I just love the brummie accent , I could listen to it all day, and the sexy french one

Grannybags Mon 17-Feb-20 21:00:39

Geordie, even though I don't always understand it!

I think Italian is much more sexy than French grin

paddyanne Mon 17-Feb-20 21:02:32

Irish, north or south love them all ,Italian would be my second choice

I feel at home with Cockney because I was born in London but I love all regional accents. It would be very boring if we all used Received Pronunciation like the BBC used to do years ago. I'm glad that many different accents are heard on radio and TV now.

Geordie and also Lancashire, both make me feel safe and both friendly.
I think I've read somewhere that Geordie and Scottish accents are preferred by call centre because they are thought to be trustworthy.

French every time! wink

Jane10 Mon 17-Feb-20 21:08:19

Geordie and French for me.
Least favourite accent Liverpool. Sorry any Liverpudlian Grans.

threexnanny Mon 17-Feb-20 21:22:52

Southern Ireland especially when they pronounced words starting with th!
Anyone speaking English when it isn't their first language as I am so bad at learning languages.

Greenfinch Mon 17-Feb-20 21:28:14

Geordie because it reminds me of my father.

It's got to be southern Irish for me. It's just such a soft friendly sounding accent and they say How Arrr yuh when you go to the bar and it means what do you want to drink and That's Grand for ok. So welcoming

anniezzz09 Mon 17-Feb-20 21:42:04

Soft Scottish accent like David Tennant's, gorgeous. Southern Irish but then my family are Irish, French and Italian.

Esspee Mon 17-Feb-20 21:44:52

Scottish like Sean Connery.

Marilla Mon 17-Feb-20 22:44:31

Southern Irish is beautiful.

Chewbacca Mon 17-Feb-20 22:51:14

Welsh. Lyrical, almost musical and, imo, the most beautiful.

mokryna Mon 17-Feb-20 22:54:08

I like Welsh also it's soothing

Callistemon Mon 17-Feb-20 23:51:28

Not all Welsh accents though!! They're not all lilting and lovely although some are, but naming no places grin

As a Liverpudlian Gran I absolutely hate the way the Liverpool accent has changed over the recent years , it's awful , it sounds lazy, drawn out and completely different to how it was , I lived ,worked in Liverpool in the 60,s and it was never as bad as it sounds now, think how Paul Mc Cartney, sounds , that , to me is a more genuine, gentle Liverpool accent, I think Brookside the soap started this phoney accent and over the years it got more exaggerated and not for the best,, Rant over !!

I'm with paddyann on this. Irish (most versions) and Italian (not sufficiently tuned in to recognise all the variations there).

I love the Canadian accent....the rolling of the Rs and the As,....not twangy like the Americans but good diction ....

NotSpaghetti Tue 18-Feb-20 00:31:29

But I do also hold many of the Welsh accents dear. These are voices of my childhood.

I spend a lot of time on the phone, as soon as I hear a good northern accent, I feel like they’re going to be nice, they usually are, if a bit blunt. I like Liverpool, I find the welsh and Scottish accents pleasing, and again, they’re usually nice.

Sorry Londoners, that’s the one I really dislike, closely followed by Bristol and Birmingham.

I love the Kiwi accent - gentler than some of the Australian ones and with delightful lilts and pronunciations. For an example : ‘hit’ instead of ‘hat’ . The Melbourne accent is lovely too.
(I have to come clean here; I have sons in both countries!)

dragonfly46 Tue 18-Feb-20 08:39:08

I love the Scottish accent.
