My daughter lives in a block of flats which caters for those with Special Needs. I want to buy a Smart TV for her so that she has plenty to occupy her during the next month - year? I am told that she will need the internet before it will work. Is this so?

A problem is that the residents are not allowed to install wifi themselves in case they fall behind with payments and this would rebound on the Trust who provide shelter.

Does anyone know, please if it is possible for me to set up an account, in my name, that would make it possible for her to access wifi at her home?

I would speak to the trust they seriously can’t expect people to be denied the internet especially at this time. To answer your question she needs to be online to use Smart TV online functions.

Yes, a smart tv needs internet.

You can have broadband installed but have you as a bill payer.

If there is no cable supply in the building then it would have to be BT or Talk Talk.

Thank you both so much. Really appreciate your help.

There are plenty of others besides BT and TalkTalk. Have a look at a comparison site. If you are the bill payer, I can't see that there's a problem.

I bought a smart TV from a well known department store. The men who delivered (at cost) fiddled around for ages then walked out leaving me with a non-working TV.

It was the kindness of another GN member and her husband who live close by to me who got it set up. Plusnet is one of the cheapest provided one does not want too much which suits me.

Good luck.
