Going through CDs - Which one(s) are your memory jerkers.

Not an easy question for me to answer, there are too many in my collection that jerk my memory. I find a lot of music evokes a memory in a way nothing else does. Some are happy memories even when the music itself is quite melancholy and others are sad when the music is upbeat. Music is so evocative of place, time and person/people. These include David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - teenage heartthrob and Pink Floyd's Division Bell - University years, etc etc etc...

I have a large collection but mainly Motown albums , plus other compilations and the odd stage musical one ,when I have visited shows.

What my OH calls my Sunday morning collection,James Taylor,Eric Bibb,Barbra Streisand,The Blue Nile and Rebecca Pidgeon.

Same as Alima for me, I think that LP came out in 1969,
I bought the CD a couple of years ago and it’s still lovely for the most part, to listen to.One or two songs a bit dated, but generally brings back so many happy memories.

Nora Jones. Lots of memories associated to her album. I don't listen to it often for that reason.

Music is the bane of my life, can't get away from its hateful, whining notes. Everywhere you go people assume you want to hear their highly annoying music.

Never owned any CDs but I once, when I was 15, bought 'American in Paris/Rhapsody in Blue' as an LP - played it almost to extinction.
I remember telling spooky stories to my friends accompanied by RIB. Good times.

Have never owned any music since. Bliss.

Early soulful Bee Gees tracks, Simon and Garfunkel, mostly wistful music. Still love it. Straight back to University when I hear these.

I listen to music a lot so nothing new for me. Have to agree with Lettice, Scott Walker had a fabulous voice. His No Regrets album is one of my favourite of all time.

I'm another Scott Walker fan ! Along with Runrig (look them up , Donovan, Leonard Cohen, Chris Rea, Cliff Richard, Simon and Garfunkel .................... so many of them on Cassette/CD/Video/DVD.

My list is endless, Motown especially .... and it really does help pass some time, reminisce and stay calm while going thro these challenging times.

It's the late 50's to early 60's......pop music that was played at the roller drome in Wolverhampton.
The song... ' living doll'..... was one in particular. Over & over again. ?
We teenagers had such fun, I had very dark hair and after a roller session always went home grey
from the amount of French chalk that was well spread to keep our wheels spinning fast.
Bobby Darin and ' beyond the sea'.......it was our very first cruise, and the first music we heard after we got on board the QE2.....
Cliff Richards song ' congratulations' was sung over the phone to me when exam result were known.
It's surprising how many tunes bring back memories both happy and sad.
Now back to the house work.

I’ve been playing old 45s and Albums on DHs record player took me a while to remember how it worked. Lots of ELO, Micheal Jackson, Mike Oldfield and of course the Beatles. Some of the memories bring me to tears.
