Good Morning Everyone,
Its a blue sky start here in Brackley this morning.
Yesterdays experience at the opticians , was interesting , on entry sanitizer, temperature check on my my brow, before I could see the optician also the face mask which did not help, as to various screens etc , steaming up reading letters or symbols , but otherwise Ok but different .
Today, the bus to Bicester , cafe stop and a small shop , then return home .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning from sunny E Kent.
Glad to know that all was OK with your eyes Mick despite the peculiar circs.
Attached is a picture of my buckets. On the left is a regular mug. No chamber pot for me, when a bucket is available!
I was nearly fainting in the supermarket with mask on. DH was in hysterics when he saw me poking my head into an empty shelf to remove my make and gulp in some air. We got a mountain of stuff for our siege preparations. More next week.
Nothing today except for market - I’ll get flowers and probably some meat from the mobile butcher.
To those in difficulties, have a good day. Stay safe everyone.

Gelisajams Thu 30-Jul-20 06:24:31

Good morning from the North Sea as we approach Aberdeen. It’s like a mill pond now but was a bit ‘choppy‘ last night and I was glad of the sea sick ness tablets which I was advised to take when I asked last night.
Will head straight home when we disembark, no overnight stop. Hopefully home mid to late afternoon. Will catch up later!
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Good morning from east London, sunny, blue skies and warming up. Just iced a cake (cherry Madeira) to take away with us and having a quiet cup of tea before I leap into action. I’m off to help at the foodbank this morning before we go off to Dymchurch as we can’t access the accommodation until after 4pm. Looking forward to walking on the beach.
Hope you have a good day.

Good morning from Shropshire.

Up with the lark today as we are off to Staffordshire to see DD2 and her little family.

Good to hear the opticians went well Mick.

Safe journey home Gelisajams and happy holidays Mythbirt.

Have a good day all.

Morning All

A sunny summers morning here in the the north of Norfolk too.

No idea what's on the cards for today. Although I really should do some washing, the basket is getting rather full.

Wishing everyone a successful day whatever you're up to.

Scentia Thu 30-Jul-20 06:42:51

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Looks like the sun has found his hat and will don it later!
Busy at the factory as it is the end of the month and deliveries need to be made, I will pop in to see DD and DGS and drop off all my EBay buys to him. A little tool bench this time!
Enjoy Dymchurch mybirth
DH has said he will take me out for a ride on his motor tomorrow. I have not been on the back of his bike for 8 years as I ride myself but I stopped riding my own bike last year as I felt too nervous, I am similar with the car too so only drive when essential. I think it’s the menopause? if I enjoy it we will take the bike up to Whitby next week for my birthday weekend away.
Have a wash in and will peg out before work. I love pegging my washing out!
Take care everyone and stay safe today.❤️

Scentia Thu 30-Jul-20 06:44:03

Sorry mythbirt spell check!!

Grandmafrench Thu 30-Jul-20 06:54:15

Good Morning everyone. What marvellous weather for your break, Mybirt. Love that unspoilt part of the coast.
Hope you’re not too tired after a rough night at sea, Gelisajams. Safe drive home.

Lovely to have a family visit, Susan. Bet you’ll enjoy the change of scene. Have fun on the bike trip ? tomorrow, Scentia should be perfect weather.

We’re off early to buy a door ? (as you do!) before the heat makes shopping a bit of a mission! I can’t peg my washing out as will be burnt to a crisp by the time we get home. Maybe this evening!

Have a super day, all. Keep smiling behind those masks. x

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it is sunny.

I loved it when we went to Dungeness mybirth and if we had been on our own would probably have taken the train to Dymchurch.

I’m going to mow the lawn and have a day in the garden pottering.

Yesterday I had my hair cut. Obviously a few things different but I had a nice chat with hairdresser so I came away happier than I thought I would be. I’ve been growing out my hair colour and when my friend came round in the afternoon she thought I’d had it dyed grey.

