I would love to spend an afternoon with Val McDermid. Her books are so well researched, constructed and unputdownable (?) that I always think she must be fascinating to chat to. I have seen some interviews and watched her on Christmas University Challenge. Dry wit and so clever. What about you?

I saw Val McDermid at the Harrogate Crime Writers Festival.
She was very good and an afternoon with her would I think be very interesting.

I would like to spend an afternoon with Michael Portillo as I watch all his railway programmes and he will have a go at anything, I think he’s really interesting. Of people I know I would really love an afternoon with my best friend. I am missing seeing her very much

I don't mind who it is, as long as they can fix my toilet seat.

Well if I didn't have DH to share afternoon delights it would have to be Jason Statham.

If I wanted to chat (and we could reincarnate her) then it would be Anne of Cleeves because I want to know if she was as clever as I think she was rather than the simple woman that history tends to mark her down as.

My son, always.

He's just about the only person with whom I can discuss science, history, world affairs, cookery, philosophy, writing and much more.
We've never, ever had a cross word and he's naturally witty, so keeps me smiling.
He's 40 now but every single day of his life has been a treasure to me.

Apart from family and friends obviously I would love to meet up with Grannsnetters. We could have a lovely afternoon tea and discuss things face to face.

Roger Federer, on the tennis court, with a tennis racquet.
Well I’d have the racquet. He could have the table tennis bat.

Charlie from Bargain Hunt taking round an antiques shop. Huge laugh and I would learn a lot.

Lucy Worseley, please! Apart from the fact that I'm part of her group of followers who have answered her Call to Arms to find her a coat for her next series, I'd absolutely love to visit the Royal palaces with her (and her pass) to see the art not on public display. And she's fun - in fact she's the nearest thing I have to a Girl Crushgrin

Bradford lass my son is exactly the same! We talk about everything. Aren’t we lucky!

The architect Robert Jamison. He seem such an interesting person, as well as being a superb architect. Looks good too

Yusuf Islam, previously known as Cat Stevens. Loved singing along to his music as a young hippie teenager, thought he was gorgeous with thoughtful lyrics which would change the world. Even had a poster of him in the nurses home room when I started nurse training as an 18 year old.
We could spend the afternoon singing over a guitar ....wistful thoughts !!

Chris Packham, Neil Oliver, Richard Dawkins & of course David Attenborough, they could all teach me so much.

I'd love to have an afternoon with someone who could make me laugh nonstop, as with all that's going on I have been a real old misery.

Undoubtably Mary Beard, preferably in Rome or Athens. She makes the ancient world come alive for me. And I would never have to say a word!

Dee1012 Sun 03-May-20 13:29:28

I'd opt for my son too...he's my proof of doing something right in my life!

Alishka Sun 03-May-20 19:33:04

annodomini oh yes, Mary Beard is a good choice, so for the UK, still Lucy, but for forrin parts it's got to be M.B.smile
