I agree with Rowling people who are born as women should have intimate spaces like lavatories and hospital rooms reserved for the and freed of physiological men.

'Born as women' and 'physiologically' are unfortunately blunt criteria but they are the best we have. Smaller and less muscular people must be protected from potential predators and bullies.

Good for JKR I say, and as for the young actors so eager to put their views ( even when not needed) I think the problem is these days, that if you are a ‘celeb’ and you don’t immediately come out with something, social media howls with rage that you haven’t commented, therefore you must be a racist/ homophobe/ trans-hater. It’s a stupid and very unpleasant aspect of forums and causes real harm to people and their careers.

suziewoozie , exactly. If any man wants to take hormones and modify his body then that is fine by me. But biologically they are still male, and always will be. I have no objection to saying trans-woman but not woman to describe them. Furthermore I , along with many other biological women ( or women ) have been sexually assaulted. I do not want to be in a safe space. e.g changing room etc and not know if the person trying on clothes next to me is biologically a male. And , sorry to bang on about my previous employment again , but I did have many clients who were sex offenders and honestly they were without doubt the most devious, conniving people I had ever met. Quite capable of exploiting any situation. For my safety I wasn't allowed to be alone with some of them when I interviewed them.So why ever would I want to undress in front of them?
And believe me , I think some of them would be quite capable of saying they were trans to get into a changing room.
If we all had lockable, individual, completely enclosed changing rooms ,fine . But that is not going to happen

For what it's worth, I think she's right. Cutting off the genitals and wearing womens clothing does not turn a man into a woman. You remain biologically the gender you are born.

She has fought for womens rights all her life, I am so grateful she spoke up, in the same way I was grateful for martina navratilovas contribution to the debate, of course she knew what would happen and she did it anyway, she is very brave.
