Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry start here in Brackley this morning but also looking grey .
Looking at a tweet yesterday , as regards to buses, it seems that they are in general going to scrap the 24/7 use of bus pass from 15th June , which will revert to in the week between 0900/0930 depending on which area /county you are under.
Also bus timetables may also revert to normal post lockdown times , the urgency to get the country back to normal , maybe wrong if a 2nd wave starts .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning mick /everyone.
Lovely bright morning in E Kent. It rained last night! For about two hours! Lovely, light penetrating rain.
mick, you are lucky to have had 24/7 bus passes ours only start at 0930 and, would you believe that bus for our nearest town goes at 0929. Many drivers refuse to let pensioners in, so if you have an appointment, you have to pay the full £350 for a single! Infuriating.
Moving everything out of the living room today, ready for our lovely painters. They have been really helpful, doing little things which were not part of their remit. In exchange, I have fed and watered them given them homemade marmalade, etc.
marydoll, gilly, Urmstone, and all others, thank you for your posts and I hope today is gentle to you.
Stay well, stay safe.

£3.50bus fare... ??

Grammaretto Sun 07-Jun-20 06:51:24

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Such a beautiful day yesterday - we are bound to pay for it today!
I am also sad that public transport is having a setback.
However there is a surge in the sale of electric bikes which are getting better and cheaper all the time.

Virtual church and then......well it's Sunday again.
Have a happy one if you can.

Good morning Mick and everyone. It's a gloomy start to the day and raining heavily in Cheshire and I've needed the lights on. Yesterday started much the same, but cleared into a bright sunny day, so fingers crossed it clears later.

I rely on my one outing of the day walking with neighbours, having shouty conversations through the woods and out into the fields for an hour.

EasyJet are sending emails and Mr Ryanair has invited me to 'dust off my passport!' If only! Don't think it's going to be any time soon, which is the only way I can see my DD and DGS.

Enjoy your day everyone, especially those able to go spend time with family and friends again.

NanKate Sun 07-Jun-20 07:16:12

Good morning Mick and All.

A cloudy and occasional sun here in South Bucks.

Yesterday we saw our DS and 2 DGSs for the first time in over 3 months. The joy of seeing their smiling faces and boisterous antics down at the scooter park was just fabulous. It was my DH’s 75th Birthday yesterday and it was his best present ever to be reunited. I realise that many others here still are waiting to see their family, just hang tight I hope it comes soon for you too.

Off for our first timed visit to our local NT Gardens. We are taking our own coffee and birthday cake.

Have a good day folks.

Good morning Mick and all. It’s a sunny/cloudy mixed start in Worcs. Do you have your face coverings Mick for travelling on the buses? Seems you are urged to wear them now.

In the night we heard sounds at the side of our house, and when DH looked at the security camera feed we could clearly see a fox, nosing around by the shed and bin, then it scaled the wooden fence and disappeared into our neighbour’s garden.

I cleaned the fridge and rearranged the freezer yesterday. Found a bag of sliced cooking apple tucked away so pulled it out. I’ll make pastry and turn it into a pie today. Also I remembered to get a chicken out to defrost (I forgot last weekend) so we’ll be feasting like kings by teatime ?

I hope everyone has a safe Sunday and those with worries and pain find them easing. ?

A grey Sunday morning in north Wales but I think it might brighten later as it did yesterday. I’m off on the shop trot this morning then some baking and slow cook the ham in cider for this evening.

Have a lovely birthday outing with your husband NanKate I bet that was the best present he’s ever had yesterday! Peaceful Sunday for all x

Urmstongran Sun 07-Jun-20 07:24:13

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga ?

Yesterday we had a stroll into Arroyo for a coffee. The playpark on the corner is still locked. Another two weeks until it opens I hear.

Whilst up there I picked up a copy of the free weekly newspaper with the local news. Seems that it’s not just the U.K. with high figures. Himself said that Italy have been under-reporting cases too it is thought.

grandMattie if I’d been giving my home made marmalade to any painters they’d have done a slap-dash rush job to clear off quicker!
?

No plans at all or today. Just the last 50 pages of my Hilary Mantel novel. No more slow cooker Sundays. Just once a week now on Tuesdays. Not as random as it sounds ... I had a telephone call yesterday from one of my friends and we have decided it’s time to fire up LWW again (that stands for Ladies Who Wine). It’s a group I started up 5y ago when I retired. I called it LWW as a joke - saying us pensioners couldn’t afford to be Ladies Who Lunch! I can’t wait to see my ladies again and a slow cooker dinner is perfect for when I get home ... ???

Hope Sunday is kind to us all. BlueSapphire I’ve been thinking of you and hope you join us again very soon - we’ve missed you! Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Puzzler61 Sun 07-Jun-20 07:25:33

Nankate your happiness at meeting up with your family is palpable! And made your DH’s birthday so special ?
Enjoy a walk and cake at NT. I looked at our nearest one and entrance tickets are required. They are all Sold Out for the next 2 weeks!

Good morning everyone from a bright dry Inverness, after downpours all day yesterday the rain has eventually stopped

I did manage a longish walk yesterday as I had nothing much else to do, it was cold and damp so when I got home mid afternoon I had a warm shower and put my pjs on ?

How lovely for you NanKate it sounds like a great weekend !

I hope everyone has the best day they can especially those with extra worries and struggles ?

Good morning all from a bright, but cool Glasgow, it's only 49 degrees.

A pleasant day was had yesterday. DD and future SIL arrived with some bedding plants and a few goodies, courtesy of the Range and B&M. Our tubs still have gaps in them.
The plants weren't up to the standard of our usual family run garden centre, but they are not delivering just now.
Fingers crossed that they don't fold, as the quality of their stuff is really good and they are a family firm.

