Morning Mick and Susan56 from sunny Spain where I’m up sharpish and off to a monthly meeting of Amigas de Casa where we’re to listen to a talk on nuclear testing!

Hope all goes well at hospital Susan- I’ll be spending time there next month when DH goes to Gobowen for hip op - so not looking forward to that!

Hope everyone else is recovering from their lurgies and there are no more to come - January is bad enough without em!

Mommawolf Thu 09-Jan-20 06:47:26

Goodmorning all. What a day! just back from a very wet dog walk. Some of the roads are flooded. Hope you soon get sorted SUSAN you must be exhausted. Good morning Mick and everyone. I can hear the rain on the windows and it's dark in Cheshire. Goodness Susan56 what an ordeal. I hope you can go home soon.

Today my friend is going home from care and I have to get her there as she's now opted for private carers as SS couldn't find any and they've now have wiped their hands of her. So no help to get her home. Her DD is unable to come from Canada, so it's down to me. I have booked a taxi to take her and the wheelchair, but I have to take all her belongings, TV etc. In my car. Puts me in mind of 'My old man said follow the van and don't dilly dally on the way....'. The new carers will be waiting for us at the other end, so fingers crossed it goes well

First a walk in the woods with neighbours and putting the world to rights. If only it was that easy!

Take care everyone and I hope the people on the sick list have a better day.

Scentia Thu 09-Jan-20 07:02:33

Good Morning all

Very wet and windy here in East Staffordshire.

I overslept for the third day in a row this morning, it is just so dark out there!

Trying my Vegan Croissant this morning, years since I had a Croissant. They are very nice?

Off to work later but first I will make a third attempt to get a doctors appointment?

Hope all have a good day.

Good morning everyone, from a rather gloomy Malta. It is winter so we have to expect some cold weather, but I still can’t wait for the warmer days to come.

Susan56 I’m sorry you are in A&E and hope your DH will be well enough to go home soon. The hours seem interminable when you are waiting.flowers

I’m livid with myself this morning as I went to feed the dog and realised I had left the gas heater on all night! What a waste. I’ve never done that before.

It always interests me to see how many of you have a routine to your days as I have none. I had planned to clean my car today, but rain is forecast so I don’t think I will waste my time doing it.

Hope you all have a good day and that those who are feeling under the weather will get well soon.sunshine

Grammaretto Thu 09-Jan-20 07:10:15

Good morning from the Scottish Borders. It's to be cold but dry so far. I feel like escaping today so will get on a bus to another town where there's a good bookshop, a wool shop and several cafés. Rather like you do Mick smile

How awful for you both Susan . I hope everything goes well today. flowers
The electrican and joiner are booked for tomorrow for non urgent repair jobs . I've been waiting many weeks.

Good morning from a wet and windy Northampton.

Another day with the workmen in. Everything was stripped out of the cloakroom yesterday and the new floor tiles laid; I was a bit worried about how they would look, but I am very pleased with them, and keep going to admire them. They have offered to paint the ceiling and walls, so I hurriedly had to choose some paint yesterday which they will pick up this morning. And also had to choose the fittings, (towel ring etc), as they will do those as well. New loo and vanity unit in today!

So glad the cats are in the cattery out of the way, one less thing to worry about!

Hope today turns out well for all. And that you and your DH get home soon, Susan.

Good Morning everyone from damp Severnside.

Nothing is jumping out at me to be done so I’ll just see how it goes today.

Had a nice catch up chat with my SiL yesterday on FaceTime. She said the the temperature was 59 F and she was wearing a jumper !!!!

Take care everyone ?

kittylester Thu 09-Jan-20 07:16:52

Morning all from North Leicestershire where it has rained overnight - in the hall as well!

Our cleaner will be here later and I will do my usually trip to the butchers and Sainsbury's and DH will do his driving.

We ordered our new sofas yesterday- stressful to say the least as weve not had new ones for 45 years!

Susan, what happened to send you to A & E? I hope you get home quickly.

ginny you are a star.

Hoping to hear better news from gilly.

dragonfly46 Thu 09-Jan-20 07:24:22

Good morning, still dark here!

Got to get up early as the tilers are coming.

A walk this afternoon then NWR planning meeting this evening.

So sorry to hear you both have spent the night in hospital Susan. Hope you get home soon.
Sending healing thoughts to gilly, marydoll and all those under the weather.

Yiayia4 Thu 09-Jan-20 07:24:52

Morning all still dark in Surrey.
What a long wait Susan hope your DH gets sorted soon.
It seems most of the doctors in our surgery have gone down with this lurgy!
We are flying to Scotland later this morning have my pharmacy bag of cough sweets and mixture with me.
Hope to see Nessie! well you never know?

Do hope Gilly has had her tooth sorted and all not feeling well have a better day.

Nannytopsy Thu 09-Jan-20 07:39:05

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Susan I do hope you get seen very soon. Best wishes for this afternoon Ginny.
It is blowing a gale here in Suffolk at the moment and rainy so inside jobs today I think. Still have not sorted out the paint for our decorator.
He will be here shortly so I had better get up!

Mythbirtthedragon Thu 09-Jan-20 07:39:18

Good morning from east London, cloudy, bit of wind but mild. I’ve been indulging again watching the ATP highlights with my cup of tea but need to get a move on now as it’s the first foodbank of the new year. After that it’s off to Southend with DP and SiL as they’re finally able to register their brother’s death. If there’s time on the way back, may pop in to DD so SiL can meet her new great niece. Final carpet fitted yesterday afternoon- yay - so house feels settled. This evening, it’s first choir of the year with new songs to look forward to. Have a best day you can.

NannyJan53 Thu 09-Jan-20 07:48:36

Good Morning from a damp Black Country.

