Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in Brackley this morning, usually we get early morning mist.
Anyway, house work beckons this morning, before I go off to Bicester and Buckingham for usual coffee stops and shops.

Good morning from a feeling good St.Andrews ! Washing machine is birling , eggs are being consumed ( LCHF started 3 days ago!) I feel strangely excited with a New Year . I like numbers - 2020 feels 'safe' ?
Best happy wishes to everyone x

Good morning everyone from a dry and very mild South Manchester. I shall prep something this morning for later, then this afternoon we are picking my father up and going over to our daughter and son in law’s house for a couple of hours all together. Doubtless we will plat games with the smalls.

Home at tea time with dad so that he can eat with us,, before taking him home and a quiet night in for us two.

I’d like to wish everybody who posts on here a very happy and healthy 2020. x

Good morning from a fair NE, hope you are all in good spirits for this New Year’s Eve. Going for coffee with friends then back home to spend a quiet new year with hubby then he’ll probably fall asleep after a couple of drinks! All over and soon back to work but it’s just that time of year again isn’t it? Good luck to all who read and post may it be a good one for you.

Good morning all from Manchester. Looks dry so far but not quite light. Breakfast at a lovely garden centre this morning with Dil and gs2. Supposed to be exchanging a gift but the sale is in full swing too! Quiet night in, nice meal, bottle of wine and hope to find some good films to watch on Netflix. Wishing everyone a good New Year. Hope it's a happy, healthy one for all.

Good morning from a rather dull Birmingham. My three year old granddaughter and I are snuggled up on the sofa, me with tea, and she with milk. Later my eldest daughter is coming with my two year old grandson and the baby, and we are all going to a puppet show. I haven’t anything planned for NYE, apart from a box set of French films and some nice wine. I hope all those with caring responsibilities and health worries have a peaceful evening and a better year ahead.

Good Morning from a dry S Welsh coast.
Thanks to all on this thread who have shown me such kindness and support throughout this awful year.
May next year be happier and healthier for us all.

Morning All

It looks as if it’s going to be another lovely day here in the north of Norfolk. Just a bit more ironing to do and the sheets to get back onto two beds and normal service will be resumed.

I fear that was our last full on family Christmas. We haven’t had one for a few years now and decided to go out with a bang. DD2 and family staying for five days was too much for our little house - and us! Hopefully today I can catch up with GN, every time I’ve peeked in someone has interrupted!

Happy New Year Everyone and may it be the best of years - especially for those for whom 2019 was ever so slightly c**p.

Morning everyone, not much on here today. Gym, dog walking and a M&S dine in for 2 tonight. We’re not ones for partying.

Well crikey, the last day of the decade. How did we get here? Where did it all go? So many changes, so many challenges and now just memories. Here’s to another year and another decade. May they bring you peace, health and happiness.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear and frosty today with a lovely sunrise over the field behind the house.
Slept late despite a early night.
Washing on and a bit of shopping to do. May treat myself to a steak for this evening.
Wishing everyone health and peace for 2020. Thinking of Marydoll, Gilly, Lins and Dragonfly.

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a very cold and frosty start to the day.

Just enjoying the 3rd cup of tea of the morning tucked up in bed listening to cars being scraped and DH sleeping . Why is it that he is awake almost all night and then goes into a deep sleep at about 7am and sleeps for 2-3 hours ?

Yesterday all seemed to go a bit pear shaped and I got nothing done that I had planned to do. Reluctantly decided to ring around and find another dentist as I have lost all faith in my own . I have been with the practise for over 30 years but the old dentist retired and it was taken over . I have never been afraid of the dentist, ever but the thought of going back there fills me with terror so time to move on I think . Muddling on with antibiotics and pain killers until 6th January.

Looking back on 2019 I can’t say anything other than it has been a completely sh*t year from beginning to end.

I am very reluctant to say that “things could not be much worse in 2020” but that would really be tempting fate wouldn’t it ?

To all of those who have had a good year, enjoyed happy times, travelling and more....long may it continue . smile

To those who have suffered ill health, lost loved ones or for whom 2019 hasn’t been so good, let’s hope we all see some sunshine very soon.

.....and finally at the end of this rotten year, I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has supported me with kind words, messages and helpful advice . It has meant so much to me to know that my virtual friends were there with me, through thick and thin.

With much love and good wishes for 2020

Gillybob x

Good Morning to all from a bright but cold Fife. Just wanted to wish everyone a 'Guid New Year' when it comes. Many have had not such a good year in 2019 but I hope 2020 gets better for everyone. GN is such comfort to a lot of people and of course more so to those who are on their own. Celebrate the way you want to and enjoy yourselves. Hoping this next year will bring everyone good, healthy and better times. flowers

Good morning all.
After a very mild few days it seems slightly more chilly in Stockport.
My family went home yesterday after what turned out to be not the most satisfactory and restful visit, but hey ho as they say.
They got home to receive the news that their other GF died last evening.
He was 92 and my D and her H are estranged so a difficult one.
Out for coffee with a friend this morning and an early night for me, no jollies, just hoping for a better year, the first without my H.

gillybob Tue 31-Dec-19 09:26:41

It will be an early night in the Gillybob household too . Not even aloud a small glass of wine . Haven’t touched a drop of alcohol for 3 months now . Don’t feel any better for it mind you.

