Isn’t it strange what excites us now?

Dd2 just messaged in a state of great excitement as she had managed to secure a click and collect grocery slot after 3 weeks!! She only managed to book it as she was up in the middle of the night and thought she would just check online . Little things we took for granted now mean a lot.

I couldn't agree more Katek. It's how I got my delivery slots. And when I managed to get a recurring slot, same time every week, I was overjoyed! Ridiculous really. This time a month ago I was still walking to the shop in the open air.

The binmen took our extra binbag ❤
With no way to go to the tip it is so exciting to have an empty bin

SueDonim Tue 07-Apr-20 12:13:00

We’re looking forward to it being bin day tomorrow. grin

farview Tue 07-Apr-20 12:15:27

...and all our recycling bins have just been emptied whoopee!!

I've got an Amazon delivery due today. It's a very mundane item, nothing exciting ordinarily, but I can't wait for it to come!

Jaycee5 Tue 07-Apr-20 12:25:56

Katek I got one a couple of days ago. I hadn't tried for a while and did it without any expectations of getting one but -there they were.
I even calmed down this time and booked the slot and then did the order a lot more efficiently than I did last time. I did a fairly small order because I didn't want to be greedy when everyone needed one - but I didn't realise how hard it was going to be to get the next slot. I should be ok for at least 3 weeks now. You also have to allow for the fact that there will be a lot of things not available.
I agree with your DD2. This first thing I wanted to do was celebrate and tell people.
I was also really pleased to see the people downstairs get an order today as I have been a bit worried about them. They are about 87/92. I didn't think they would thank me for knocking on their door and they do have big families but I was still relieved. I hadn't heard of the company so I think it might have been a charity.

It was my birthday last Friday and was also my first day out of quarantine. I was so excited because we could go to Morrisons grin.

GagaJo Tue 07-Apr-20 12:47:53

We asked our elderly neighbour if he would like any groceries, which could be added to our order. He declined, but the offer is there, should he need it.

SalsaQueen Tue 07-Apr-20 12:56:13

I've had a delivery from a place called FabFinds - 18 bottles of disinfectant, some leather cleaning spray, some pink Cif, fabric softener, and some cleaning cloths.

giulia Tue 07-Apr-20 12:59:35

We've just ordered 100 masks on internet at normal price.. Only six weeks to wait!

Katek Tue 07-Apr-20 13:05:26

My Amazon spending is creeping up.....mainly activity gifts for the dgc. Build a solar powered robot, science kits and sewing supplies have been ordered! Tried to get online Easter egg delivery-pretty near impossible! I persevered, however, and managed to order. Let’s face it ..... I wasn’t doing much else!! grin

Katek Tue 07-Apr-20 13:06:40

And the absolute sense of triumph when I succeeded was worth it!

SueDonim Tue 07-Apr-20 15:11:57

Another excitement - I bought a large bottle of disinfectant when all this looked likely to kick off. Then it disappeared so I had to find a substitute in scarce supermarkets.

Yesterday, Dh found it again! It was in my former Brexit Box, now renamed my Pandemic Pantry. I am absolutely certain I checked and rechecked it at the time, but anyway, I am very pleased it’s turned up. smile

Callistemon Tue 07-Apr-20 15:20:31

Chewbacca how very dare you order online something which has to be delivered!

I have got into trouble for ordering craft items online which means that someone has to work and someone else has to make an unnecessary journey to deliver them. They are non-essential.
What may seem non-essential to one person may be essential to another.
Eg I haven't ordered 18 bottles of disinfectant perhaps because I have less sense than salsaqueen grin

I promise not to do it again.

Callistemon Tue 07-Apr-20 15:22:29

I think our blackbirds may have chicks, we can't see the nest but they are both busy picking up beakfuls of worms etc.

MawB Tue 07-Apr-20 15:23:44

When I found myself washing my hair and putting lippy on for a Zoom session with the DDs and DGCs I knew where my priorities lie.
(I did also look forward to my Waitrose delivery with a degree of excitement)

SueDonim Tue 07-Apr-20 15:31:51

Oh. My single bottle of disinfection looks paltry against Salsaqueen’s stash. I feel quite deflated now. grin

Hetty58 Tue 07-Apr-20 15:33:38

Waiting for a lemon drizzle cake to cool down has assumed a ridiculous importance right now. I must (eat it warm) distract myself!

Hetty58 Tue 07-Apr-20 15:36:23

Callistemon, we have a resident robin with two nests/mates/broods on the go in different parts of the garden.

The females ignore each other and he visits both nests. Some things never change!

merlotgran Tue 07-Apr-20 15:37:01

My broad bean seeds turned up this morning after I'd completely given up on them.

I'm beyond excited!!! grin

Charleygirl5 Tue 07-Apr-20 15:44:12

I had a Morrison's delivery last week and until today I have not managed to get another slot but I am so excited I have a slot for 2 weeks tomorrow. If I am really lucky I will be able to get tomatoes as well as mushrooms.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 07-Apr-20 15:52:23

I don't do online shopping so what pleases me is when I turn up at the supermarket (just once a week) to find it pleasantly half empty and easier to get round that it was two or three weeks ago when it did an impression of a stampede.

SalsaQueen Tue 07-Apr-20 16:00:51

Just for the record, I use disinfectant every day of the year, but found that the shops (B&M, Wilko, Asda, etc) haven't had any. This little stash will last a while. A friend of mine has got 48 bottles, which I think is ridiculous - but then she steam-cleans her wooden floors with diluted bleach, every day. Madness.

MamaCaz Tue 07-Apr-20 16:13:12

I got excited this morning while out on my bike, when I spotted the first bluebells that I have seen in flower this season.
