The baboons are rioting at Knowsley Safari Park. Allegedly! We are going to Woburn ?

We are going this week. Well to Woburn.

Yesterday there was an article about the baboons at Knowsley in the paper. Luckily my husband missed it. Damn, it’s-in the paper again this morning and he didn’t miss it.
Apparently they have somehow managed to arm themselves with all sorts of implements and are dismantling what they can. Chainsaws have been mentioned.

My DH wasn’t keen before, now he’s very very unhappy.?
We are going in my car anyway because mine is old and I am not bothered about a ‘little’ damage.
Hope I’ve made the right decision.

I presume that quite a few of you have had the experience in the recent past. Any horror stories? Hopefully you all had a wonderful time.

Baboons fighting back? Who’d have thought it!

But I am sure baboons feel the same frustrations we do - not only “Does my bum look big in this?” but “Does the colour suit me?”
You can rest assured though that the Woburn baboons are perfectly behaved as befits a ducal establishment.

Oh dear! This reminds me of the monkey that hitched a ride with John and Kayleigh in Car Share. Check your roof as you leave, Pamelaj1!

Get that Werther’s off it, it’ll choke! We can’t take it back if it’s dead.

Good on the baboons perhaps they can lead us out of the mess we are in

Furret Mon 27-Jul-20 08:25:35

Baboons are human too!

Nortsat Mon 27-Jul-20 08:25:36

Is this the start of ‘Planet of the Apes’ ... ?

lemongrove Mon 27-Jul-20 09:23:21

?
Not just monkeys ripping off windscreen wipers or car trim then?
Watch out for baboons bearing chainsaws!?

Grandmabatty Mon 27-Jul-20 11:42:05

I couldn't be bothered with all that monkeying around. I think if they damaged my car I'd go ape.
I'll get my coat ?

Apparently people might have been supplying the chimps with these items!

Many years ago my family went to a safari park. Longleat maybe. Not sure.

My father wouldn't take us in his car so my mother's Morris Traveller made the journey. Odd car with wooden slats all over it.

We used to have canoes and we had this roof rack which was padded with carpet underlay to transport the them.

We ended up totally covered with apes/baboons. Everyone was taking photos of our car. The chimps were ripping off the underlay and eating it. My mother was having a fit thinking they'd end up dying. Yelling at father to put his foot down which he clearly couldn't do

My mother was phoning the safari park for weeks after to make sure we hadn't killed them off

Happily all survived

What a lovey mum, Oops, to be so concerned.

EllanVannin Mon 27-Jul-20 12:21:48

Yobs are leaving these " weapons " with the baboons. Typical !!

EllanVannin Mon 27-Jul-20 12:23:03

Knowsley used to be an okay place until the dross moved there.

DiscoGran Mon 27-Jul-20 12:31:28

I hope you weren't planning to go to the Woburn Hotel after for dinner. This lovely hotel closed due to CV, and apparently won't be reopening at all. I wanted to take my DH there for a surprise weekend for his birthday in November. ?

I'm sure the Knowsley baboons are as lovely as the Woburn ducal posh boys!

I much prefer the animals to the people who live there Riverwalk.

Furret Mon 27-Jul-20 12:45:33

I never had any issues with people from Knowsley when I worked in the North West.

EllanVannin, I can only assume that you've never come across any members of my lovely family who live in Knowsley, where I hail from.

Now I'm the king of the swingers, the jungle V.I.P
I reached the top and had to stop
And that's what bothering me
I want to be a man, man-cub, and stroll right into town
And be just like those other men
I'm tired of monkeying around.

Disco,
luckily we weren’t planning on eating there. I read that in the paper after I’d started the chat.
Such a shame.

That post was so funny MawB grin

Is Paris House still open /re-opening?

DiscoGran Mon 27-Jul-20 13:43:47

I just checked their website, Paris House has re opened, with limited availability. Never been MawB, but it looks beautiful.

DiscoGran Mon 27-Jul-20 13:48:18

One of the Woburn baboons threw sh*t at my friend's DH last time they went. Wish I'd been there, he's an a**e. ?