Thinking of you Annsixty flowers

Just dropping in to wish all on this gentle thread a nice evening and very best wishes for the coming year. It is our 48th wedding anniversary tomorrow and we are so grateful to still have each other and be in reasonable health. For those feeling sad, lonely or unwell sending prayers for peace and better days ahead as the New Year dawns.x

harrigran Tue 31-Dec-19 09:35:22

Good morning from a frosty NE.
I went shopping last night and the shelves were empty, struggled to find anything to stock the fridge.
Haven' t heard from family so I am assuming it will be just the two of us tonight.
Best wishes to all.

Good morning from no mans land.
I say this as we have been very unwell since Christmas Day and on Saturday needed some medical advice. We Phoned 111 to be informed by recorded message that they do not accept calls from welsh patients so called the welsh emergency number to be told they don’t accept calls from English patients?‍♀️
We spoke to our dr yesterday who said we should have called an ambulance?‍♀️She gave us the advice we needed and although both still ill,we are on the mend.
Sorry for the moan.
Hope all unwell improve soon.
Sending good wishes to all for the New Year.
Sending virtual ??to you gilly.I really hope for a better 2020 for you and your dear husband. You are one amazing lady?

gillybob Tue 31-Dec-19 09:53:37

Oh how dreadful Susan56 . What on Earth did they think you should do then?

Not quite Welsh enough , not quite English enough ? How ridiculous .

I’m glad to hear you are both “on the mend” now, but what a shame you couldn’t get the help you needed when you needed it !

Thank you for your good wishes and the virtual champagne too . Here’s hoping for a better 2020 for all of us . xx

Good morning from a very grey, misty Essex. Having a day at home today which is so unusual for me but so looking forward to it. Will catch up with housework and 'play' with my Xmas presents. A quiet night in tonight but will watch the fireworks on TV and pop a small bottle of prosecco. I wish everyone on GN a very happy and healthy 2020. Gillybobs post brought tears to my eyes and hope that?shines for her family next year xxxx

A murky chilly morning in Oxfordshire, the pheasants are screeching, perhaps there's a shoot nearby, I saw and heard the barn owl this morning, it lives close by our little cottage. I wish you all a happy, healthy 2020, there are years for which I have been glad to leave behind, but I hope the new year brings hope for all those who are fearful, struggling or lonely. This is such a gentle and supportive group, I dont often contribute, but always enjoy reading each day. Happy 2020!

Good Morning All x.
A little breezy and dull here but dry with no frost.

Well the GP visit yesterday was a waste of time ! I was signed up for the usual blood-test which I'd already said had been extensively tested in hospital just over a couple of weeks ago to which nothing untoward had been found.

Then I was given a prescription to increase the Bisoprolol so I duly went along to the chemist to pick it up and came home. A while later I decided to get the tablets out of the bag and-------they were 1.25mg !
Because I could feel something not right with myself, I didn't bother going back to the chemist and instead dosed myself with paracetamol.

During the course of yesterday I'd developed a cough that would waken the dead, it's chronic, so I threw a spoonful of honey down my neck and drank as much water as I could. It's obviously a chest infection as every part of me is aching yet my stomach's rumbling with hunger ? Chicken soup today.

Anyway I had to phone the surgery this morning to cancel the blood test so I doubt I'll even bother with another.
I must pull myself together as the cats are running out of food so I'll replenish it locally as I don't need any shopping as such.

Good job there's nothing arranged for tonight as I wouldn't make it anyway.
Blimey, what a miserable post ! I don't even envisage anything better for next year either with the problems with GD and her brood, Lord knows what's going to happen there. I can do without it that's for sure.

I hope everyone else's 2020 shows some improvement x
Thinking of those who aren't so grand too and Gillybob you have all my sympathy, believe me xx.

Hope Marydoll and Dragonfly start their New Year on the right foot, healthwise.x Everyone else enjoy your evening whatever you do, or don't do.

Good morning from Southampton. Cloudy and bit misty at the moment also a bit chillier than yesterday. Enjoy the final day of the year and I wish you and everyone on Gransnet a happy, healthy and prosperous 2020.?

Good morning from Kent. It's miserable grey skies but it doesn't matter to me as in 1 hour I'm leaving for a magical short break to Iceland. Snow and cosy times together in a romantic hotel while eating a breakfast buffet overlooking the scenery. A treat from my husband for all the wonderful things I do for him. He told me last night! Well his exact words were 'shall we go to Wheatherspoons for breakfast tomorrow then pop to Iceland to see if they have the cheesy balls back in stock?' At least I'm going out I suppose ?
