Good Morning Everyone,
Its light but looking a bit grey here in Brackley .
Today, join the que again, small shop.
I am starting to miss my days out, but I am keeping in mind when the time comes how many more weeks away that will be as we seem not to obey , on some of the rulings.
Gather more restrictions will be made after Easter .
Mick

So sorry Mary about your friends ??. Keep safe yourself.

Doodle Thu 09-Apr-20 14:06:07

Sorry about your friends marydoll. Brings it home when it’s people you know.

Sad news for me this morning. An aquaintence has died of the virus and a friend has just been taken by ambulance to hospital with breathing difficulties.
She has had a chest infection, but has deteriorated, I'm praying that is only a chest infection.

DIL has just delivered my shopping, God bless her.
She was standing wiping her trolley handle, when a woman leant right over her. When she asked the woamn to move, she made such a fuss. When the woman did it again, DIL gave her a lecture on social distancing. The security guard spoke to my daughter later saying, "I was going to intervene, but I see you are more than capable of looking after your yourself!". DIL is a under 4ft 10 tall and a size eight!

Good afternoon all, Im angry and sad that a minority do not seem to care about others but a case of IM ALL RIGHT JACK attitude, woke up to see loads of caravaners going thru to the Llyn Pensula (spreading germs ) but having got to the shop it had been emptied by holiday makers - again no thought for others. sure we would all like to go for a break but REALLY do they not really observe the law

Taichinan pleased to hear your niece is on the mend.
gillybob glad your son is feeling a bit better. You and your family still in my prayers .
Urmstongran sounds as though your diet will be a bit on the liquid side. Anywhere round you deliver cooked meals?

Doodle Thu 09-Apr-20 12:21:19

Marydoll sorry to hear you have such a bad cough. I know what you mean about the asthma though. The trees are starting to bloom here and that usually gets me. Hope it doesn’t get any worse.
Much as I love your daily tests Miss Doll I would not like to think of you doing that if you are feeling ill. Please don’t overdo it. It has been a lovely thought to keep some of us GNetters occupied and out of trouble (although perhaps not in my case ?) but please don’t wear yourself out doing it.
Much love from your star pupil ?

Taichinan Thu 09-Apr-20 12:11:15

Oh dear, there are 68 people ahead of me. And it's not morning now either! Just wanted to pop in to say that my niece (great-niece actually!) who was diagnosed last weekend as having had the virus, is now well and returned to work today. Such a relief! It has lifted the gloom of the grey skies over the Angus coast ???

Urmstongran Thu 09-Apr-20 12:09:19

Very witty Alygran*! ?

Good morning all from beautiful Devon. Staying in today as I went shopping yesterday. I drive so going to Supermarket is not difficult, getting there for general shopping opening times seems to mean shorter queues (or none at all), shelves are mostly full. I will use my local Co-op for any forgotten bits.

Day in the garden for me, my neighbours are self-isolating although we do stand out in our gardens having a coffee & chat, practicing safe distancing guidelines plus a bit extra, we all spend a lot of time in our gardens so this is no change.

Take care all & let's hope all the 2nd home owners, campers & caravaners stay in their own homes. This also includes those "local" idiots who think driving on to Darmoor or to the Beach for excercise/walk the dog is accaptable

Devon & Cornwall are closedhmm

Karken275 Thu 09-Apr-20 11:02:11

Lovely warm sunny day in Dorset. Just had cuppa on the Balcony watching the birds. Waiting for shopping delivery. Let's hear it for all those drivers who still come out to keep us fed and take risks and hopefully don't get abuse.

gillybob Thu 09-Apr-20 10:40:56

hmm the lack of rice in a risotto is a bit of a problem Urms even Jamie Oliver would struggle.

Urmstongran Thu 09-Apr-20 10:28:38

I’m finishing a large loaf left to rise overnight (look away, Urmston) love it Grandmafrench!

Good ( late) morning from Oxfordshire, it’s a beautiful day the birds are singing and DH has made me a coffee, so all is good.
Apart from the Asthma, debating whether to take the steroids that are for emergencies, but will wait for the call from the Nurse this afternoon, I was going to do so many things today as well......
Stay safe everybody and have a good day.

