Good Morning Everyone,
It was dry with some blue sky earlier, but now its turning grey as well.
Today , small shop in local supermarket .
Some news as regards to the Anchor -Hanover home I live in the communal lounge as reopened with new furniture but with 2m restrictions, its been measured up, so a maximum of 10 people can sit in there, any chair movement and it will close again .
Also my chiropodist is paying me a visit at end of month , whether this comes under the social bubble situ makes me wonder.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning from the Shropshire borders where we have another day of storms forecast.

Absolute saga with the car yesterday.Took it to the garage and DD drove over to take me home.Told them I needed the car back as we have an appointment today.DD stayed to take me back to collect the car.Car still not back?after many phone calls they have promised to get it back to us by 10 so we will have just enough time to get to our appointment.Hope they don’t let us down.We have been buying cars from this garage for 20 years for us and both daughters and used them for all servicing etc Don’t think we will be using them again.Rant over?

On grandmafrench’s advice,I braved the supermarket yesterday for the first time since March.Felt quite sick when I first went in but it wasn’t as bad as I had thought just one or two not obeying the rules.Glad I went, won’t be going often but good to have the option now.

grandMattie and Mary,I am the opposite?DH decided to change his study round a couple of weeks ago and I was the one saying I didn’t think it would look great. He went ahead anyway and it actually looks better than it did!

Enough from me for now!Have a good day everyone.

Grandmafrench Wed 17-Jun-20 08:13:49

Good Morning everyone! Bonjour also - or perhaps I should say ‘Gluten’ Morgen ! Hollysteers how funny was that! Do hope that you are feeling a bit better today? You’re definitely not a damp squib and we’re not all ‘sensible and busy’.

We’re ALL winging it. We worry, we wobble and sometimes we whine but we do support each other on this thread, so we’re then able to pull up our collective socks and get back in the game. Please feel better, get stronger and be good to yourself; but when you can’t, remember to ask for help - on here.

Speaking of help. Yes, I helped gilly. You were all so kind to me with your remarks, but I’m not a star. She was able to do so much but I could tell that she was running on empty. And why not after all she’s gone through? I gave her some info, some ‘ammo’ and I think, the resolve so she stopped panicking long enough to batter the Pensions Idiots into a corner. Well done, gilly. Sadly sometimes you just have to keep on keeping on until you get the result you deserve!

Daisyboots - you’re really so brave and uncomplaining. I too love Portugal. The people are so kind and welcoming (and small!!!) but the language totally defeats me.

All too easy to damage the car, Georgesgran. Never mind, try to look on the bright side. If that’s it - your accident - that’s o.k. Nobody’s hurt and you and your car are safe. That’s the most important thing - don’t beat yourself up over it.

Mary when your DH is excited at the prospect of driving you to hospital for treatment next week ..... well, entertainment-wise you just know he can’t get more desperate ! grin

Know how you feel about people not thinking about keeping you safe, kitty. Yesterday a friend asked us again if we’d like to go out to eat in a restaurant - he was making the same noises about a fortnight ago. I responded by mail saying that we weren’t read to mix with all and sundry yet. His response? “You can’t live forever. But I suppose you’ll just be guided by your instincts!” ? What a nerve!!! With no idea of our health concerns and what I feel is his rather reckless attitude and determination towards getting back to “normal”, I”ll make my own decisions, thanks. Silly old me obviously had no idea that socialising is now obligatory!

Another hot and windy day. I must get the lawn sprinklers going and cover myself in Jungle insect repellent before going out to treat a greenfly infestation. Then more laundry ........and more ironing after an hour on the line.

Have a super day, folks. Even if there’s rain. Yesterday’s news about the cheap treatment available for fighting some of the effects of Covid should all lift our spirits a little. We’ll get there. Until we do, keep safe Good Morningers and keep smiling.

Hugs from French France ????

Good Morning from another dreech Fife. It appears lifeless outside in so many ways. Oh to see the sun again. Will be doing my usual exercise around the inside of the house. Keeps my bones well-oiled wink. I must have the most boring post on the GM thread but that's how it is just now sad. Hopefully some sunlight will appear soon in more ways than one. Hoping you all have a good day .SorryGilly I missed your recent news but if it's good news so pleased for you.

cornergran Wed 17-Jun-20 08:15:08

Morning Mick, morning All. Grey cloud over our corner of Somerset. The storms are strange, a serious downpour four miles from us yesterday, not a drop here. Good to see you jmp1, Your neighbours will be pleased about the baking. Bit flat here, Fibro flare up restricting me a bit, just one of those things, it will pass. Some faffing about today, a short walk if the storms allow. Be gentle with yourselves everyone.

