And a happy new year to everyone from a dark and windy north Wales. Enjoying my usual chamberpot of tea in bed and looking forward to waffles with bacon and maple syrup for breakfast......mmmm!

Roast beef and trimmings for late lunch and maybe a walk along the beach after then settle down to some knitting and telly - what an exciting life eh? Never mind, off to mi casa on Monday and two weeks of sunshine and DH hip won’t hurt as much.

Good health and happiness for all who follow flowers

Good morning Mick and a Happy New Year from a dark but quiet Cheshire morning. I'm hoping for good weather for a drive to Watford today for the Harry Potter Studio tomorrow, a treat for DGS for good school work. Not looking forward to the M1, but there is no other way!

I thought I might go and knock at a neighbour's who kept up the noise well into the early hours and say I thought they might like to be awake, but 'tis still the season of goodwill and all that.

Wishing good health and happiness to all and improvement to those who've struggled recently. flowers Have a good day. x

Happy New year everyone ??

It is cooler here in Sydney, the temperature yesterday reached 44 degrees, then dropped dramatically to 22 degrees within an hour!

Just had a quiet day today. Saw DD and the DGKs, and DS. Then finalised our holiday arrangements as we leave tomorrow on a trip to South America and Antartica.

Take care everyone, hope you all have a healthy and happy 2020!

Good morning everyone, from dark, cold Lancashire. Will be taking down the decorations and then starting on 'spring' cleaning. I think the start of the new year is a good time to get everything clean and fresh.

Morning Mick, morning All from a very dark corner of Somerset. Feels cold and from what I can see is dry. Sound asleep by 10.30 last night, if there were fireworks didn’t hear them Bit disappointed Mr C and I couldn't have our planned meal and evening, flipping germs. Safe trip ginny. Went to the HP Studios with the big kid I’m married to and much to my surprise loved every moment. Even flew a broomstick, grin. Temperature reduction has to be good scotinoz, enjoy your holiday. Will try to start putting the decorations away today, no plans otherwise. Hope the new year is gentle with everyone.

Happy New Year everyone from darl Leicestershire.

Went to bed early last night as DH got the lurgy.
DS and family coming today so another mini Christmas.

Ladymuck I remember when we lived near Glasgow everything in the house had to be clean going into New Year right down to putting dirty washing in the machine. I didn’t have a machine in those days, it was done by hand!
Not sure if this is still the tradition.

Good morning Mick and a very Happy New Year.

Hope to go for a gentle walk and coffee round Cliveden (of Christine Keebler fame) this morning as it will be dry but cloudy.

Still coughing and croaking but hopefully on the mend. Hope Mary Gilly and all the other poorly folk here are improving.

A very Happy New Year to everyone and to those who follow. Very dark and cold here in Fife today. Have DD and family coming along for their traditional home made Steak Pie with all the trimmings. Apart from that will be having a quietish New Year, not keen on this time of year. Wishing good health and happiness to all and improvement to those who've struggled recently. Hope you all have a good day.

Good Morning and Happy New Year from a dry Severnside.

A tidy up this morning from the wild party for one I had last night ? then off to see DB and SiL.

Hope you all enjoy your plans for today ?

Happy New Year Mick everyone on the Good Morning thread from a chilly Glasgow.

For the first time, since I have been I married, I was in bed before the Bells, I was feeling very low just wanted to see the end of this year. I shall have to give myself a very big shake!!! grin
We had a lovely afternoon with our friends, me drinking a passable, non alcoholic Prosecco, which my friend had bought for me! ?

I have woken up this morning to an unfamiliar set of keys lying at the top of the stairs. Either we have burglars or DD and her fiancé haven't been able to get home after their Hogmanay party!
That of course means I shall be on breakfast duty, making pancakes etc. I only got 4·5* after their Christmas sojourn, as it seems my attitude needs to improve!!!?

