Poppyred Sun 01-Mar-20 23:06:23

My glass and a half is the milk in a Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate bar ?

Haven't had anything alcoholic this year not even whisky sauce on my haggis

Namsnanny Mon 02-Mar-20 00:59:08

Sorry mis read the thread title, I was going to come on and moan about the chocolate bar not tasting the same since the American take over! smile

Not in me. Generally I prefer soft drinks, although I did enjoy a small glass of red wine with lunch yesterday.

The bottle with two glasses from it drunk (DH had a glass as well) still sits on the kitchen worktop.

It's certain that the glass is half empty for a lot of people who post but then we have no idea what they are battling in their personal lives. Maybe they feel justified in taking their angst out on others.

Nor do we know their mental states, or what sort of medication they're on (liquid or otherwise) grin.

When I read these posts I simply think, there's summat not right up top and feel sorry for them.

Such a brilliant comment BradfordLass - it can’t be bettered.

BradfordLass73; Please don't cry for me! I had a CAT scan of my brain in hosp. recently and everything is AOK
In fact I think the radiation must have revitalised previously dormant cells which occur as we age and now I feel sharper than ever! shock
But what's this about half glasses? Glasses here are either full or empty; nothing by halves. Back in hosp., topic of the day (and night) was half-full bladders, but that's another story! grin

Bradfordlass73 thank you, that’s how I’m going to look at them from now on!

I never drink on my own. Not being specially virtuous, but I feel that drinking alcohol is a social activity, though fifty-odd years ago, I used to have a G&T before going out on a date. I also don't drink because, living alone, I am my own driver and even if I am spending the evening with friends I limit myself to one glass of wine.

Poppyred Tue 03-Mar-20 11:40:02

This isn’t about drink annodomini it’s about kindness.

Chestnut Tue 03-Mar-20 12:37:13

That's helpful Poppyred as I think we've all been a bit confused! When anyone says 'glass and a half' I immediately think of Cadbury's!

Poppyred Tue 03-Mar-20 12:41:00

Yes the advert chestnut where the 2 boys throw a bar of chocolate to the old guy who hasn’t been very nice to them. ??

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 03-Mar-20 12:41:49

I think I'm less confused now! I hope there's a pint and a half of kindness in me but mostly no alcohol so someone else has three pints.

Poppy How about "Drink to me only with thine eyes and I will pledge with mine" Something like that!
Now that's kinda kind, wouldn't you agree? grin

Oh dear, even more confused now. Have you been referring to an advert with some boys, a man and a bar of chocolate Poppyred? Is that what the thread is about?

Poppyred Tue 03-Mar-20 15:11:27

Never mind chestnut .....
