Today decided to de clutter my wardrobe, and finding out I’ve got flared and bootleg trousers cigarette trousers, etc etc do I give to charity or do I keep just in case they all come into fashion again one day! I’m very much into my skinny leggings, jeans, I’m thinking maybe they should go as I tried the bootleg ones on and even those I thought, oh too much material at the bottom, so I’ve put them in charity bag, eaten my lunch had a cuppa and still pondering stay or goooo haha

I tapered mine to make them into skinny, they need to have an ordinary seem though as opposed to the top stitched one.

Good idea rosenoir ?

You can still buy bootcut and flared jeans, so I'm guessing they're still fashionable, though skinny/straight seem to be the norm. I also have some bootcuts tucked away (with labels still intact!) and am wondering if I really should let them go. I'm sort of wondering who decides whether they are right or wrong in any case! Maybe I'll be brave and wear them - although when Storm Dennis has gone away - all that wet fabric flapping around my ankles is just not a good idea.

Keep!
You may even wish to crop them, but this Spring /Summer's all about wide legs.

Auntieflo Sun 16-Feb-20 14:20:22

I need wide leg trousers, and they are a devil to find ones that really fit me properly.

I would love to wear skinny, tight fit ones, but I'm afraid I would scare the neighbours ( and friends)

I have been decluttering the wardrobe too.Half the outdated trousers have gone and half in a suitcase in the loft just in case??

This must be National Sorting Out Your Wardrobe Day!

merlotgran Sun 16-Feb-20 14:26:43

I would keep them. Bootcut jeans never really go out of fashion because they are so slimming.

TrendyNannie6 Sun 16-Feb-20 14:32:13

I’m forever just sorting out my wardrobe but sadly up until recently my sorting out the wardrobe meant taking them all out throwing on the bed, looking through them still liking everything I’ve got and back they all went lol but this time it’s chucking on the bed trying on then deciding what to do with them. I have taken few bags to charity though, now everything that’s gone back is colour coordinated until the next session, I so envy these ppl that can go charity, Keep. Charity .keep !

merlotgran Sun 16-Feb-20 15:15:16

By the time I've worn my jeans out they're not even fit for the garden let alone a charity shop. grin

Charleygirl5 Sun 16-Feb-20 15:19:23

I would be inclined to keep them- that fashion will return.

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 16:11:42

They're in fashion again!

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 16:12:44

Or mid-calf length wide trousers seem to be in vogue with young women and teenagers.

ElaineI Sun 16-Feb-20 16:21:05

Flares are back in fashion now - in Next M&S New Look H&M and probably others!

Callistemon Sun 16-Feb-20 16:23:21

It's a devious marketing ploy to get people to part with their cash!

Kalu Sun 16-Feb-20 16:46:51

I won’t be wearing flares or wide leg calf length.

Two reasons: 1. Too old to wear flares again and I would look
silly.
2. Wide cut calf length and I would look
ridiculous. Not a flattering look in my book.

Quite happy living in skinny jeans, denim, cord or velvet and my latest purchase, wax coated, great for chilly windy days.

Purpledaffodil Sun 16-Feb-20 16:54:04

Possibly because I’m tall, I’m very fond of straight leg and jeggings /treggings. Never like full length wide trousers but I find the ones cropped below the calf for summer are great. So pleased to hear they’re still in fashion as I bought a few pairs in the sales last year.?

Happygirl79 Sun 16-Feb-20 17:03:16

One thing for sure. If you bin them they will come back in fashion the following week

annep1 Sun 16-Feb-20 17:17:35

I think a bit like Kalu. I don't like bootcut or flares any longer so would give to charity shop. But anything I do like I am keeping from now on. I'm fed up discovering something I disposed of is fashionable again.
Also I am trying to wear things until they look a bit worn rather than renewing all the time. It's such a waste.

shysal Sun 16-Feb-20 17:22:57

I crop mine for the summer. I don't even bother to hem them, just roll up twice. I like NYDJ jeans, which are normally expensive, but find bargain bootcut ones on Ebay to use in this way.

Lewie Sun 16-Feb-20 17:27:16

I gathered all my bootleg jeans together (new or lightly worn because the fashion changed so fast!) and sold them on eBay as a 'bundle'. I used to love bootleg jeans, but just don't like myself in them anymore. Maybe an 'age' thing? wink

BBbevan Sun 16-Feb-20 17:53:20

Ditch them and buy straight leg or skinny.

BlueBelle Sun 16-Feb-20 17:58:36

I don’t have any bootlegs in my wardrobe fot about eight years or more but I think they are on the way back I think skinny is heading out so if you ve held onto them this long I d keep hanging, skinny have been in a very long time due a change

BlueBelle Sun 16-Feb-20 17:59:34

I love bootleg and will be happy if they come back I m bored with skinny now
