Loved Clive James he was so witty ,I genuinely laughed out loud reading his books.I think he outlived his original diagnosis by a few years .

Such a witty writer and great TV host. He's been ill for a long time.

RIP

I decided about twenty years ago that when I became famous/infamous, Clive James would be my interviewer of choice.

How sad that my dream has gone. A lovely man. R.I.P.

Still remember giggling that he described Arnold Schwarzenegger as like a ‘condom full of walnuts’!

Como2020 Wed 27-Nov-19 17:24:07

He had such a wonderful take on life .... and death. RIP

callgirl1 Wed 27-Nov-19 18:00:50

I hadn't heard of this until now. He was one of the most erudite and funny men on tv; I could listen to him speaking for hours. RIP

MaizieD Wed 27-Nov-19 18:10:56

Oh, how sad. He wrote almost the funniest TV criticism I've ever read (Nancy Banks-Smith equalled him grin) I've a collection of them in a book and they still make me laugh.

RIP Clive

Three well known people sadly dying in one day ?

Alima Wed 27-Nov-19 18:38:49

Wonderful broadcaster, RIP Clive, they don’t make them like you anymore. Thank you for the laughs.

Urmstongran Wed 27-Nov-19 18:39:51

You’re right nina

Maybe we out to start an ‘obituaries’ thread and post nice memories of famous people who have died that day?

Callistemon Wed 27-Nov-19 18:43:34

I enjoyed his dry, wry wit, such a clever man.
He bore his illness with grace and a certain positivity.

RIP Clive

A great favourite of mine, first saw him on tv in Australia. A very clever educated man, fluent in several languages, a poet, mucician, writer, entertainer, broadcaster. And he made me laugh with his dry wit and take on life. Loved reading his memoirs. Saw him do a one man show once, where he chatted to the audience, read his poetry and sang. He was amazing. Have just been watching him on tv, chatting with Mary Beard. Such a sad loss. RIP, Clive.

I used to really look forward to see which song she was going to murder sing each week.