Urmstongran Wed 17-Jun-20 08:16:10

It’s always lovely to welcome newbies. Hi jmb1 ?
You forgot to tell us the value of your home ...
??
Only joking!

ninathenana Wed 17-Jun-20 08:20:36

Morning all.
I haven't posted on this thread for a while as I've been getting up later. Getting up early just makes the day longer and not going out means I have no news.
I hope you're all ok. Have a good day, stay safe.

Grandmabatty Wed 17-Jun-20 08:22:55

Good morning from Polmont in Central Scotland. It's a very fashionable grey outside and really oppressive. It's been like this for a few days now and is so depressing. I keep thinking it's going to pour so no point in watering the flowers but no rain so far. This morning I'm making my second batch of apricot jam then meeting up with my daughter, grandson, and my son, who I haven't seen for five months, at a park local to him. We are taking a socially distant picnic. I hope the rain holds off. Everyone have a good day x

Grandmafrench Wed 17-Jun-20 08:27:29

Oh Grandmabatty - ignore the fashionable grey. How I envy you, a picnic with your family! Enjoy it all...the perfect antidote to feeling a bit depressed, I think. X

Grandmabatty Wed 17-Jun-20 08:33:36

Thank you Grandma French. I haven't quite worked out how to tag people yet! I am really looking forward to seeing them all. We are a close family and usually meet up often. My son lives alone and has been working from home so he's definitely stir crazy!

Sar53 Wed 17-Jun-20 08:37:30

Good morning everyone from a brightish Essex by the sea. I think rain is forecast for later.
DH has to go to a meeting in Luton today. As he is retiring on the 30th June he needs to hand over a large job he has been responsible for to a colleague. He has to go suited and booted !! He mentioned that the last time he wore a suit was back in March. These days he wears shorts all the time.
I have a tea loaf cooking and I have admin to sort out this morning.
Have a lovely day and stay safe xx

Greyduster Wed 17-Jun-20 08:37:55

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Good to see your lounge is open again Mick - hope everyone toes the line! Grey and dreary in South Yorkshire. I had just settled myself outside with a G&T last night and we had a thunderstorm that seemed to come out of nowhere. It didn’t last long but it was too wet to be out after that. Nothing planned for today but a birthday card to buy for my neighbour’s baby.
Welcome Jmb1! Have a good day folks.

Kate54 Wed 17-Jun-20 08:45:44

Morning from S. Lincs. Sunny at the moment and needs to stay that way as having a garden tea and cake get together with two friends this afternoon. Before then, though, the joys of the sixth -monthly care review for my severely disabled son - by conference call, not Zoom,as his residential home has a poor wi fi signal. Poor lots of other things too so a lot of people involved today. Hopefully things will improve for him.
Re. Studies and other personal space decor choices, in our house we always end up with boring neutral colours. BUT I have just acquired £38 worth of what I would call buttery yellow paint but is actually called ‘Frites’. Paint names are hilarious. And since when did paint get so expensive? It’s not Farrow and Ball.
So, yellow for MY study. The tin sits there along with my tax return, both waiting to be done.
Hate painting by the way so anyone’s guess as to when!

grannysyb Wed 17-Jun-20 08:50:16

Grey here, forecast is for rain later. Got to make soup and tidy up as my cleaner comes today. Then seeing a friend for coffee later in her garden. I have a Zoom meeting this evening with my book group, just for a chat. The friend (S) who has organised it is feeling very low as one of our number died recently and S was very close to her. We will be raising our glasses to the departed.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Newquay Wed 17-Jun-20 08:58:42

Morning all from a lurker! Welcome to newbies-it’s a lovely thread; great to hear of folks from all over the place.
Here in Staffs we had a spectacular storm last night til early hours.
Supposed to be walking to visit a friend-and her new fence-this morning. She opens side gate and we sit down the garden as she does when she comes to us.
We visited other friends yesterday for car port coffee-first time we’ve had a drink anywhere. She’s a retired micro biologist so we felt safe!
This morning a wide load will be making its slow progress not far from us so will go and watch-such excitement!

