About the same here Mike, one friend has had to take on 3 extra staff to cope with it. One person at the top of the stairs to monitor people going to the toilets, one at the bottom who also cleans the toilets after every use. One person on the front entrance monitoring numbers coming in and ensuring hands are cleaned.
No visitors books here, lots of Micky and Minnies I assumehmm.

I don't think I'll be bothering !

BlueSky Fri 26-Jun-20 13:04:30

Let's hope people will go after all this! I'm another one not bothered, I wasn't keen before let alone now!

I hope all your hard work pays off Michael and that your business will soon be back on its feet. It must be a worrying time for you; good luck.

I agree with Smileless2012 good luck getting things going again.

My brother owns a small restaurant and I've been very worried about his future; so I implore those of you who breezily say there's no way you're going to visit restaurants, to think again.

Squiffy Fri 26-Jun-20 13:42:05

What a nightmare, especially for the smaller, independent businesses. Good luck to all of you.

Good luck, Michael12; I hope your re-opening will be a success and that all will go well.

I agree with humpty, above. Let's all of us who are now free to go out try and make good use of our local pubs and restaurants. Use them or lose them - they're a great social facility and far too many are already gone forever.

I'm pleased to say a friend and I have booked a table for lunch at my local on 4 July. (We had my OH's wake in there on what turned out to be the last day before the lockdown and the landlords were so kind, considerate and thoughtful on what must have been a very stressful afternoon for them. Having been one of the last to leave before house arrest began, I promised to be one of the first back in when they opened again. We're lucky to still have a friendly, welcoming 'local' and I'm delighted to see it coming back to life.)

"Now have you forgotten anything!!!!!" Did you order the beer?

V3ra Sun 28-Jun-20 23:50:43

PPE for the staff?
Just a thought, not sure what the requirements are for your business.

My local authority have supplied me with masks, visors, gloves and aprons for my childminding business.

Good luck with the reopening ???

"Have we forgotten anything?"

Yes Mick, don't forget to set your alarm so you're not late each day opening the Good Morning thread ! grin

V3ra Sun 28-Jun-20 23:55:02

Oh and just a warning: our 40-odd page government guidance document has been updated at least weekly since March ?

Namsnanny Sun 28-Jun-20 23:59:59

Best of luck to you 12Michael very difficult times.

Please please try to support local cafes and restaurants. Not necessarily the big chains which have lots of money behind them but the small places run by local people.
We've saved more than usual due to lack of opportunity to spend money so we're planning to do as much as possible to try to keep the local economy going and to save jobs and livelihoods.

Marydoll Mon 29-Jun-20 08:31:05

Mick, I didn't realise you had your own business!?
How do you fit everything in with the GM thread and those trips to the flea market? ?

On a more serious note, we too are going to try and support local businesses and traders.
We are behind England with the opening of shops, but DD has discovered that the local fruit and veg man has re-opended his stall, so she has been picking up our shopping there.

The bars and restaurants are buzzing here in Spain since the very strict lockdown! Their checklist is almost the same but we customers don’t have to register at the door to buy drinks and waiters have always come out to take your order at the table which is nicer anyway - all you have to do is find an empty one!

Some of our local restaurants here in France began doing a take away service during the lockdown several days a week. Now they are open again our local favourite place is continuing with the take aways till at least the end of the summer. They said they are aware that some people are not comfortable yet with eating out. Their prices are very reasonable and the food is proper restaurant food as opposed to burgers!
We have been doing our best to support local places retain their businesses during this time by having the take aways etc.
Of course it is easier here for the places to have distancing as most have large outside spaces.

Michael.....it all sounds very enticing! ?