You all sound very busy today so safe travels while out and coming back home and good luck for Mrgilly ?

Urmstongran Thu 30-Jul-20 07:08:14

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s warm but not sunny. I just checked the BBC weather site for here and it’ll be cracking the flags before noon though! Actually I also noticed that we’re up to 39°C at the weekend. Uh-oh. Glad we don’t go to the beach then! I’ll be happier sat in the shade with those temperatures. Anyway the next 10 days are more ‘normal’ at 31°C!
??

I slept like the proverbial log last night. No wine yesterday! My rule is none on beach days - at least it ensures I have 3 alcohol-free days a week. It’s too easy out here to drink everyday - it’s cheap, plentiful and there are lots of holiday-makers enjoying themselves which makes it seem quite accessible ha!

No plans today. Himself will do the usual SuperSol shop for the 3 of us. I will put a hair treatment on today - it’s very dry as I don’t like wearing a hat. We will eat out tonight I think. Perhaps La Taperia again and force myself not to order Robo de Toro!

Hope Thursday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. This virus is going nowhere at present. x

Good morning from a very sunny Essex by the sea. Another warm one by the look of it.
Food shopping this morning, I'll put the washing on before I go.
DH is out this afternoon with friends putting the world to rights over a couple of pints.
Have a lovely day and stay safe everyone xx

Good morning, The New Forest has an air of the eerie about it today, wisps of morning mist makes it look quite spooky. I shall be out on my bike shortly. Take care, be safe.

brook2704 Thu 30-Jul-20 07:14:58

Good morning everyone from a dry cloudy Inverness, don’t think we’ve got any sunshine planned for today!
Got to get a move on as I’m looking after DGD today whilst DH takes her brother and DD walking up a big hill near our house which they’ve been wanting to do for ages - hope the rain holds off!
mythbirt and all other lucky GNs going away on holiday have a lovely time!
Have a safe journey home gelisa and so pleased you didn’t get seasick!
Stay safe everyone whatever the day brings ?

Urmstongran Thu 30-Jul-20 07:15:33

La Taperia. A 10 minute stroll away.

Pittcity Thu 30-Jul-20 07:22:43

Good morning from sunny Colchester. A few hot days in the offing.
An easy dental appointment yesterday with none of the usual long wait in a crowded waiting room.
Sitting in the garden today waiting for deliveries/collections and assembling chairs once they arrive.

MellowYellow Thu 30-Jul-20 07:29:00

Good morning from a lovely sunny south Cornwall. This afternoon myself and five other allotment ladies are gathering to enjoy bubbly and nibbles. There's a great social thing at our allotments and we have a Lottery funded cabin where we usually do coffee and cakes every Saturday March to November for the public, but as that's not possible now we thought we'd have a get-together anyway. The others are great bakers (not me!) and make gorgous cakes. Enjoy whatever you're doing today, and take care those with troubles.

NanKate Thu 30-Jul-20 07:36:04

Good morning Mick and All.

Warming up rapidly in South Bucks.

The men have arrived in our cul de sac and are waiting till 8.00 to start laying fibre cable to increase the Internet speed. They have been all around our estate and it’s our turn. I feel sorry for the men as it will be so hot for them in the next 2 days, but heyho it’s a job. It will be megaly noisy so DH says he won’t be wearing his hearing aids. I am a constant user of the Internet so I can hardly complain at the inconvenience.

kittylester Thu 30-Jul-20 07:36:28

Morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

Our cleaner is due this morning and the house really needs her attentions. And, I've got a hair appointment this morning. Its neighbours drinks this evening too. Oh, and a Sainsbury's delivery. It's all go round here.

We saw DD1 and her family yesterday. DGS3 has taught himself to play Wonderwall on a guitar. It was very good and very, very long. grin

Over the last 10 days we gave seen all but 2 of our grandchildren but I cant help feeling that we need to store the memories before the next lockdown.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 30-Jul-20 07:42:12

Good morning Mick and all

Pleased the optician went well yesterday Mick

Safe journeys to all morningers who are travelling today/the weekend.

