DH and I are having a few days holiday in a cottage in the Lake District. This morning we decided to go for a walk.

We went up Coniston Old Man!

I haven't hiked for years and feel really satisfied that my hip and knee lasted so well.
We are having a quick cuppa now and then we are off out again to walk to the pub for something to eat.
I feel really proud of myself! Just that really, no need to add anything.

Well done, miniMoon! It's a great feeling to have done something like that, isn't it? ?⛰

John Ruskin's house tomorrow, and a cruise on Coniston in The Gondola.
The weather is glorious.
We went to Hilltop yesterday to see Beatrix Potter's house and garden. Then we had a lovely walk in Grisedale forest.

Love the Lake District...enjoy your holiday.

I went into town today. Just been walking round the shops for an hour, and I am shattered. I can't believe how unfit I am ?

A lovely walk indeed. The Lake District is a truly beautiful place. I stayed at Patterdale in the hotel of the same name near to Ullswater. I love the place, so bracing and healthy and some of the pubs serve really lovely food.

A beautiful view in Coniston, the Black Bull Inn is near the Old Man I think----an old watering hole.

Hi Minimoon
Thanks for posting a beautiful photo.
I have a coffee-table size book of the Lake District. DH and always wanted to visit there, but doubt very much we will make it to there. (Distance and budget) ?
I hope you don't mind, I am saving your photo to my iPad to use as my screen saver.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.

I'm very flattered that you think my photo was good enough to use as a screen saver Page turner. It's not often that I take a good photo, they are usually terrible.?

That's a lovely pic Minimoon. Some years now since I've been up that way. Have a lovely rest of the holiday.

We stayed in Coniston in early August and I walked up the Coniston Old Man with DD, SIL and 2 DGD's aged 8 and 11.

Daughter and I lagged behind but made it to the top in the end...phew!
