My handbag is usually a mess, filled with receipts, hankies, hair clips and all the usual rubbish but I’ve just found something unusual at the bottom of it.
Half a cooked fish finger !
No idea how it got there or how long it’s been there !
Anybody else had a visit from the fish finger fairy ?

My hoover got blocked up when it sucked in a chocolate Father Christmas from under the sofa! Couldn't decide whether to eat it, but as in foil - did! It was wonderful, did scrape dust off first!

I always remember many years ago, my girls and I were on holiday abroad with my mum and on the way to the beach one day we passed the local shop. Outside was a display of melons and mum spotted one just so beautifully ripe so bought it there and then and popped it in her large beach bag. It wasn’t until a few days later that she ‘found’ the melon, having carried it back and forth to the beach several times! ?

I found Mr Potato Head's tongue in mine once

I can pretty much guarantee that there will always be a piece of Lego in most of my handbags, along with an opened packet of those little biscuits you get with coffee/tea in most tea/coffee shops ?

I once found a raw sausage in my cardigan pocket. A bit of a shock when i put my hand in there.
Our freezer is in the garage. I went out to get frozen sausages for a toad in the hole. Took out what i needed but when i got back to the kitchen one was missing. I hunted high and low for that sausage! Found it a few days later!

Thank you so much, Gransnet contributors, for making me howl with laughter this morning! I'll be wondering about the fish finger and high heel all day now. Just wish I could add another hilarious experience to this thread.

Janetbundy ?

NannyJan53 I did exactly the same but with my daughter-in-law's mobile phone. I too am always reminded to check my bag now!

I saved a small piece of steak from a restaurant as a treat for our dog and out it in my handbag. 2 weeks later I couldn't work out what the awful smell was. I had forgotten about it. Ugh

It would make a great game when we grans can get together again. Empty our bags onto the table and see who has the most unusual object!

I always have a large bag and do not close the top zip correctly.

I found two of GC small size dolls (about 7inches) in there and that was last October, they are still in there and now because I cannot go into see them they remind me of the GC every time I have to go in my bag for something. What does that say about me I must return those little dollies.

I cleaned out my bag one November morning . I found 5 substantial smooth pebbles collected from the beach that summer ..

I carry a small handbag so am unlikely to find some of the items you lovely ladies have discovered.

Although, I haven't used handbag for 3 weeks since being banished to work from home, so wonder if I should check the contents just in case blush

Callistemon Wed 08-Apr-20 10:43:19

Mine's very tidy.

?????????

Only because I cleared it out recently on the paracetamol hunt. I found six!

And I haven't been anywhere since.
I must admit the contents nearly filled the kitchen table.
I found a few missing items.

My husband, as a joke, thought he’d put a crabs claw he had found on the beach in my handbag while on holiday. It took me three days to discover it by which time it smelt so bad I had to throw the bag away. Another time he put a potato in my bag which I carried around for a week !

On a bit of a different note. Received a grocery delivery in these uncertain times - no fresh fish but a box of 30 fish fingers. Haven't had any for years, will make a nice change. Maybe it was the fish finger fairy!! Love all the posts.

I found a large table knife in my shopping bag. It's neither mine or DD's, so unlikely to have been put there by DGC. It's waiting to be claimed in my cutlery drawer.

Nannan2 Wed 08-Apr-20 10:48:54

Cheered me up no end ladies!gringrin

grannybuy Wed 08-Apr-20 10:48:56

Apologies - neither mine nor DD's

HiPpyChick57 Wed 08-Apr-20 10:50:28

Reminds me of when my DD was toddling. I used to carry one of those oversized handbags that were all the rage at the time. One day it Dawned on me that said hand bag was heavier than it should have been. On looking inside I discovered a whole lot of stones and pebbles at the bottom. My DD had a habit of picking them up and the prettiest of them she handed to me to save for her. I’d put them in my bag thinking I’d get rid of them later since as soon as they entered my bag DD promptly forgot about them as of course did I, hence humping around half a ton of aggregate for weeks. Strangely enough the bad shoulder I had developed at the time suddenly disappeared soon after I emptied the bag!

This is the best laugh I have had all week - thanks everyone!
Before I was married I got home from work, started to get ready to go out and found a bus ticket inside my tights, on the back of my leg against my calf. I had travelled home by bus but as I hadn't got undressed during the journey and certainly didn't have any kind of 'special' relationship with the bus conductor I cannot fathom that one to this day!

grannybuy shock
It's a good thing the police weren't stopping and searching grannies that day!

I used to keep a spare pair of knickers in my bag, you know, as a 'just in case' precaution. Until one day visiting relatives and having put my bag on the floor, their dog was seen dragging them round the floor, having gone on a visit of exploration in the dark depths of my bag!

inishowen Wed 08-Apr-20 10:58:47

I've found a cooked sausage in the bedroom, courtesy of one of the grandchildren I hope.

micky987 Wed 08-Apr-20 10:59:26

Years ago when I was changing my teenage daughter’s bed I found her filthy muddy rugby boot in it. It hadn’t bothered her one bit, in fact she hadn’t even noticed it was in there!

Jacks10 Wed 08-Apr-20 11:00:25

Had a clutch that I used for special occasions. Got it out for one such evening to find a napkin full of fillet steak bits I had ferreted away at my last "special occasion" for my dogs and cats! Rather green with mould! Needless to say that was the end of that clutch bag!
