Good Morning Everyone,
Another grey but dry start here in Brackley this morning, I had a pm from Ginny42 who will absent for awhile as she is involved with a project to do with school books .
Today , I will catch the bus to Buckingham, go for a meander around the town, and head to the cafe I frequent, and have coffee and something to eat , before returning home on the bus later .
My haircut appointment will on late Saturday afternoon but af ew days do not matter .
Take Care ,
Mick

Morning Mick from sunny Espana?and Buenas Dias to all who follow!

Did try and post yesterday but didn’t go through til late so thanks to all who were looking out for the intrepid traveller! So pleasant going through the airport when it has only 2 planes an hour although wearing a mask ? is strange!

Temperature taken on entry at Malaga and Bobs your uncle! Masks compulsory if you can’t do 1.5m distancing and in shops and it was lovely to eat out after so long!

Mi Casa is all prepped now for the next few months of doing nothing much at all except eating and drinking although DH is dragging me out this morning for a constitutional before the chamberpot ☕️

Will pop back later and catch up with all your bizzyness - safe safe peeps x

Good morning from the NE coast Mick and all others to follow. We have a dry start to Tuesday .

An early start for me after an almost sleepless night, been pottering around waiting for Mick to open the curtains .

Childcare for little Evie today as DD is at work .

Thinking of all those feeling poorly or under the weather .

Have as good a Tuesday as possible .

Love Gillybob x

Good morning Mick and all his followers. You sound back to normal with your days Mick. Glad you arrived safely Pantglas - enjoy your stay.
DD & SiL arrive this morning- just for 24 hours, to leave the dog but very exciting!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Puzzler61 Tue 07-Jul-20 06:45:45

Good morning Mick, and Ola Pants.
You’re now living your summer life Pants and I’m glad the airport and flight was okay.
You and Mick will enjoy your Dining out experiences (not together of course) but it’s fantastic to hear that folks are eating out again and taking small steps to live a more normal life that we’re used to.
I may venture to a couple of shops today but to be honest I don’t yearn to, having become a 1st class internet shopper over past weeks. I enjoy boxes being brought to my door. I think I’ve become very lazy and the weighing scales near testament to that. Eek!
I’ll try to fit in a long walk later.

Take care everyone, and special thoughts for all who are going through difficulties with health problems, not sleeping well, etc.

Puzzler61 Tue 07-Jul-20 06:47:15

*bear - not near. I corrected it once and the spellchecker still changed it ?

Beechnut Tue 07-Jul-20 06:56:55

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it is sunny.

Two planes an hour! That’s a difference Pant and I’m glad you’ve arrived safely and hope your DH was comfy in the plane seat with his new hip. Enjoy your walk around the district.

I must say it’s quite nice to be able to see Mick posting of his weekly travels once again.

A day in the house for me today and I’ve just noticed my tall Crocosmia are starting to open their flower buds.

Have a lovely day whatever you do. We can do this slowly and safely ?

Scentia Tue 07-Jul-20 06:58:53

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. I was excited when I awoke to glaring sunshine and had my plans in place for a ‘shorts’ day. Looked at the weather on my phone and it is saying in two hours the heavens will open. I will put my shorts back away!!
A day (or half a day!) at the factory today. I will then call my DD to make sure she is feeling ok, she is very good at saying ‘I’m fine’ but if I speak to her Mummy can tell if she is fine or not. She really doesn’t seem shocked she lost the baby at the weekend and has always said, “this one feels different mum” so I think she sort of expected it in a way. She had to have a blood transfusion though so she was very poorly but will still tell everyone not to make a fuss. I remember when she was 18 she ignored her appendicitis for 5 days and very nearly died. That is why I have to keep a check on her.
I am very envious of our GN friends in the sun at the moment so I had my DH book us a weekend away to Whitby (my favourite place in the world) the sun always shines when you are in your happy place.☀️☀️☀️
Well folks, you all take care now and have a really good day, look for something positive in every thing you do.xx

Puzzler61 Tue 07-Jul-20 07:15:56

I’m very sorry for your DD’s loss Scentia , even at an early stage in pregnancy it’s a sad thing to happen. I know you will give her the loving care she needs right now being the exceptional mum You are.
A weekend in Whitby sounds like a nice treat to look forward to. ?

Urmstongran Tue 07-Jul-20 07:20:26

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga ?

Himself is out on his constitutional. I’ve stripped the beds of sheets and pillowcases (no duvets for a few weeks!) and put a hot wash on.

Beef casserole to prep in the slow cooker later as it’s Tuesday and my LWW afternoon! Always easio for when I get home and a plate of dinner for my lovely neighbour too. She is struggling in this heat now. Says she feels it’s too hot for walking and knows it will be like this until the end of September. At 85y she feels that for her circumstances she’s ‘had the best of it all now’ and has decided to put her little apartment up for sale. She plans to see an estate agent soon.

