When my sons were small, they used to love watching cartoons on Grandma's television.

Their favourites and mine were Krtek the Mole and the animations Camberwick Green, Chigley and Trumpton.

Who can forget Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb?

Then came The Herbs (with dear old Parsley the Lion)
and The Magic Roundabout (originally Le Manège enchanté).

But best of all there was Morph who was adopted in 2016 by Aardman for a whole new series.

What are or were your favourites?

Popeye & Foghorn Leghorn were all time favourites. Also many years later, whilst not a cartoon the animated version of Wind in the Willows, with David Jason's voice as Toad - absolutely priceless grin

Scooby Doo. I'd watch this with my Mum.

The Jetsons.
So much technology we use now I remember seeing on there.
Phones that enabled you to see the person on the other end being an example.

I was never personally a lover of cartoons, but I must admit I have a liking for the adult cartoons - Family Guy, American Dad! etc, not to everyone's taste though

Until it finally finished, I loved children's hour on the radio even in early teenage years toy town could not be ignored. I disliked intensely the TVs childrens programs I found them boring and too condescending ,but did like In Town Tonight, a program for adults and even then I loved the news, but preferred the radio to TV versions and still do. Hmmm I suppose that I did have strange tastes even at 7 or so.

another Tom and Jerry fan here ,I'm sure they used real cats for inspiration .Mine do the exact same things ,like sliding across wet floors or coming in wet and bedraggled with fur sticking out in all directions and my kitten when she thought she could follow a squirrel up a flat wall and slid back down with a screech of claws against brick...lol

rockgran Fri 23-Aug-19 17:22:59

Huckleberry Hound and Popeye.

LullyDully Fri 23-Aug-19 17:24:36

nicoWhy don't we ever see Popeye anymore?

KatyK Fri 23-Aug-19 17:29:05

I never liked cartoons. I liked the animated ones such as The Woodentops and later on The Clangers. An ice cream van around here plays the Popeye tune.

harrigran Fri 23-Aug-19 17:32:29

Sylvester and tweety pie, cartoons we saw when going to the cinema on a Saturday morning in the 50s.

I m not a cartoon fan I can’t remember any as a child myself as we never had TV till just before I left home at 18 but I used to watch them all with my kids (magic roundabout, Crystal tips and alistair, the clangers, bagpuss, etc etc and then different ones with grandkids Twinkie winky and co and the one I got so fed up with was Barney that blooming purple dinosaur that sounded like Liberace
No they don’t do a lot for me
