What are you missing?

Vampire I assume you don’t mean grandchildren family etc...that goes without saying,

A change of scenery. I'm fed up with the same four walls and looking out at my garden, nice as it is.
I want to look at someone else's.
Also stopping for a coffee when out shopping.

Ooh and me vampirequeen. I think that is one of the first places I will go when allowed.

Garden centres and DIY shops, DH and I are self isolating and he is doing all of the odd jobs that have been waiting for years.
I have always resisted his calls to sort out the garage and shed, ‘when are we going to ever use all of this stuff.’
Well. Now.
DD 2 is shopping for us , so we are still seeing her and DD1 and the GCs via FaceTime, they live in the West Country so we don’t see them Face to Face so often.
I think it’s dawning on DH that he might never see his Mum again.

The freedom to do as I choose.

Going in the car to somewhere different for a walk. Oh and the hairdresser!

Ditto to the garden centre.
Apart from that, seeing the family/grandchildren is all I’m really missing. Though although I’m def. not a person who goes shopping for fun, I do miss being able to go and buy something I need (or really want) rather than ordering online, having to wait for delivery and then ‘quarantining’ the parcel.
But God bless our postmen/delivery drivers!

Apart from family - oh I do miss shopping! Even food shopping, I just love to browse and see what takes my fancy. Have just made a list of food and drink that I need, as my son is going to the supermarket tomorrow for me - I'm really envious of him? Also miss being able to drive out to take the dog on one of the lovely Cheshire country walks in our area and calling into a pub for a well-earned drink at the end of the walk.

By the time this is a memory, we will have been so inculcated into some of the rules we now have to abide by, that they will be impossible to shrug off.
I, for one, will not miss hugging friends or shaking hands with strangers.
What I do miss is the freedom to go anywhere, the beach, a train ride, open gardens, sitting by the river without being moved on.
When these freedoms are available we don't necessarily avail ourselves of them, but we can if we want to...at any time.
It's the fact that we can't now do these things which makes them more desirable.

I'd love to walk up the village high st, buy flowers, pop in to the gift shop, chat to people I bump into.

Browsy shopping in general

Being able to drive my car. It’s been sat in its space for 4 weeks now. Worried about it doing that!

Not being able to go back to Wales to see my friends. I feel sorry especially for my friend she had a new grandson 7 months ago and now she can’t see him

You are right GabriellaG54 it's just missing the freedom to go anywhere and do all the usual things we enjoy. Not major things, a meal with friends, walking by the lake with the dogs etc.

For me, I think Lucca got it in one, variety.

Being able to make plans.

I'm missing "normality "...just being me and doing what I do....agree with Gabriella..re things may never really be as they were..hard to shrug off some the things we have to put into practice now...

Whatever we're missing it's going to feel strange being out and about again. I think I'm going to feel odd going into crowded places like shops etc. But I'll do it. We'll really need to get out there supporting businesses as they creep open. I've saved money over the lockdown as there's been only food and the usual direct debits to pay. I'm going to force myself to spend money (which goes against the grain!) as my tiny bit to help to get the economy going again.

Seeing my children and granddaughter. Nothing else matters.

I’m not exactly missing it but I’ll be really, really happy if the kissy, kissy, huggy, huggy culture has gone forever!

Oh how I hate being clutched by mere acquaintances.

I gave up going to church when they insisted on the kiss of peace. I went there to get in touch with God not other people........

Family and friends goes without saying.
The freedom to go where I want , when I want. To be spontaneous.

Going out for lunch or dinner. Garden centres. Freedom.

Fish and chip takeaway ?

Weve already lost our free speech and loosing our freedom takes the biscuit.
But it does keep us safe i suppose.
I want to see a light at the end of the tunnel TBH.

I am desperate to go to Hobbycraft. I don't even particularly like Hobbycraft - so I have no idea why!

Apart from that I miss days out in my convertible car - if I could I would go to the coast, to Wisley and to Slimbridge.