Off to M & S Food Hall when I have showered and gathered myself only third time since lockdown.

Enjoy your tapas this evening Urmstongran we are wandering down to our local Indian restaurant, have booked a booth which I feel is safe. At the moment I fancy Tandoori King Prawn Balti but that’s may change by the time I sit down ???

Hoping Marydoll is ok, gillybob keeping everything crossed for Mrgillybob tomorrow.

Thinking of our virtual friends with troubles ??

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

cornergran Thu 30-Jul-20 08:06:30

Morning Mick, morning All. Bright sunny morning in our corner of Somerset. Need to sort the food order then off for a walk, round a lake we think this time. Yesterday’s trip was easier than we had anticipated, think we’ll have to go back fairly regularly for a while. Will be thinking of mr Gillybob tomorrow, hope you’re more comfortable marydoll. Be gentle with yourselves everyone, be careful out there.

Pantglas2 Thu 30-Jul-20 08:08:30

Morning all from a dry and cloudy Spain where we’ve been without water for 24 hours! Apparently one of our wells is misbehaving so?back to the good old days of stand up wash at the basin ?.

Luckily we have some 8L bottles of water to tide (ha!) us over and will just eat out until normal service is resumed. So a trot to Carrefour and brunch is my treat for the day?☕️

Isn’t it funny how we have different mugs GrandMattie? My chamberpot of tea first thing, a large mug for coffee mid morning then a delicate bone china mug for my earl grey of an afternoon! DH thinks I’m daft......?

Have a lovely day everyone x

Grammaretto Thu 30-Jul-20 08:24:02

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is decidedly wet despite being forecast warm and sunny. Maybe that's tomorrow?

We have moved our meeting premises to my garden for our weekly yarn group and I try not to make it a competitive baking event by buying scones from the cafe home made/delicious so no-one feels pressured to bake or to eat.
That's the theory anyway!!
That must have been strange Mick but at least your eyes have been tested. My hair has been cut but no-one noticed until I pointed it out. I am beginning to notice those with long hair now.
DH has an audio appointment so things are gradually getting back to normal.
We should hear today whether the schools will start on August 11th. Our DGC are all very keen to start, the wee one in P1.
Hope you all have the best day possible.

EllanVannin Thu 30-Jul-20 08:25:08

Good Morning All x
Raining for a change here. Just looking at the news from London showing beautiful blue skies ! Imagine how I feel sad

Will be going for my INR at 9, so everything earlier than normal this morning, hoping it's okay. I'll have to wear a mask or I'll get shouted at again grin

Had a lovely chinwag yesterday with one of our " grans " who I saw when I was local shopping. I even sat outside a cafe with her and her relative while they waited for their meal. Their offer of the chair as I didn't just plonk myself down, I wouldn't have done that.

Got home, after an hour and a half of being out, had some lunch then D called with GGS who'd been trampolining so now he wants one in the garden. D is taking the 3 children to Whitby tomorrow for the day as it's supposed to be fine. The children are happy with my D, so it'll be a case of " granny bringing up the children ". Good job she's got a big house and garden. It's been a bumpy year but things will work out.

There's a hold-up with the 3 younger children as their foster-carer was tested for Covid as she thought/thinks that she may have it so we're waiting for results before the children can be allowed home to their mum. Nobody can be too careful at all as the virus is still floating around.

The support from social services has been second to none with all of them falling over themselves to help in whatever way they can, it's been amazing. We feel as though we're the only family that they're assisting with as there must be dozens who need their help in some way. This all came about when GD's partner died in March and GD wasn't coping with all the children. We're a lucky family right now.

I'll have to shift myself, make sure the cats are in though I won't be long as the surgery is only a short walk away---uphill.
I'll go through posts on my return, so for the time being no mischief while I'm away. x See you soon.
