Conspiracy theories

Vampirequeen some of the conspiracy theories seem more credible than many news items in the tabloids.

I've got better things to fill my little 'ol brain with, who cares!? Unless they're being taught to children that is, eg. creationism.

Alex Jones is always good for a conspiracy theory or two! I worked with a fellow who constantly tried to convince us that the Sandy Hook shooting was staged. He also maintained that it was MI6 who assassinated Lord Mountbatten, because he was involved in anti-government plotting!

Or ....we may be an alien child's holiday project that he forgot about!

Oh yes, I too love a good conspiracy theory! Well to start with, I wonder whether we really did land on the moon! There have been numerous programmes explaining why it didn't happen ( and of course numerous explaining that it did happen). I do also wonder though, why, with our advanced technology hasn't anybody landed there since?

Then there are always:

the men in black
UFOs
aliens living amongst us
the Illuminati
the secrets in the Vatican Library
the face on Mars
Francis Bacon wrote Shakespeare's works
the Earth is hollow
the danger of con trails

The list is endless. You can find a conspiracy regarding just about anything. Some are just weird and disprovable....why doesn't any flat earther ever set up a trip to the great ice cliffs? But others might make you stop and think for a while.

I can't be doing with them at all.

Aliens are definitely the best. ? So many different theories which can explain absolutely anything and everything, and none can be proved or disproved. They even say Jesus was an alien.

There are a lot of weird theories around 9/11 too, and they claim to have evidence but I've never looked into it.

I love conspiracy theories. One of my favourite programmes was the X Files! I remember my mother telling me, as a child, that paintings of angels with haloes could have been spacemen wearing helmets and later I loved the Chariots of the Gods by Erich Von Daniken. To me they were no more ridiculous than religious stories (from any religion).
Currently I am seeing Dr Who's Slitheens in Johnson, Trump and Putin (plus a few others) and keep waiting for them to burst from their skins.

I have enough problems coping with real life, let alone weird theories about aliens.

I once remember the Deacon at a church I was attending saying that if there were aliens, then God created them and loved them, so we should too.

I’m sure there are plenty of down to earth conspiracies, Trump has been incredibly clumsy, he is the public tip of the iceberg, plenty are covered up.

As for little green men, no, any civilization advanced enough to travel across galaxies would die laughing at the way earthlings behave.

I work with someone who is very big on conspiracy theories, especially the Illuminati, he’s a very sensible fellow, and I usually end up half agreeing with him.

I might be wrong, but I thought it was Marlow who penned Shakespeares plays, anyone but Shakespeare perhaps.

There are so many theories about 9/11 some of them quite credible. Lots of info going around now about the cloud formations we see now and strange reflections which are appearing.
The BBC is felt to be a total conspiracy on its own by some people.

Not interested in aliens but can bore for Britain on Anastasia, or could when I was first reading about her.

My favourite is that JFK committed suicide.

My DH is a real conspiracy buff with loads of books on them so I know pretty much all of them. I'm not sure that I believe many of them, though I do find them interesting. It's a good thing for people to question the official line - history has told us that things can be not what they seem, and also that the powers-that-be DO lie sometimes. Some conspiracy theories are clearly nuts, but others give you pause for thought.

Mine is (and I say it to make people pull strange faces) is that man never went to the moon. Sometimes I believe it myself.

An unusual conspiracy theory (dental phobics - look away now!)
Researching reviews of my local dental practices, I found this:
"The dentist at this practice are Covertly placing DBS (deep brain stimulation) in patients teeths. They will widen the teeth cavity for the procedure. They also mix the anaesthetic with a form of virus which left me sick for over a week after having the injection."

My favourite debunker is that if the earth were really flat, cats would have pushed everything off the edge.
