I don’t know if anyone can help but about a month ago I started experiencing sharp, stabbing almost electric shock like pain behind my right knee. The pain isn’t constant but when it strikes it takes my breath away. Luckily, my brother in-law is a physiotherapist so I went and saw him and he asked my symptoms and did a full assessment and found that I have weakness on my right hand side and that my gluteus muscles and core strength are weak. He thinks I may have a slightly herniated disc causing sciatica. He gave me some specific exercises to do for the next 4-6 weeks and prescribed me a mild course of amitriptyline and advised me to get some Co-codamol. He also advised that I may need to have an MRI. The problem is that now we find ourselves in the midst of a corona lock down, there is no chance of me getting an MRI any time soon. I know I have the drugs but firstly I don’t think they are doing very much and secondly they’re not getting to the route of the problem. I have read other sciatica threads on here but I don’t think my symptoms sound the same as others on here? Any help or reassurance would be greatly appreciated at this time - thank you
