I am so cross! About a week ago I had a leak through the living room ceiling during storm Dennis. It is clear where the problem lies as it is where the chimney meets the roof of he bungalow. SIL has been up into loft twice and can see where the problem is and how little water there is and has packed it with towels pending getting a builder in. The flashing round the chimney was no match for the storm.
I have been trying to get a builder in, but they are all very busy. I spoke to the guy who does my garden and he said his neighbour was having some roofing done and he would ask who they used - I got the name and rang them and arranged for them to come and look at it today.
In they came - father and son - slopping around with their hands in their pockets and chewing gum. Shaking heads: "OOhhh - Oohh dear - there is a real weight of water up there - ceiling could come down - we'll need to put up scaffolding (this is a bungalow) etc. etc."
I know the ceiling is not about to come down and that there is not a huge amount of water up in the loft as SIL has been up there twice.
I think he could see I was a woman on my own and thought he would try it on - I feel very angry about this - makes me feel quite sick.
