Put another note through the door to say that unless the parcel is collected by XXX date and XXX time then it will be disposed of accordingly. They could well be letting you store it for them if it's a large one ! See if that works the cheeky so and so's.

Maybe they need a wellness check, seems odd you have tried so many times and seen the TV is on and no answer

I would dump it on their doorstep. How ungrateful!

I wouldn’t take anything else in for them again! They don’t deserve you!

A "wellness check"? Why? They're only in their 30s; they go out to work every morning and apparently come home every evening. They just don't seem to answer their door or respond to notes/cards.

Are you sure they are there? They may have set lights, TV etc. on timer switches to discourage burglars while they are away.

Perhaps they're away and have their lights, TV etc on a timer to fool potential housebreakers? Could be they ordered something, expecting to get it delivered before they went away or it's arrived much earlier than they expected.

Do you have a shed or garage you could parcel in so it isn't taking up space in the hall?

I'm a bit naffed off with them but they seemed a nice enough young couple when I first moved here 6 months ago and I don't really want to fall out with them. The parcel isn't heavy, but its large and bulky and probably needed for Christmas, I imagine. I'll try once more tomorrow but have no idea what I'll do if they don't answer again

We have neighbours, who wouldn't come to pick up their parcels, despite knowing we had them. They would sit tight for days and hope we would bring them to them.
Not a word of thanks and much younger and fitter than us, so we stopped taking them in.

Do they have a phone number, try ringing them
Is there a shed or porch or safe place you could leave the parcel if not hang on to till after the weekend see if they are away then if no difference maybe contact the couriers
I d guess they are away too

Our DS has neighbours like that, in the end he refused taking in any more parcels.
He said if they couldn't be bothered to cross the road to get them, then enough was enough!

It's their problem not yours. You've done everything you can. If you have a garage or cupboard you can store it in then do so until they can be arsed to come and collect the parcel!

Is the parcel very inconvenient at your place?
If not, for goodness sake stop worrying and just put it aside; they've probably gone away for Christmas.

When I used to go away, my neighbour would nip in at 6am on her way to work and pull my curtains back and on her way home pull them closed and put a light on in the bathroom. I was often away 3 weeks if I went walkabout.

Many good reasons to be a good neighbour and hold onto the parcel graciously.

Bradfordlass ..now I use that phrase loosely (went walkabout) to mean 'time on my own', or an un arranged touring holiday!

Our neighbours are very quick to knock on our door to see if a parcel has been left!

Also don't forget they can track the deliveries themselves, so they should know where the parcel is and when it was delivered!!

The parcel isn't heavy but it is quite large and is sat in my hallway just waiting to handover. They don't have a porch, so that's out. I can't leave it somewhere safe round the back of the house because they've got big locked gates at the side (I checked them yesterday).

I've got a lockable shed I could put it in but it's not terribly dry in there and I'd hate for whatever is in the parcel to get damp and spoiled. I'm around more tomorrow so will keep an eye out for them leaving or returning. curtain twitcher.

Some delivery drivers round here seem to be so rushed that they scarcely give you time to answer the door before they dump the parcel to the side of the front door and rush off. Sometimes it's not even the right front door!

It's a pity that driver didn't do that with your neighbours' parcel.

All you can do is put another note through the door and say if it isn't collected by a certain date you will phone the firm and arrange to get it returned - and leave it outside.

I had young neighbours who regularly failed to pick up parcels from me. They didn't bother to answer their door either. I did put a note through once - still no response. In the end I just refused to take in any parcels for them.

Are they British, Chewbacca? I ask because we have a lot of E.European neighbours who rarely answer the door to anyone knocking. Some people, presumably friends of theirs,make a call on their mobiles, and the door is then opened.
