Mine is I am more excited to be going home, than to be going out!

When I saw my mother staring at me from the mirror!

Realising I was almost always going to refuse party invitations!

And also, realising I don't like going away on holiday, and it's nuts to pay extortionate amounts to be miserable, away from home!

I haven’t realized it yet! Still feel like a kid inside.grin

The first time I was offered a seat in a shop

When I crouched down to get something off the bottom shelf at the supermarket and struggled to get up again, thank goodness it was quiet and no one saw me (I hope!).

When I see the latest fashions like flared trousers or gypsy tops - I wore them first time round as a teenager and I'm not doing so again.

When the young assistant at the hairdresser offered to help me get out of the chair after washing my hair

When the male nurse attending my bone density scan asked what I would be doing when I went home. I told that I would be mowing my steep lawn, so he said 'Ah bless! can't you get somebody to do it for you?' He was being kind but I found it patronising.

When I had an x-ray and the radiography didn't ask me if I could be pregnant.
I jokingly mentioned this and.she said it never past her mind that I might have been.

I was 52years old. . .

When I caught sight of my hands on a bus and all the veins were protruding - yuck, yuck, yuck!!

RosieLeah Fri 16-Aug-19 10:05:08

When I realised I kept groaning while doing something physical. I think many people don't notice that they are doing it, but older people do groan. I notice that my neighbour does it as he walks up the stairs, and he's younger than me.

When I got my bus pass----thinking to myself " I don't need one of those !" As I was still skipping around like a two year old.

The odd expression when you get out of a chair---" oosha "

Bit like Teetime when I saw this grey haired 'person of mature years ' reflected in a shop window.
When my daughter reached her 50th birthday.

A couple of years ago when my grandaughter pinched up the skin on the back of my hand and said "Is that because you are old Grannie?" !

Yesterday when consultant said I needed hip replacement!

I was only in my 40s looking for a new outfit and the assistant brought across some "old lady clothes"
Made of crimplene probably. When I tried to politely decline she said her mother would love them.

When a man in a shop asked “ have you got a computer lovey”
Cheeky devil!

When my painful knee was X-rayed after tripping over a stone in the garden - and the cause of the pain turned out to be arthritis rather than a break, a strained ligament or bruising!

When I discovered it was a major operation to change a lightbulb.

When I was offered a seat on the Tube on a trip down to London. Got off at the next stop ~ mortified ?

When I realised all young girls look the same - those strange caterpillar eyebrows, dark frame glasses, pouty lips and long straight hair.

And when I realise I don't recognise half the music on Radio 2, never mind Radio 1. And what's more, don't care that I don't!

Jeanlizzie Fri 16-Aug-19 10:46:59

When a very polite woman offered me a seat on the bus, and to me she looked to be older than me !!
and recently a woman on a department store make up counter told me I should try skin care products for a mature skin , I was only buying perfume at the time, it shocked me that much I had to stop for a coffee and cake to cheer me up, well that's my excuse for a huge cake and I'm sticking too it

Probably since I was about 50 after the menopause though
I felt free no more heavy periods or terrible stomach pains.
I take life as it comes and thank goodness for my health.
Age is just a number to me. My one heartache is my son died 11 years ago we are not supposed to out live our children are we.

When I was having my eyebrows waxed & the young girl asked if I wanted my top lip done! Say what? ?
