100 caplets of co-codamol sold for £7800.00 on eBay tonight. I bought 1 packet of 32 for £1.89 plus postage from an online pharmacy.

shock shock why would anyone pay that

annep1 Mon 23-Mar-20 22:26:50

Why indeed. Strange.

They can be addictive. Someone is either addicted or is going to make a profit selling them on or has no intention of paying but just winding up the seller. Probably using a fake account to bid.

There are quite a few boxes of 100/120 still being bid on for several thousand pounds. 2 strips, 10 tablets per strip, for £43.00.

As they cannot be sold unless a pharmacist is on duty, I cannot believe they are allowed to be sold on EBay

Missfoodlove Mon 23-Mar-20 23:38:55

I just checked this out, responsible sellers are deliberately putting crazy bids on these items to draw attention to what they are doing!
These are being sold without the appropriate license so ebay cannot enforce payment.

Hetty58 Mon 23-Mar-20 23:43:33

That's correct, we do that to point them out.

These will be being sold to opiate addicts. As we know addicts will do anything to get their fix.

ebay has worldwide sellers and providing the seller is based in a jurisdiction that does not have any restrictions on how these medications can be sold, it is quite legal to sell them.

There will be many people going from pharmacy to pharmacy in the UK to get them, even in these difficult times

Probably just a wind up.

I have just been charged £3.60 for 32 paracetamol from my local chemist. There are none to be had in the supermarkets and they are the only pain killers I am allowed. Last week they cost 60p from Tesco.
When all this is over that is one shop I won't be visiting again.

Curlywhirly Tue 24-Mar-20 10:32:26

Paracetamol still 27p in Lidl!!

midgey Tue 24-Mar-20 10:35:02

The pharmacies have to pass on price rises. The world is fighting this virus not just Britain.

Happygirl79 Tue 24-Mar-20 10:55:34

It will be a non paying 'buyer'
Someone making a statement
The seller can't report the non payer to Ebay without drawing attention to an illegal listing!

Missfoodlove Tue 24-Mar-20 12:12:02

The raw ingredients for Paracetamol come from India mainly.
The Indian government are stopping the export as they say their need comes first.