DD also picked up some more solar lights for me, to much shaking of the head from DH! He thinks I'm obsessed with them, but they so look magical at night, shining from the trees.
I must admit to feeling a little envious of DD, being able to shop, albeit wearing masks and gloves. Simple pleasures. I would have never thought a walk around the Range would have been on my shielding release, bucket list. ?

A quiet day of watching online Mass, reading the papers and I plan make some Chelsea buns for DH.
If it brightens up, I may potter in the garden. My straggly leeks need transplanted. I don't know why I grow leeks, they are never a success, but God loves a trier! ? Any tips would be appreciated!

Before all that, I'm off for a sneaky walk across the field with DH for the papers. I haven't been able to manage a walk since last weekend, so I'm looking forward to it.

Grandmattie, if you could send your lovely painters here, when they are finished. Our living room needs new wallpaper and a new carpet. We have been putting it off for a year, because I have been so unwell and it's annoying me so much now.
You wouldn't really think it needs done, but I know it does! ?

Have a good day all, looking for a post from Bluesapphire, hoping all is well with mum and Manc baby and Dragonfly is feeling a bit better.
Take care all and Urmston, I can't wait for your lonnnng post, I'm living my life abroad through you! Anyway, your posts don't make mine look so bad!! wink

brook2704 Sun 07-Jun-20 07:36:29

urnstongran love that LWW ! ??? think there might need to be a UK branch ...

Marydoll Sun 07-Jun-20 07:38:09

Kate, I'm delighted to see you posting, we have missed you! Urmston, crossed posts! ?

Pittcity Sun 07-Jun-20 07:41:17

Good morning from a bright but overcast Colchester. Chilly as the heating has kicked in.
More rain forecast today. The garden is looking better for it.
Another same ol' day except for Sunday roast chicken later.

Urmstongran Sun 07-Jun-20 07:41:30

^it was cold and damp so when I got home mid afternoon I had a warm shower and put my pjs on^?

A great decision brook I’d have done the same!
?

12Michael Sun 07-Jun-20 07:41:50

Granmatttie , there is a way around it I have done it myself in the past if on a bus which starts say 10 minutes or so before 0930 , if you have a number of intermediate bus stops, say next stop is about 1/4 mile down the road or nearer just pay to that stop, and then use your bus pass.

Morning All

The sun was shining when I first got up. I feel sure it was. Now its raining again and decidedly chilly sitting here in my new thin summer dressing gown.

Yesterday I started a jigsaw my DD1 sent us at the beginning of the lock down. Its a wonderful picture but it took me a couple of hours to just fit six inches of the edge. Can’t even tell which corner is which! I’m not sure we’re going to finish it!

cornergran Sun 07-Jun-20 07:48:06

Morning Mick, morning All. A bright and less chilly start for our corner of Somerset, the very strong wind has dropped a bit too. Some garden rescuing needed otherwise just see what the day brings. Roast beef later. That sounds the best birthday weekend for your husband nankate, so far failing to get an NT slot around here, patience is needed I fear. Wishing you all the best day possible, be gentle with yourselves.

Urmstongran Sun 07-Jun-20 07:49:05

Marydoll Again ‼️

Good morning from a dull Manchester. Not much planned today other than a long walk. Gousto delivery so that takes care of 4 meals. Fed up of cooking every day, I'm definitely not a domestic goddess! Big brother was not overly impressed with the new arrival. They sent a video showing him holding the baby.. He said, I want him to play. Daddy said, well he's a bit tiny just yet. He said, put him back then ? had a peep at baby from a distance. Not the same as holding them but all are well and that's what matters. Lovely comments from my fellow GN's, thank you. Have a good day everyone. (((hugs))) for those who need one, flowers for those with extra cares and worries. Think we all have days that seem filled with them.

NfkDumpling Sun 07-Jun-20 07:54:32

Puzzler - the car park tickets for our local NT pile are released on a Friday. Yours may well be the same, they tend to stick to the same format. Ours is also increasing the number of places as its so popular and people are being sensible and spreading out. It’s just the park at the moment but hopefully the gardens will be open again soon. Also, if its not too far to walk or bike there’s no restriction on entry.

dragonfly46 Sun 07-Jun-20 07:57:33

Good morning from chilly Leicestershire.

What a lovely day you had NanKate.

I too got soaked on my walk yesterday so got straight into a hot bath!

Please Urmston send us some sun. Would love to feel it’s warmth and would lighten the mood. LWW what an excellent idea.

Not much planned apart from last minute touches to the Ocado delivery.

Scentia Sun 07-Jun-20 07:59:22

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Looks a little grey out there today.
I am struggling to walk today after my hike yesterday. We did 12 miles up hill and down dale! My seemingly healed Plantar Faciitus has returned with a vengeance. Too much for me I think, I do this all the time?. I will go out on the bike today with the pooch to save my poorly foot. Other than that I am having a day of rest.
DD had a scan yesterday and she sent me a picture of her little bean? We have ordered a blood test kit from USA to get the gender early, we are so impatient!!
I suppose I will have to go down to the COOP to do a shop as we don’t have much food, well we have lots of food, just nothing we fancy eating!!
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.xx

grandMattie Sun 07-Jun-20 08:15:37

FYI, my marmalade famous locally. I also have had calls and letters from as far afield as the Netherlands, Germany and Boston, Mass., bewailing the fact that I no longer sell it in our church. ? I stopped when we moved house. Kitchen too small and no incentive to carry on. Too old to make the 800 or so post p.a.
mick, thanks for advice. One bus an hour stops near us, from the “terminus”, With the other two (we are extremely well served) , the next stop is about 2 miles away.
