Susan Maugham Bobby's Girl. I can remember going to the record dept at the Co Op on a Saturday morning straight after getting my pocket money.

Everlasting Love by The Love Affair which I shared with my twin sister as we didn't have much pocket money, probably from the Co-Op. We would have been about 14. They were also the first group we went to see at the Danse de Palais (known as the 'Pally') in Nottingham which is no more.

Oh stop it !

I love 2,4,6,8 Motorway too Scentia smile

In fact I pretty much love everything from between the late 60's and the early 80's .

Livin' Doll--Cliff Richards. I still have it somewhere and its middle is green.

EllanVannin Thu 16-Jul-20 12:14:29

If I remember rightly it was 6/9p.

EllanVannin Thu 16-Jul-20 12:17:52

Then it went on to Lonnie Donegan, which mum liked as well grin

I got a summer job in the Knorr factory and bought a record player from Comet with my wages, but had nothing to play on it! grin.

I loved all those others mentioned. Happy days indeed.

Kate1949 Thu 16-Jul-20 12:22:05

Although I became a mad Beatles fan, the first record I bought was Just One Look by The Hollies. I still love it now.

3nanny6 Thu 16-Jul-20 12:22:48

Mine was -Leader of the Pack by Shangra-Las and Terry by Twinkle myself and friends bought them when we were at school. I played them over again and again until my mum took them off me telling me I was too young for that sort of music. She could have been right it was about teenage drama and boys.

Those were the days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PinkCakes Thu 16-Jul-20 12:25:18

Ride a White Swan, by T.Rex

Terry by Twinkle!

I thought I was the only person to have heard of that song.

Over the years I've mentioned it and people just looked at me blankly!

Fabulous song!

Marydoll Thu 16-Jul-20 12:30:27

Kate1949 I still love that song and have just added it to my Spotify list. grin. Thanks for the reminder.

FarNorth Thu 16-Jul-20 12:36:51

King of the Road - Roger Miller

Kate1949 Thu 16-Jul-20 12:43:04

It's lovely Marydoll I loved The Hollies. Tony Hicks was one of my (many) teenage crushes. He still looks good now. smile

Kate1949 Thu 16-Jul-20 12:44:38

Oh I loved Terry. Our neighbour is called Terry. Every time I see him that song goes through my head!

Puzzler61 Thu 16-Jul-20 12:47:59

My first 45 record was “Cottonfields”, The Beach Boys in 1969.
I think Brian Wilson is still alive and nearly 80.

Marydoll Thu 16-Jul-20 12:53:29

Puzzler, I had forgotten that one. Off to add it too. I could be here all day. grin

What a gentle, uplifting thread. Thanks TrendyNannie
