My OH went to Sainsbury's this morning and
they were handing out free flowers to older people and Medics in the early morning slot. They had bought so many for Mother's Day and sadly they were not sold. It certainly lifted my spirits and made my day. What a lovely thread Gabriella thank you so much for starting it.

I too received a lovely bunch of daffs from Sainsbury this morning, cheered me up, so nice of them.

Chatting to our toddler grandson on FaceTime. He uses sign language a lot and unexpectedly used the sign for friends when he spotted his older cousins!

Also saw our GD enjoying a tiny slice of cake on her first birthday. We were supposed to be there but at least we got to share the moment online.

Yesterday I had a surprise video phone call from all of my children at the same time. There is a programme they used (called Zoom - I think my son recommended it and then my husband set it up) where we could all see and chat to each other at the same time, including my daughter and granddaughter who are in New Zealand. It was just so good to see and hear them all catching up in person rather than on our usual WhatsApp group. I'm still smiling about it today.

An e-mailed photo of my grandson, who is crawling now, getting into mischief. He has upturned the cat's bowl of biscuits for starters. She was not impressed but made me smile.

It's been lovely to read all the comments. I think sunshine and washing blowing in the breeze is favourite...as it has been down through the years.
I remember, during my childhood, mum taking washing off the line that was rigid with foggy/ice. It was funny to see shirts stiff as a board that you couldn't possibly bend to put in the clothes basket or on the maiden. ????

Our local corner shop let me have two containers of milk - normal ration is one per customer - so that I could take them to my neighbour who’s in isolation. Online grocery order arrived with only three substitutions! ? It’s warm enough to open lots of windows and let the breeze cleanse the air!

A lovely thread Gabriella, it does us good to think of the positives in life. ??

Afternoon Tea - The making and the eating of.....

It's such a gorgeous sunny day, it really cheered me up. 3 loads of washing all dried on the line outside and smelling lovely. Passing strangers on a walk (whilst keeping a distance) and nodding to each other in recognition of the measures we are all taking. A lovely video of my 5 year old and 2 year old DGC dancing like loons around their kitchen to Bamboleo, Bamboleo!

We saw all the children and grandchildren at once yesterday electronically through an app called House Party ! The youngest aged 18 months pointed at the screen and said ma-mar - I’m convinced (and the others thought) she recognised me and meant Grandma! I was thrilled!

Sounds a bit weird but what cheered me up was that a couple of my pots need watering!!

That means that it hasn’t rained for a while?

One year old youngest GS spotted us on the screen, grinned and waved, made my day!

I am still grinning at the Mothers day card from DD made by DGD in which a picture of me is constructed in sparkly stickers with lurid glasses.she obviously thinks I look like Dame Edna Everage !

I decided to make some biscuits (for the first time ever)

Whether or not they will, if my spirits remains to be seen.
It's a Prue Leith recipe but, as usual with my cooking, a variation so I am calling them 'leftover biscuits.'

Some leftover crumble mix, one lonely egg, a too-ripe banana, the remains of a muesli packet, raisins instead of sultanas ,eft from Christmas, bits of walnuts, sugar and flour, oh and I tidied up the butter dish. And orange rind.

I hope they don't have to go out to feed the birds!

We had a in the garden in lovely spring hoping to get some Vitamin D

Going for a drive out into the countryside and seeing all the lambs in the fields, hearing birdsong, all in beautiful bright sunshine.

It's the little things that have now become the big things.

As I work in well know supermarket I have seen the struggles of young families trying to find Baby formula ,limited to 2 in our store.

On Saturday I went to Morrisons in local town to shop for my mum, there was a young man picked up 3 baby formulas.

He was only allowed 2 so had to leave one.

When he had left the till area I asked could I buy the other one which I did( I only had two items so knew I could catch the chap up)
Which I did and he was so grateful and offered to pay me for it , I just said no you take and let baby enjoy.

Anyway going back to last week my DD had to dash up to the hospital as Grandsons great nan was dying, DD rushed and hit a curb denting her wheel.

Today she went to garage/tyre place who said it will be £40 leave car come back in an hour.

Took her back to pick car up. she come out beaming! they told her "no charge" as she works for nhs

how kind was that. so yes spirits lifted (along with me winning the Bettys Hamper) I shall virtually share it with Gn when it arrives.

So...it was a case of ..one good turn deserved another.

bikergran there are some lovely stories out there. I think that sometimes GN is very skewed and should probably come with a health warning itself.

My DD bought me a lilac bush. Madame Lemoine.It came to day and I planted it in the garden. I just adore lilac. Such a beautiful, thoughtful present.
