You’re allowed to keep your cooker and fridge. What other domestic appliance would you keep?
I think mine would be my vacuum cleaner, owing to the canine traffic in this house!

Hair dryer

MissAdventure Thu 12-Sep-19 18:16:35

Washing machine for me.

aggie Thu 12-Sep-19 18:18:27

Microwave and they can swop the cooker for a toaster

phoenix Thu 12-Sep-19 18:19:27

Washing machine, definitely! Just imagine doing it by hand shock

We now only have hard floors & rugs downstairs, so a sweep with a broom then dustpan & brush would do. Currently the "office" (third bedroom) and the landing are also hard floor and rugs, the 2 remaining bedrooms will be following suit.

MissAdventure Thu 12-Sep-19 18:19:50

Oh yes, I'd swap the cooker in for a toaster too.

lemongrove Thu 12-Sep-19 18:20:53

Washing machine tops my list too.

MissAdventure Thu 12-Sep-19 18:22:30

I think I want to swap the toaster back with the cooker now.
Just been thinking about beans on toast and realised I couldn't put me beans in a toaster!

petra Thu 12-Sep-19 18:30:29

The cooker doesn't worry me as I don't cook.
I have access to a launderette so that's sorted.
I really can't decide between my iron or Hoover.
I suppose I could always borrow my daughters iron.
So it's the hoover as that's used all the time.

Washing machine for me too please! Blimey, I couldn't face doing the lot by hand. Especially not his pants and socks. He'd have to do them himself.

suziewoozie Thu 12-Sep-19 18:51:22

You don’t cook petra ? Wow

DoraMarr Thu 12-Sep-19 19:02:13

My dishwasher. I could send the laundry out, I don’t have a toaster or a microwave anyway, and I reckon I could keep my apartment clean with my long- handled dustpan and brush.

annodomini Thu 12-Sep-19 19:06:54

Washing machine for me too.

Gonegirl Thu 12-Sep-19 19:08:44

Yes, I would send the washing out somewhere.

I couldn't be without my robot vaccie cleaner, or his little brother the floor washer. So I am afraid I would have to be allowed two things.

crazyH Thu 12-Sep-19 19:09:03

Washing machine too

Auntieflo Thu 12-Sep-19 19:10:12

Definitely washing machine for me.

midgey Thu 12-Sep-19 19:11:08

You can buy special bags to put food in the toaster! Fish fingers etc.

No. I don't even shop for food.
OH loves shopping for food. Loves cooking. Loves eating.
He's just gone away for 4 days for one of his pastimes.
All home cooked meals ready in the freezer. He even made fresh pasta this morning before he left ( to go with the meatballs & fresh tomatoes sauce.
I know how lucky I am. So does he, as while he's away I'll be painting a wall in the sitting room that I want changed.
Last time he was away ( last month) I painted the bathroom.
He doesn't have to think about the garden, either ?

kittylester Thu 12-Sep-19 19:18:46

Dishwasher. Send the laundry out and get a cleaning company to bring their own equipment!!

shysal Thu 12-Sep-19 20:20:06

Washing machine for me too.

I have a neighbour, in her eighties, who has cooker, fridge and spin dryer only. She sees no need for electric kettle, toaster, washing machine or microwave. She is by no means poor, but likes to live simply.

suziewoozie Thu 12-Sep-19 20:21:18

Gosh petra I don’t know anyone ( woman) like that re the cooking. I know plenty of couples who share it and plenty where the wife does it all but you are a rare creature

MissAdventure Thu 12-Sep-19 20:31:02

I would totally give us cooking and shopping if I had someone (anyone!) else to do it.

I've no interest at all.

suziewoozie Thu 12-Sep-19 20:36:40

MissA do you enjoy food though or do you just eat to live? I do hate actually putting away the shopping

MissAdventure Thu 12-Sep-19 20:37:57

Oh I love food!
Eating is my favourite hobby grin

Fridge/freezer Halogen oven
When we had kitchen redone a few years ago the only thing that stayed plugged in was our American style fridge freezer.

We managed with a halogen oven.
If it hadn't been Feb/March could have used barbeque.

As others have said can always send laundry out.

As we have mainly hard flooring a broom instead of a vacuum would be just fine.

I would like to keep my hairdryer.
Always thought I could never manage without a hairdryer until we went on a two week sailing holiday with no hairdyer.
My hair on return was in amazing condition according to my hairdresser?