I don’t blame her. I think she’s lonely. LWW once a week isn’t enough. She gets to meet up with other owners on our lovely little landing - one couple from Bradford and another from Keighley - but, like us, they only pop over now and again for a few weeks at a time. In between visitors it’s hard for her. She is a lovely lady but not a ‘mixer’ so for the last 15y she’s found it hard.

Ooh, what to wear today? A bit more than my swimsuit anyway!

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing.

Scentia ?

Nannytopsy Tue 07-Jul-20 07:29:21

Sorry to hear your news Scentia and best wishes.
Our DD will be in Whitby this week too, in their camper van.
Hope you get good weather.

brook2704 Tue 07-Jul-20 07:44:15

Good morning everyone and hola buenos días to urms and pantglas in sunny Spain ! Oh how I wish I was there ..... actually it is dry this morning and not much rain forecast so things definitely perking up.
Thanks for the update on Ginny, mick and enjoy your day with little Evie gillybob
Another day pottering around, I’m tempted to pop into town as TKMaxx has just opened and I do love their handbags. Also a few pavement cafes should be open now but with the typical Scottish weather I’m not sure I’d risk it today ... ?
Hope everyone has the best day they can, special thoughts for scentia and any other GNs with troubles and worries, take care everyone?

kittylester Tue 07-Jul-20 07:45:40

Morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

I have a few phone calls to do then my silver needs cleaning. It seemed like a good idea when I started buying small pieces of silver (mostly spoons etc) - it's not such a good idea when they need cleaning!

Enjoy your days everyone.

cornergran Tue 07-Jul-20 07:47:30

Morning Mick, morning All. A bright start to our corner of Somerset, breezy rather than a howling gale. Dust removal here this morning then general faffing.

Good to know you arrived safely pantglas.

Scentia flowers

Be gentle with yourselves everyone, stay safe and well.

Sar53 Tue 07-Jul-20 07:52:13

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea . I'm not sure it will last. The app on my phone says grey and cloudy later.
Scentia I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter ?.
We have a couple of cheques to pay in at the bank and a parcel to pick up from M&S. This will only be the second time I've ventured into town since March, the first was on Saturday, and I can't say I enjoyed the experience at all.
I started a new jigsaw yesterday and I have book to finish.
Have a lovely day and stay safe everyone xx

Susan56 Tue 07-Jul-20 07:55:31

Good morning from a very dull Shropshire.

So sorry for your daughters loss Scentia?

We are heading over to Staffordshire today to visit DD2.We were hoping to take DGS to the ice cream farm but the weather isn’t looking very promising as Scentia says.

Thank you for updating us on Ginny,Mick.

Hope Mary,Cherry and harri are feeling better today and anyone else struggling with illness and worries?

Have a good day all.

Gelisajams Tue 07-Jul-20 08:01:40

Good morning from a cloudy Morecambe Bay.
? Scentia
Feeling tired today after yesterday’s exertions. Got home and DS2, who I had been with earlier phoned to say there has been an outbreak of the virus at his warehouse. Not much I can say or do but I’m quite anxious for him.
Not much planned today apart from a lazy day to recover and as it’s set to rain again shortly it’s a good excuse not to garden.
I’m trialing some poppies for Gardening Which. I thought they were doing well but now they are flowering I realise they are not the trial plants but some other poppy seeds I planted a couple of years ago which didn’t come up. Plants! They definitely have a mind of their own. Stay safe and take care?

harrigran Tue 07-Jul-20 08:02:38

Good morning from a cloudy NE.
My hairdresser is coming this morning, I think it will take her longer to get this mop into shape.
Spoke to the family last night and they were asking about visiting, I am wary as teenage GD is mixing with her friends on a weekend.
DH has just informed me that there are two new cases of the virus in town, looks as if it is taking off again.
Restless night with the pain and DH said I was having nightmares, thrashing about and shouting.
Sad news Scentia flowers

Urmstongran Tue 07-Jul-20 08:02:53

then my silver needs cleaning sounded like a sentence from ‘Downtown Abbey’ kitty! Love it. I don’t know anyone who has silver to clean. Right posh some folks on here!

GrannySomerset Tue 07-Jul-20 08:04:38

After the excitement of yesterday’s haircut today promises domestic tasks - bed changing and laundry and a basket full or ironing. Disappointed not to feel more optimistic but I don’t feel that life will be anything like normal for many months for the oldest generation, but am anxious that the young get back on track soon.

NanKate Tue 07-Jul-20 08:06:07

Good morning Mick and All.

Lovely sunny day in South Bucks.

Had my hair done yesterday under very strict conditions. They took my temperature, the chair was all sprayed down before I sat down. My hairdresser had a visor on. Everyone was expected to wear masks. All very professional. ?

