Which supermarket helps you?

Looking at another thread many were saying they had a problem with Sainsbury’s. We are long time Waitrose shoppers. Have they helped us. No not in the least. Without Sainsbury’s we would starve.

Do you think it varies area to area?

Which supermarket helps you?

Sainsbury's have been good to us as well. I usually manage to book a slot early Saturday morning for delivery on Monday or Tuesday.

JoyBloggs Tue 05-May-20 20:03:21

We get a delivery every week from Sainsbury's, excellent service, rarely anything out of stock.

As DH is on the shielded list we can usually get a Sainsbury’s slot once a week whenever we log in. Waitrose have been useless. I love their food and we have been loyal customers for over 20 years shopping there twice a week. They have been no help at all. Also I have to say all the delivery drivers who have come here have been so nice and kind.

Another Sainsbury's fan and regular shopper here!

Doodle I too am an ex-Waitrose shopper, after many years. I’m sick of them.
Morrison’s and Asda have been brilliant.

No response whatsoever from Sainsburys.
If they dont deliver here, please tell me!

I prefer Marks for fruit and veg and some other stuff and look forward to September when they join Ocado but I will still buy from Tesco. Sainsbury's is ok but I'm not keen on their shops. We all have our favourites as in all things.
Today, I read (if you can believe the DM) that Sainsbury's are trialling 11 out of 300 new products on the market.
They are worried about the market shares of Tesco and Asda and to that end collated a team to source new innovative products by up and coming producers.
One husband and wife company have been given an order to test the market.
They are snacks to have with beer.
Chorizo thins and some other snack pack (can't remember what)
They said a you normally find in pubs are crisps. I doubt that but Sainsos think they may be on to something which will boost profits and their market share. ?

M&S don’t do food deliveries do they Gabriella? DH and I aren’t allowed out at all so must rely on deliveries and out of the local Waitrose, Tesco, Lidle and Iceland, only Sainsbury’s will give us a delivery slot. Without the. We would have nothing.

GabriellaG54 Tue 05-May-20 20:26:07

Waitrose answered a question by replying that Tesco and Sainsos are much bigger companies and have larger resources behind them to fund more drivers and other staff.

GabriellaG54 Tue 05-May-20 20:31:55

M&S are starting deliveries of food via Ocado in September when the contract Ocado has with Waitrose ends.
They are purportedly expanding their range by thousands of lines which will, in Sept, be available...plus a website.
M&S are already offering deliveries of their current ranges in certain areas via Deliveroo.

GabriellaG54 Tue 05-May-20 20:32:59

This is what I have heard and read.

Doodle Tue 05-May-20 20:36:47

I like M&S food too so that will be interesting. I believe that at the moment they are only delivering hampers made up of set products which is not what we are after.

GabriellaG54 Tue 05-May-20 20:54:29

These slots are available right now in my area. Not all areas get inundated with home delivery orders

Doodle Tue 05-May-20 20:56:23

Who is that with Gabriella?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 05-May-20 20:56:32

M & S have food boxes available for delivery if you go on line - meat box, veg box, vegetarian box etc., as from October they are part of the Ocado'umbrella for deliveries.

GabriellaG54 Tue 05-May-20 20:58:33

No. M&S are offering a range of 130 food and household items via Deliveroo. The boxes are another thing altogether.

GabriellaG54 Tue 05-May-20 20:59:36

Doodle
Sainsbury's slots.

Doodle Tue 05-May-20 20:59:51

I’ve seen those grannygravy and they look nice but no good for us as DH has so many foods which he needs to avoid. I would love it if we could order what we want from M&S but I can’t complain about Sainsbury’s, they’ve helped us to keep going ?

Doodle Tue 05-May-20 21:01:00

Ah yes Gabriella. Sainsbury’s round here have got their act together too. We can log in anytime and get a slot as long as it’s only one a week, which is fair enough.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 05-May-20 21:03:15

Sorry GabrielkaG54 I had an email from M & S a couple of days ago promoting their food boxes for delivery, unfortunately I deleted the email.

MawB Tue 05-May-20 21:05:06

There’s a thread on it started earlier, here

Sainsbury’s said “Good news, we deliver to your area”. Then “We’re sorry your name is not on the Government’s Highly Vulnerable list ... but you can use Click and Collect”. DH, in whose name the card is, jolly well is on the Highly Vulnerable list! There appears to be no right of appeal.

Luckily, Tesco have found him on the list and we have managed to get a few slots. Unfortunately I’ve had to get up at silly times to get them and they’re released three weeks away so have to remember what nights to get up to get the timing reasonable.

GabriellaG54 Tue 05-May-20 21:07:27

Indeed Doodle and all major supermarkets have that advice on their websites.