Grandmafrench Thu 09-Apr-20 10:22:44

Morning all from a sunshiney S of France - where nothing stirs. I’m waiting for Tumbleweed to come blowing past any day now, or The Sheriff to appear in the middle of the street to face down the baddies. Our surreal life continues and in spite of this lovely thread I’ve only just focussed on the fact that it’s Good Friday tomorrow, so I can truly sympathise, Urmston. I’ve sometimes been caught out because of Fête days - but not whilst living in today’s locked down parallel universe, i.e., restaurants/bars/cafés have always been open! Just as well you like cereals, eh.? (Saturday’s post can hopefully be a smug one involving weight loss? )

EV de-stabilising is how I’d describe daily life at the moment.

My DH is currently decking a small corner of the garden, having finally dismantled old pallets saved in the garage. We’ll then have room for another garden bench/cat recliner! I’m finishing a large loaf left to rise overnight (look away, Urmston) Dreading an angry call from our DS in the UK who will be devastated by further extended lockdown dates. His business has been destroyed by the Moron-a virus (as I’ve heard it called) ; but his tone can sometimes sound like it’s my fault. Joys of parenthood. ☹️

Keep that gas man confined to your hob & your kitchen, gilly and if necessary wave a sponge and hot bleach-y water at him. Good luck.

Enjoy the sun where you have it everyone, keep safe and well - and spring flowers to everyone struggling ?x

gillybob Thu 09-Apr-20 10:16:39

Sorry Urms that was cruel.

gillybob Thu 09-Apr-20 10:16:18

Oh I meant to add that I made the most delicious Risotto last night using Jamie Oliver’s idea of substituting this for that.

Basically you just use whatever you happen to have but mine was.....

risotto rice
Tablespoon of olive oil
Finely chopped onion and clove of garlic
Chicken stock cube
Good splash of white wine
Frozen peas
Left over chicken
A knob of butter and a mountain of grated cheddar added at the end.

Can highly recommend it for a cheap and easy supper .

Urmstongran Thu 09-Apr-20 10:12:52

Apologies. Perhaps I’ve over-egged (not possible) the pudding here. We have tinned soup. Tuna. Pasta. Beans. Cereals. Got long life milk, water, teabags, coffee.

Absolutely no need to ask neighbours. The fridge is emptyish. But we do have food. Beans without toast anybody?
?

Good morning Michael, Annie and all, from a sunny bit of Berks.
Looking forward to a Facetime withGD and GGS later this afternoon.
Had a lovely long phone call from my sister in law, yesterday morning. She has been diagnosed with Alzheimers, but you would never know it! She sounded so upbeat.
I am going to make a pie for supper, using up odds and ends. Saves me delving in the freezer and looking for inspiration.
We need some fresh fruit and veg, but apart from that, we are fine, using up things from the store cupboard.
I was thinking of going to the local shop, but our Church buddy has just rung, and she is going to try and get those for us.
Urmstongran, what a disaster, but hope your neighbours can help out with a few bits and pieces.
EllanVannin, my mum and dad used to say that, about the eggs and bacon.
I sent Easter ecards to the GGC , and I am beginning to not miss going shopping.

Saw that you had lost a post * Marydoll*, could GNHQ sort out a Save button? I could do with one.
Our bin-men didn't take our food waste caddy on Tuesday morning, so I emailed the council, and they have emptied it this morning. Everybody else's was emptied!

After missing the super moon on Tuesday evening, I popped outside last night to have a look, and it was an apricoty sort of colour, lovely. It was peaceful, calm and still warm, so could have stayed out for longer.

Better get showered and dressed now, before it's coffee time.
Best wishes to the Gillybobs and all who are having problems.
Take care and stay safe one and all.

Curlywhirly Thu 09-Apr-20 09:54:06

Urmstongran poor Mrs Hubbard! It sounds like a nightmare, on lockdown, and now no food! I love it when my cupboards, fridge and freezer are full, and get quite panicky if I am low on provisions, I would feel bereft in your position. Any chance of borrowing something from a neighbour, a couple of eggs or a tin of beans and a few slices of bread? Good luck!

Susan56 Thu 09-Apr-20 09:48:12

Good morning from the Shropshire borders where we have another sunny day.
Highlight today is the delivery from the local deli??
Today is a garden day,we are alternating gardening and decorating.
Urmston what a nightmare, roll on Saturday.
Stay safe everyone.

Good morning all from another sunny day in mid-Notts. Pasta bake planned for tea and sainsbury's delivery arriving this evening, then clapping for the NHS and key workers who are keeping the country going. Stay safe everyone and may Thursday be kind to us all x
