Between raising children, keeping a house, working and studying I've realised I've not done anything just for me for a long time. I'm hoping for some ideas and inspiration before I forget me completely! x

My daughter is always busy and takes time out occasionally for a massage or has a manicure. I know these cost money but just going out on your own maybe for a coffee or a walk in countryside can be good for you.

Go onto gransnet!

Buy a lot of books and White wine, then have entire afternoons, evenings just reading and sipping. Simple pleasures.

Aren't you studying for yourself?

When I returned to education as a mature student I felt that it was for myself. i loved it.

kittylester Mon 02-Mar-20 16:18:44

I was going to say that curvy. grin

I also meet friends for lunch/tea and I volunteer for the Alzheimer's Society.

My favourite 'me' thing, though, is buying flowers and having them around the house.

I fish - or at least, I will fish when I am fit again. I love the solitude of rivers and large upland reservoirs, so that you can be ‘in the moment’ with nature, the weather, and the landscape around you. Well, something has to compensate you for when the fish are turning their noses up at every fly in your box!?

I hadn't looked at studying being for me, it's to be able to move up in my career. I suppose it is for me but it's sometimes quite stressful and time consuming x

Read whenever I want. iPad whenever I want. Recently joined a choir on my own.
Love to sing so I guess that’s just to indulge me....

Yennifer Mon 02-Mar-20 16:56:29

I wish I could sing! I love singing but my cat does it better lol x

Art classes and I play a tin whistle. I sometimes go to the cinema alone. So relaxing.

Bellasnana Mon 02-Mar-20 17:05:51

I travel as often as I can. ✈️

joannapiano Mon 02-Mar-20 17:08:27

I go out one evening a week to sing with the local choir.

Yennifer, I was just going to say that studying may not be for yourself but for work purposes. If you can choose your subject just because you find it interesting then that is for yourself. If you're told you need a refresher course or have to learn new legislation, regulations, or systems then that is studying for work!

Having my nails done. I wake up early so everyday I get at least 2 hours of Classic FM and reading without the tv on in the background, it's heaven.

janeainsworth Mon 02-Mar-20 17:21:24

Work in my garden. That’s for me as no one else cares what it looks like.

GN, and walking, Tai Chi and Pilates and my abiding interest for the last 40 years - archaeology, especially landscape archaeology. - fired by my, then, 4 year old son's interest in the subject, I did a part time certificate course when I was working and a further degree when I retired and am active in several local societies.

Both DH and I were agreed that we would never stop each other following subjects we were interested in. It did mean in the early years DH coming home on a Friday after a week or more overseas, to have me hand house and children to him Saturday am while I went off on a course, or he would come home as above and disappear off on a diving weekend the following day.

I sew every moment I can - I also knit, read, paint watercolours and am teaching myself to embroider.

Yennifer Mon 02-Mar-20 17:31:39

Oo embroidery is very interesting!

Yennifer Mon 02-Mar-20 17:34:32

I am actually flying soon but that's a bit stressful with everything going on and I will be with other family and young children to entertain lol x

ninathenana Mon 02-Mar-20 17:46:39

I have my nails done and can happily spend a few hours at a time doing a jigsaw

When we came back from Spain I decided I would have fresh flowers in the house every week, they were expensive in Spain and didn't last. Two years on it is still a delight.

I also enjoy Gransnet and being able to order things easily on line, but my big thing is having a zizz in the afternoon in my OWN room.

Yennifer Mon 02-Mar-20 18:51:12

More naps would be amazing! x

Cherrytree59 Mon 02-Mar-20 20:38:13

My Yoga class

Yennifer Mon 02-Mar-20 20:51:57

Yoga class would be great, I try to do it at home but finding the time and motivation is hard even though I feel so much better after x
