Do you buy a daily paper and if so which one

Ilovecheese Fri 10-Apr-20 14:24:09

My husband has The Guardian delivered. he says it is well written and that is what he enjoys.
I read it too, although not as thoroughly as he does, and I used to buy the I occasionally before we started isolating.
I find something satisfying about having an actual paper copy, in the same way that I enjoy reading actual books, not Kindle.

No. Read MailOnline.

Guardian. I shove it in the oven for 20 mins at 100c to kill virus every morning?.

TrendyNannie6 Fri 10-Apr-20 14:29:06

Sorry meant to say mine. I have the daily mail

vampirequeen Fri 10-Apr-20 15:05:11

I read the local rag online. I would never read the Star, Express, Daily Mail or the Scum as I like my news to have at least a modicum of truth in it.

I read many different papers but all online.

Lucca Fri 10-Apr-20 15:09:05

The Times. Online. Mainly for the crossword.

We read the Daily Mail because we believe in understanding how those we do not agree with think - and its Medical and Financial sections are excellent and the i, also local paper, Observer and at other times Guardian and Daily Telegraph, we are entirely indiscriminate in our choice of papers.

Liverpool Echo.

Daily Telegraph because DH likes the cryptic crossword.

I seldom buy a hard copy paper, but when I do it is not their politics that makes the decision, but their crossword setters.

Interesting about the oven! Ours isn’t delivered any more but I was concerned about the lurgy

The Daily Mail health pages have shown me alternatives to the very brutal surgeries I would have endured.

The Guardian and the I are just as biased and bigoted but in the opposite direction.

We also had a problem with the fumes from the ink used on some papers choking my OH.

We realised after a while that when people around here refer to “the paper” they mean the local daily paper not the national newspapers. My dad was born around here and despite living most of his life in Sussex was one of the few people who always bought the local paper every evening.

Once a week, Saturday, Telegraph.

(Dons tin helmet, hides behind sofa/couch/settee (god, I winced even typing that word)

Love the GK crossword, Mr P and I do it together.

Is there room for me to shelter with you Phoenix ? Can I have that big cushion for my head please. Yes, it's the Saturday Torygraph for me too, and only the Saturday edition. The puzzles are terrific.

garnet25 Fri 10-Apr-20 18:12:58

The Times and The i

Lucca Fri 10-Apr-20 18:17:58

Not sure how much it matters which paper you read provided you don’t take everything In It as gospel. My mother read the daily mail and referred to it as “the paper”. And believed every word.........

Witzend Fri 10-Apr-20 18:39:26

The Times is delivered every day. It goes in rubber-gloved hands outside for 24 hours, and we read the previous day’s.

Labaik Fri 10-Apr-20 18:55:04

We've now got used to reading the Times online. I couldn't do without Caitlin Morans column in the Saturday magazine.

TerriBull Fri 10-Apr-20 18:59:43

Haven't bought one for the past couple of weeks, if we bought a paper it would be The Times, not every day, maybe several times a week, but would regularly buy The Sunday Times.

Jane10 Fri 10-Apr-20 19:08:32

The Scotsman is delivered every day and I devour it from cover to cover. I absolutely have to do the crossword or I'm grumpy all day!

Davida1968 Fri 10-Apr-20 19:12:13

The Guardian. (It's available online and is free to access, should any GNs want well-reported info in the current crisis - or ever.....)

Curlywhirly Fri 10-Apr-20 20:14:55

I am a socialist, and absolutely abhor the Daily Mail, for obvious reasons, but am ashamed to admit I buy the Mail on Saturday for the sole reason it does have the best TV magazine! Hasten to add, the newspaper gets thrown in the bin, where it belongs!

Calendargirl Fri 10-Apr-20 20:24:41

I buy the Telegraph on a Saturday, I like the TV guide, property, money, review. Not interested in the sport section.
Used to buy the Sunday T until the recent price rise, and decided one a week was sufficient,
It lasts me all week, reading different sections every day.
