Calendargirl Mon 09-Dec-19 12:40:55

Love sprouts.

annep1 Mon 09-Dec-19 12:43:53

Me too. I eat them all the time.

hazel93 Mon 09-Dec-19 12:46:22

Gosh, you sure they will be ready ?? Seems a bit late to me.

BBbevan Mon 09-Dec-19 13:01:03

We love sprouts. We used to joke that my DMiL put them on about now.

Beechnut Mon 09-Dec-19 13:01:03

Has anyone eaten tinned sprouts? I tried some yesterday, I think Noah put them on ?

Franbern Mon 09-Dec-19 13:04:33

I love sprouts and use the frozen mini ones the whole year. saw lots of fresh ones in Sainsbury this morning.

Pittcity Mon 09-Dec-19 13:22:13

Thanks for the reminder nanasam wink

Callistemon Mon 09-Dec-19 13:24:16

I started them off last week.
However, we ate those so will have to put some more on to boil (never simmer or steam) grin

Lisagran Mon 09-Dec-19 13:29:22

I’m embarrassed to confess that I ate 2 bags of sprouts last week all on my own shock The embarrassment being that they were chocolate sprouts destined for GC stockings grin

Cabbie21 Mon 09-Dec-19 13:42:56

Seriously, DH and I have very different tastes. He likes his sprouts soft and mushy, I like some texture, but not as hard as restaurants often serve them, where you can’t get a fork in.
So I cook my veg separately. Good job there is just the two of us,

kittylester Mon 09-Dec-19 13:45:29

Sains sell frozen chargrilled ones!

Auntieflo Mon 09-Dec-19 14:06:41

We had some frozen baby sprouts last night. (Cooked)
Very nice they were too.

Luckygirl Mon 09-Dec-19 14:10:56

Lisagran naughty naughty
I bought two bags as wellfrom M&S but did hand them over. The DGD shared them around so I did eat some.

nanasam I wondered what the smell was tchgrin

Namsnanny Mon 09-Dec-19 15:30:31

nanasam …^started mine this morning^ as hazel93 said bit late isn't it? grin

Seriously though, what do you mean by starting...??? Preparing them for the freezer maybe?

MamaCaz Mon 09-Dec-19 15:32:44

Can't get them on yet - I love them enough to grow my own, but tried a new variety this year and they are nowhere near big enough to pick yet, and I suspect they never will be!

I suppose I will have to buy some, but I keep putting it off, just in case a miracle happens in the garden overnight ... grin

BlueBelle Mon 09-Dec-19 15:38:33

Oh I don’t like them mushy but I can’t stand the bullets they serve up in restaurants I don’t think they even touch the Boiling water in the saucepan there should be a happy medium

MerylStreep Mon 09-Dec-19 15:54:37

With bacon and chestnuts, yum yum ?

M0nica Mon 09-Dec-19 16:02:40

When I was child, living in Singapore, our sprouts came in tins. Now I love sprouts, my fave veg but tinned sprouts? yuk!

I have put mine in the slow cooker. They have been there a week or two, should just about be ready for Christmas, but not overcooked tchgrin

Namsnanny Mon 09-Dec-19 16:07:39

MamaCaz … there's a lot of 'baby' sprouts about at the mo!

Went for a meal the other night, and the chef said they are this years Christmas go to veg [confusion] grin

Perhaps yours are that type?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Dec-19 16:11:45

Love ‘em. In fact I love winter food. Parsnips and swede, Cavolo Nero, and winter cabbage - yum yum. Stews and casseroles and roasts.
