We went last year again and it was the first time I'd been in the Abbey grounds.
Very peaceful and restorative.

There are some very odd things taking place there these days Callistemon. Fairy festival, Dragon festival, Zombie walk to name a few. What any of that nonsense has to do with Glastonbury I don't know.
I walked up and down the High street a couple months ago and felt quite uncomfortable at times, some strange characters sitting about.
All started to change after the hippies arrived.

justnoneed yes, strange that a centre of Christianity like Glastonbury has been inundated with crystal shops!

The Abbey is worth a visit (and I did buy a couple of crystals last time blush).

It's good but not as good as it used to be.

However, it is very near to Glastonbury, so it is well worth a visit to the area.

Just a shame Clarks no longer make the shoes locally, imported from abroad, they have closed the 'firsts' shop and just have the factory one which sells end of lines etc.

We live on the doorstep, but I can’t remember the last time I went. It’s only a bargain if you actually want it. One of my daughters pops over to GAP quite often, they have some good offers, but nothing much that interests me.

It’s nicely set out, lots of places for food and drink, nice clean toilets, and as someone mentioned, adjacent to the high street.

Clarks have a big factory shop there which most people head for. Best advice is to avoid like the plague during school holidays!

We visit a few times a year (from Glastonbury originally and also lived in Street). There are a selection of shops, more expensive brands in a lot of cases but some ordinary stores. Next/M&S/Clarks/Superdry/Sports Direct (sons fav is Cadbury shop!) we usually find something in at least one of them. It is right by the High Street so you can walk out to that too, although not a great deal there these days. If you go on a Thursday there is a market up through the closed off high street.
Street is only a couple miles from Glastonbury, used to walk between the two in my younger days. Unfortunately Glastonbury is not the lovely town it once was, lots of crystal shops and suchlike.

Was told this morning [being newly back to this country after 44 years] that there is a fantastic "outlet centre" at Street in Somerset. Looked it up and found it to be south of Glastonbury. Does anyone have any further information or recommendations please? Thank you in advance.