Now Kitty before you start the silver polishing have you finished the ironing ? It’s all go at your house.

NanKate Tue 07-Jul-20 08:08:20

I have a lovely little silver plated elephant and when my youngest grandson comes he polishes it for me for a £1.00 !

Gingster Tue 07-Jul-20 08:10:10

Good
morning all from sunny Suffolk ?. Always wake up to the sun, but it changes as the day wears on. At least that strong wind has died down and it’s very calm. Huge black clouds arrived yesterday. We sat In the garden having a well deserved cuppa, after hedge removing, and watched the clouds and rain coming towards us. It rained for 5 minutes and then carried on out to sea, and then turned in to a lovely evening. We do need some rain !

Glad you arrived safely in sunny Spain, Pantglas. How was the plane ? Was it full? Enjoy the stay you have been longing for ☺️.

So sorry to hear your news Scentia. Your daughter’s instincts were right. Hope she recovers soon. ?. Lovely for you to have Whitby to look forward to.

Sad for your neighbour Urmstongran to sell up. I don’t blame her, will she come back to the UK? Does she have family here? Hope she finds her happy place. I too have just read Blood Orange and enjoyed it. Reading Eyes of Darkness by Dean Koontz. It’s not great but it apparently predicted the virus and mentioned Wuhan and 2020. It was written in1981.

We took out three large hedge bushes yesterday. One fuschia, another prickly one and another one (not good with names). They were growing outside the bathroom window and cutting out some light. They were also quite dead underneath. It was hard work with DH digging up roots. Once he get going, he won’t stop, but I was worried he’d done too much after his mini stroke a couple of months back. He was very pleased with himself though. ?

Hope Marydoll had some help from the medics yesterday and she had a better nights sleep. ?
Harrigran I do hope your painful hands have eased ?

Have a pleasant day all and wear your ? ?

Marydoll Tue 07-Jul-20 08:14:27

Good morning all from a dreich and miserable Glasgow a day for the house today and a warm welcome to all the newcomers. There did seem to be a few yesterday.
Glad to hear you are becoming more mobile, Mick, just be careful.
Looking at the reckless ignoring of social distancing by some people, I worry about another wave. We have had no deaths in Scotland for 48 hours, so a ray of hope here.

Good luck Ginny, with your project, sounds just like my cup of tea from your description.
Pants, so glad you arrived safely. I'm sorry to hear about your DD Scentia. Despite what she has said, a girl needs her mum at a time like this. She will be exhausted, both physically and emotionally.

Yesterday, I did eventually receive a return phone call from the hospital.
My side effects included, dreadful stomach cramps, an all over (driving me to distraction) itch and a hacking cough. ☹️ The cough is a rarer side effect.
The hacking cough, of course set Covid alarm bells ringing, especially, as I'm shielding due to my lung conditions.
Eventually after insisting, I have been nowhere near anyone for 16 weeks, do not have a temperature and have not lost my sense of taste and smell, it was decided it must be the medication and I do not have Covid.
Unfortunately the medication will be in my system for another two weeks and it usually takes about six weeks for my body to get used a new drug, so the next dose will be postponed for a week to give me a bit of respite.
All I can do is take antihistamines and see my GP if things get worse.

Yesterday I did manage to clean the cooker, with some interference from DH, when he returned from the golf. That man is a pest!
The rest of the day, I pottered about in the garden, it's very therapeutic and solitary, which I like.
The constant rain has caused everything to sprout, especially my herbs which are some height! A job for DH is to trim the trees at the bottom of the garden yet again, as, they are growing at a phenomenal rate.

Our plan is to move DGD's Wendy house in among the trees and make her a den, which will then make room for my new vegetable raised beds. She so loves a den. ?? However, when she went exploring there recently, she discovered the the statues of the scantily clad, Roman ladies. To say she was horrified, ? is an understatement! ?
Hopefully, when shielding (I hope) is over at the end of the month, she will be down here to play. I can't wait!

Thinking of Bluesapphire and all who need our love and support. Take care when you are out and about, everyone. Wishing you the best day you can everyone.

PS. DH is planning to make beer today. The last time he made beer was over thirty years ago, when NASA offered to use it for rocket fuel, it was mind blowing! ?
Watch this space! wink

Brunette10 Tue 07-Jul-20 08:23:33

Good Morning from a fair Fife, as long as the rain keeps off. Marydoll good to know you have been updated with everything from Medics, just keep doing what you are supposed to do and hopefully all will just settle down in time. Your enthusiasm for everything else is to be commended. Welcome all the newbies have noticed quite a few. Plan to go out for short time today along the coast for a little run, needing also to do some shopping. Hoping everyone is taking good care of themselves. Like others a little fearful of the return of COVID so def do not want that. Take care everyone and enjoy your day.
