Cream teas

Lovely idea for getting out and about. One more cream tea can be found in the Cotswolds - either westonbirt or batsford. Autumn is the perfect time. XX

We had a lovely one the other day, but it was in a garden centre, not too far from us. Sorry, that's not much help to you.

If you are in SWWales, the Grove at Narberth does an excellent tea

Great idea - but squirty cream on scones - NO - I could not give any cream tea with squirty cream more than 5

Lovely idea. We always check that the cream is clotted. Anything else and we leave.

Had lunch at The Swan in Bibury two weeks ago, but haven’t had a cream tea since July ( in Devon) the only cream teas worth having, are in Devon or in Cornwall.

Agree with 'no to squirty cream' but not worried about whether clotted or whipped double though. The jam and scones have to be good too though. I did once have a cream tea where the cup of tea was a bag in a mug though!

Try The Connaught Gardens in Sidmouth, Devon but only if you can manage large portions! You can choose to have either 1 or 2 scones with your cream tea

LondonGranny….I use bags all the time, but not for a cream tea!!
I like the whole thing to have a 'homemade' attention to detail, quality about it.
Not like a conveyer belt.

Squirty cream would bring the score down to 3 out of 10 for me!

We often have tea in Tir Hwnt ir Bont* kittylester* , and we are off to Llanrwst tomorrow. The tea room usually closes for the winter at the end of October and is very susceptible to flooding. Love the Conwy valley

Now that Autumn is upon us why not change the scoring from cream teas to warming soups. Lots of places sell tasty homemade soup with crusty bread or rolls. This will give you another chance to have outings of the same vein

Yes - it is after all 'the season of mists and mellow soupfulness' - certainly in this house, where thick main-course soups with stacks of seasonal veg/lentils/pearl barley etc. are often on the menu.

The last cream tea I had was thousands of feet up in the air in an aeroplane coming home from Rhodes.........and very nice it was too.

There are loads of places in Devon for a proper cream tea (and we've sampled most of them) but I've never been offered squirty cream.
If I recall correctly King's Garden Centre in Exmouth do a great cream tea, as does 'a la Ronde' which is just round the corner.
Now I don't want to start a fight but when we lived in Devon it was cream first.