I just may go out today, as this cold has kept me indoors since Sunday.

Washing Machine stopped working yesterday! So it looks like a new one to be ordered as it is at least 13 years old, and I imagine a repair would not be cost effective.

So sorry to hear you have been in A&E all night Susan. I hope your DH is well enough to go home soon. I think it was you and DH who were left adrift over Christmas as you were on the border of Wales and England and no-one wanted to see you?

Kitty we are going to makeover our Living room this year, I am looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. As will be quite a disruption for a while. Decorating, re-wiring lights, new carpets, curtains etc!

Thinking of gilly and really hoping her tooth is sorted!

MawB Thu 09-Jan-20 07:52:20

Good morning all and special good wishes or Susan . I hope by now your DH has a bed or is home. I remember too well those hours and hours in A&E and the sheer and utter exhaustion afterwards.
Do let us know how your DH is please and take care of yourself.
Wishing everyone as pleasant a day as conditions permit flowers

cornergran Thu 09-Jan-20 07:58:51

Morning Mick, morning All. Dry at the moment in our corner of Somerset, long may that last. Lanes negotiated safely yesterday today I’ll be in clear-out mode today, Mr C is still recovering so not wanting to be off out. Hope you will both be home soon susan, good luck for this afternoon ginny, thank goodness your friend has you to support her. Thinking of you gilly. Hope Friday is kind to everyone.

EllanVannin Thu 09-Jan-20 08:08:03

Good Morning All x
I loathe this darkness it always makes me feel worse than what I am. A night of coughing/choking so was up and down like a fiddlers elbow not being able to settle.

I feel for you Susan if DH has the same lurgy, it's truly awful and I hope you're not hanging around too much longer x.

Anyway, it's definitely damp out as I was listening to the rain last night/early hours so I don't envisage going far or doing much today apart from putting yesterdays washing in the tumble-dryer from the maiden where it's almost dry. These little chores still have to be done regardless of the weather.

A quick macaroni/cheese meal to make for today so no effort there.
I do need to start getting a supply of Birthday cards in readiness for the year ahead with the first one for Oz next week so that'll have to be posted tomorrow at the latest.

Hoping those with ills are slowly picking up, the main thing is to keep warm where possible also hope the Gillybobs had a half-decent night at least xx

Whatever everyone does or doesn't do, look after yourselves.

Brunette10 Thu 09-Jan-20 08:13:02

Morning from a dark but dry Fife, beautiful day yesterday compared to beginning of week. Susan sorry to hear your DH is in hospital hope all goes well for him. Going to do a batch cook again this morning, freezers getting full. Other than a trip to the shops no other plans for today. I hope everyone's day is good for them. Thoughts are with everyone feeling poorly. Take care.

Marydoll Thu 09-Jan-20 08:17:06

Good morning all from a wet and cold Glasgow, Yiayia, wrap up well and bring your wellies.
PM if you need any ideas or advice on transport, if you are coming to Glasgow. Glad to help!

Susan, so sorry to hear about your husband, that's all he needs after everything else that has happened in the last year.

Nothing much planned today, a trip to Lidl, some church admin and then pick up DGD from nursery later on in the afternoon. I'm planning on having a rest.
I ventured out yesterday to pick up my Click and collect boots and couldn't resist a wander. Bad move! I overdid it and had an angina attack in M&S, sad. I just sat in the fitting room until it passed! The afternoon was spent lying down! What a waste of an afternoon, time is precious.

As always, thinking of Gilly, Dragonfly, and especially EllaKeat, who has posted very upsetting news on another thread.
oldgaijin, I hope you are a bit further forward than you were yesterday and Urmstongran, are you on the mend?
I apologise, if I have forgotten anyone. flowers.
Enjoy your day!

NanKate Thu 09-Jan-20 08:22:06

Morning Mick and All from a reasonable looking day here in South Bucks.

I too am venturing out NannyJ from the Sick Bay. We need a food shop DH says he will do it all, but to be honest he buys lots of things we really don’t need. Then this afternoon we are going to see Knives are Out which I have been banging on about for weeks.

Susan best wishes to your DH for a speedy return home. Ginny what would your friend do without you? You are a star ?. Lots of love a good wishes to our Gillybob. Do you have a bucket in your hall Kitty you must be fed up of the dripping?

Mapleleaf Thu 09-Jan-20 08:25:16

Good morning,

It's damp and grey here today, though for now the rain has eased off a bit.

Off to my first Pilates class today. Looking forward to it. I couldn't find my old yoga mat so I think I must have got rid of it so, if I enjoy Pilates then it looks like I will have to get a new one.

Hope you and your DH are sorted soon and home from A & E, Susan before much longer. There's nothing worse than spending hours waiting in those places - the time seems to drag interminably.

Take care everyone.

GrannySomerset Thu 09-Jan-20 08:25:29

Early hair appointment then DH for hospital check up. Choir practice later. Not enthused about any of it so suspect January blues.

So many posters having a difficult and worrying time, so supportive wishes to Marydoll, Gilly, Susan, EllaKeat and all of you dealing with health and other worries. Sharing concerns here does help and saves me from boring nearest and dearest with my comparatively minor concerns.

Lins1066 Thu 09-Jan-20 08:26:20

Good Morning Mick and all. Windy here in S Wales
Hospital visit yesterday to see bone consultant, Dexa scan showed that I have osteoporosis. He seemed surprised when I said that there was no history of it in the family.

Cleaner coming today, her first visit since before Christmas. Think we will make ourselves scarce.
Sorry to hear of your long time in A&E Susan, hope you will both be home soon. Best wishes to all those feeling unwell or generally low.