If I suggested taking our decoration down, DH would have a fit! He is a traditionalist and we have to wait until Twelfth Night. I may chance my luck and make a start on Sunday.

Dragonfly, we still follow the tradition of making sure the house is totally clean for midnight, washing in the machine, (sometimes washed), no dirty dishes etc on the draining board.
I have to admit that I was so tired last night, that I failed!!! grin

Enjoy your day whatever your plans. I had planned to go to the New Year's service at church, but I'm feeling under the weather, (no alcohol involved) so a chilling day for me.

Best wishes for all those who are unwell and to those, who find this a lonely and difficult time of the year.

A Happy New Year to Mick and all of his followers. I shall start 2020 with the ascent of the ironing mountain!

Kalu Wed 01-Jan-20 08:18:55

Happy New Year from a still dark Glasgow.

Good health and happiness to Mick and all on GM.

I think I am on the mend at last however DH now has it! We completely missed out on Christmas and New Year and to top it all, I have been left with a cluster of cold sores either side of my nose TMI?. Deep joy!

Needless to say, we will be taking it easy today texting each other from our separate sick beds and look forward to chance meeting in the hall. Woohoo.

Enjoy, hopefully, an easy restful day all.

Resurgam123 Wed 01-Jan-20 08:20:49

Happy new Year to all.

DoraMarr Wed 01-Jan-20 08:24:21

Good morning from a dull but dry Birmingham. I’m going for a walk with family this morning, so I hope we see just a glimmer of sun. My partner has just wished me happy new year and pointed out that this will probably be our last. tchsad (I intend to prove him wrong.) I must start on “Jazz” by Toni Morrison today, ready for writing class next week. Have a good day everyone!

aggie Wed 01-Jan-20 08:30:32

Good morning and a Happy New Year to you all!
I was so tempted to preempt Mick at one minute past midnight as I battled with insomnia, but that would have been out of order!
No problems with fireworks, but somehow I could not get to sleep until 2ish despite my best efforts, but not the overwhelming sorrow of last year, so perhaps I am “getting there”
DoraMarr, your OH is a right little ray of sunshine isn’t he?
I am planning to meet up with my sisters in law for lunch at Tate Britain and a visit to the Blake exhibition. Of course the trains could well be up the spout, but taking the chance anyway.
I do wish you all well, relief from worries, an improvement in health issues and raise a brew to you all
Wishing you all a pleasant year!

dragonfly46 Wed 01-Jan-20 08:34:10

Oh dear Dora just what you need to brighten the New Year. I sincerely hope it isn’t your last!

Grannyben Wed 01-Jan-20 08:38:05

Alygran Wed 01-Jan-20 08:38:19

Happy New Year from North Yorkshire. Another bright clear morning.
Some ironing to do this morning then off to my lovely neighbours for lunch.
Wishing everyone good health and peace flowers

Lins1066 Wed 01-Jan-20 08:51:48

A Happy New Year to Mick and everyone.
It is a dry and quiet start weather wise here in S Wales.

Grammaretto Wed 01-Jan-20 08:55:47

Happy New year everyone from the Scottish Borders where the sky was pink but after reading all your good mornings it's pale grey!
We had DD and family for an early NYE meal and toasts wine around the fire and when they left we watched our boxed sets whilst hearing distant fireworks. It was icy so we were glad nothing was expected of us. There are advantages that come with age!
A lot of poorly people on here who need to take it easy!

Mommawolf Wed 01-Jan-20 08:58:16

Good morning and a happy new year to all. Its dull and grey here in Norfolk. A very disturbed evening and night dealing with terrified animals. By midnight we had to sedate our elderly Husky. Two border collies totally distraught and by one o clock three alpacas had joined us in the kitchen they were thrashing around in the stable in danger of injuring themselves. First job this morning will be a deep of the kitchen. It's eldest sons birthday booked for family lunch at local Hotel will be joined by his brothers and sister and their families. Wishing all who are unwell a speedy recovery and a better year for all who are struggling.