Urmstongran Wed 17-Jun-20 09:07:41

Morning Newquay! ?
I think you’re more of a ‘pop in and out’ type of poster rather than a lurker.

You sound a bit down this morning ninathenana. I hope you’re okay. With the fine weather coming I daresay your husband will be up and out to do his gardening bookings and you’ll soon be his chauffeur again so in the meantime, make the most of your lie-ins!
?

gillybob Wed 17-Jun-20 09:08:36

Good morning from the NE coast where we have yet another dark, grey, damp and gloomy day .....and every other miserable adjective you can think of .

Very little sleep due to the fog horn competing with various ships lying off in the thick fog . Not to mention DH getting up and down all night . I could go back to bed right now .

I had little Evie Buttons yesterday and we went shopping for her much needed new shoes . We had an appointment at Clarks (brilliant idea) so no queuing . Very good system in place too. She had gone up a whole size and chose some crazy yellow and white spotty shoes . My DD did say “she could have anyones she wanted” grin (see photo)

GrandmaFrench is being very kind and modest about the help she offered me . It was because of her that I had the confidence to “throw it all at them” and boy did I throw it . They would have either felt very ashamed, embarrassed or else broke down in tears when they read my appeal . I wouldn’t have had the confidence or the stamina to keep going had it not been for her advice and encouragement. So she deserves all the praise !

Oh the joys of being an employer never cease . I’m sure there’ll be something else lurking ready to pounce .
Speaking of being an employer I a have another conference call at lunch time so hope and pray it turns into some work at last . Then I have my dads big shop and a few other errand to run for him .

Hope everyone has as good a Wednesday as possible and A warm welcome to this lovely Good Morning thread Jmpl

I’ll have a catch up with the thread later. Love Gillybob x

Puzzler61 Wed 17-Jun-20 09:38:08

gilly
What a happy occasion for you yesterday going on a shoe shopping trip with little Evie?
Those shoes are fabulous! What a stylish lil lady she will be.

Nannytopsy Wed 17-Jun-20 09:38:58

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Welcome jmp1 and other new posters. I don’t mention names in case I offend someone who has been here for ages! blush
Gillybob I just love those shoes. I sent the image to DiL but was rebuffed. I am sure DGD would have loved them too.
We got the sanding and washing down on the front door sorted yesterday so today I can start with the paintbrush. There is an open porch over the doorway and the ceiling inside looked awful. I wasn’t looking forward to painting it but when washed, it was like new. Success!
I hope those who are lonely and bored find something to bring them happiness today.

Puzzler61 Wed 17-Jun-20 09:39:05

And “Hi, Welcome” to Jmpl ?

Gelisajams Wed 17-Jun-20 09:40:13

Good morning from a warm humid Morecambe Bay from where I have just returned from my morning walk. We haven’t done it for a couple of weeks for various reasons, so it felt good to do it again. Once the many local caravan parks reopen maybe it will be much more crowded and feel less safe.
We were discussing the probability of getting our annual visit to Shetland in this year. We are not terribly hopeful as the friends we stay with are quite elderly and we would hate to pick up anything nasty en route to inadvertently pass on. We couldn’t go last year as Mr G was recovering from the complications following his surgery last year and could hardly walk. It’s so good to see him regularly doing 5 mile runs again. Take care and stay safe everyone. ?

gillgran Wed 17-Jun-20 09:41:40

Good Morning to you all from Cambs., It's overcast here, but still very hot & humid, after another stuffy night, (not good for sleeping). I thought it would be a bit fresher after we had the tail-end of a thunder storm last evening, but no.sad.

Love the new cute shoes Gillybob, adorable at that age aren't they.sunshine.

Welcome jmpl, this is such a friendly thread, I feel 'comfortable' on here, everyone is kind & friendly.

I would like to thank you all for that, although I think I am older than most, I feel 'at ease'. flowers

Take Care Folks.

Hymnbook Wed 17-Jun-20 09:49:27

Morning everyone l hope you are all keeping well. What lovely shoes your granddaughter chose. I wouldn't mind a pair like that. It's a bit dull here in Sherwood Nottingham. In the complex where l live everything is still out of bounds except the refuse room and laundry. The hairdressing salon is hoping to open sometime in July. It will be lovely when all the community rooms are open again and we can all come together for meals activities etc. Hope today is a good day for you all.
