Did I dream it about not deep cleaning your house (Boris)

Deep clean - no!

Weren't we supposed to be using separate bathrooms? (Such a good example of how out of touch our leaders are). Separate houses, maybe?

Seriously, though, taps and door handles, freezer and fridge handles - but most of all, hands!

The advice to clean kitchen work surfaces after shopping flummoxed me. I don't put my shopping on work surfaces, do you?

Post and parcels are picked up with gloves (or hands in two doggie bags) then left aside for two days before opening.

Obviously, frozen/fridge food has to be put away but any other shopping goes in the hall for two days as well.

Anything for/from the fridge or freezer is handled with gloves, too, not left on work surfaces and packaging promptly binned.

I've read that the virus can live for two plus years in a frozen state (very worrying, I do hope it's wrong) so the fridges and freezers here will be getting a deep clean when this is all over!

Whom are you addressing unan?

Last month Boris was a total liar....This week you hang on his every word.

Use your good old fashioned common sense, failing that - Take a basic science lesson online.

So I have been told by a GP re other infections.
COVID19 has been found in the saliva of infected patients.

It seems logical.

Greeneyedgirl Wed 25-Mar-20 10:00:15

I don't see the logic of not sharing toothpaste if I'm sleeping with OH hmm. That's providing that neither of us are showing signs of Covid19 of course.

Framilode Wed 25-Mar-20 09:58:07

Used the wrong brackets.

Framilode Wed 25-Mar-20 09:57:16

What Callistemon ALL of them? (grin).

boheminan Wed 25-Mar-20 09:57:10

Oh, so maybe I didn't dream it

Callistemon Wed 25-Mar-20 09:53:22

Because the virus can live for days on different surfaces, you may touch the top of the tube, the toothpaste in the tube, with your toothbrush and therefore pass on the virus, Calendargirl. You could be asymptomatic but other people in your household may be more susceptible to the virus.
All your secretions may be infected.

We never share a tube of toothpaste simply because he likes his and I like mine.

I can see the logic in not sharing of course.

And sipping a glass of something nice Laughterlines!
?
I can think of better activities than housework any day.

Laughterlines Wed 25-Mar-20 08:50:05

Nah don’t bother. It will only need doing again next year. Spend your time usefully eating creme eggs.

Pikachu Wed 25-Mar-20 08:46:27

We used to call it ‘bottoming’ a room, and something many of us do at this time anyway is Spring Cleaning. I didn’t realise I was doing a Deep Clean.

Calendargirl Tue 24-Mar-20 10:43:28

I thought it was toothbrushes you shouldn’t share, but it’s something I would never share, even with DH.
Can’t see why toothpaste is unshareable.

Curlywhirly Tue 24-Mar-20 10:42:52

Witzend I know what you mean about wearing your reading glasses - I am a fanatical cleaner, always doing something; but only wear my glasses if I am reading. If I do leave them on, I am horrified at all the dust I have missed. Must wear my glasses more often!

boheminan Tue 24-Mar-20 10:29:57

I thought I read somewhere (or was I dreaming) that we shouldn't share a tube of toothpaste?

The problem with Boris its a job to understand his speech , as he tends to talk gobbledegook, and his voice does not reach the back of the class so to speak as he is not a clear speaker.

Why should your house need a deep clean unless someone living there has had COVID19? confused
I which case I would think you may need professionals in.

Witzend Tue 24-Mar-20 09:36:33

I don’t get all this ‘deep clean’ business anyway. I’m sure it used to refer to the sort of completely-disinfecting sort of clean needed in operating theatres, etc. - just not possible in a normal home.

What happened to the good old ‘thorough clean’? (Which in this house - when it happens - means needing to have my glasses on so I can see the dust!)

Pikachu Tue 24-Mar-20 08:24:28

Think this was the Old Boris speaking last week. New Boris might think it’s a good stay at home therapy.

bikergran Tue 24-Mar-20 08:17:50

I must find it im sure I read it!! hmm

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 24-Mar-20 08:14:20

Wishful thinking?

bikergran Tue 24-Mar-20 07:58:42

I was reading Boris speech last night, Im sure! I read "Don't deep clean your home"

Have I dreamt it confused I cant find it again. hmm
