Oh I also meant to say that the heavens opened up so that was why we went into the house when the photos and videos was took and there was a brief thunderstorm which made me a bit nervous. X

Cleaned the bathrooms, utility and downstairs loo (left DH to do kitchen, bedroom and living room), shortened sleeves on a new fleece (ridiculous in this weather, but needed doing for week away next week) Made a special mask for church, very thin and loose as a protest, I cannot see the point when you can sit for hours in a crowded bar without one! Did my work for the hospice, then went to natter with friends in their garden, over a glass or two of wine.

I really did enjoy myself! It wasn't that I didn't really want to go, I didn't feel up to it. 36!! That must have been awful, it was only around 23° (I'm not sure as I didn't look at the weather) and I did feel a bit funny about the heat. X

I was off work today, and it was my eldest son's birthday, so I saw him, with his children. I gave him his presents (2 books, Next gift card, toiletries and a backpack he wanted). We went to a nice pub for some lunch and then to a park, where the GC rode their bikes. Then we got some ice creams, then went to my house for a while. My husband came home from work, then we all had tea and cake. I took them all home later, and I made a salad for tea. Before all that, I'd done 3 lots of washing and got it all dry.

Not much, my usual walk early, picked over my runner beans found loads hiding, sat outside for a while but then retired to the cooler front of the house with the ceiling fan on and windows open.

Some of my grandchildren have been asked by school to keep a diary of what they’ve been doing in the school holidays........

Well yesterday I was looking forward to four of my grandchildren spending the day here,had baked cakes etc..sorted out garden toys and games..then woke up to the news that we had gone into lockdown from midnight...so had a very weepy day...I do understand it had to be done...but it still is so hard...

Yesterday it was so hot here that I, mainly, stayed in the coolest room - my sitting room.
My eldest daughter made a surprise visit, which was nice, to have a cuppa and a chat.
I had the podiatrist visit later as I am having problems with my toe healing after nail surgery. It's been over 4 weeks and still not right

Had a meeting with architect about our proposed extension to remove the back porch and give us a utility room and a sun room opening off the (small) dining room so we can open it all up when we have extras for meals. Finished off face coverings I have made for DS2 and DGF. In the afternoon I collected an old laptop we have been having upgraded to Windows 10 so it can be used for Zoom etc. Then printed out church newsletters and delivered to three neighbours who don't have email. Delivered a birthday card to a friend and collected takeaway fish and chips from the pub for us and for a friend and her husband who had been shielding. Busy day. Quieter today. Walk in the woods, wash a heap of flower pots, cook a meal, maybe some sewing, glass of something, bed.

Thank you FlyingHandbag (trying and failing to think of a shortened version!) yes, I do enjoy sewing, but that that one could have been said to have been sewn in frustration!

I have a dress cut out, but it will have to wait for a week before I can complete it.

Farview I really feel for you, I do hope you will be able to have them round very soon. Plan the next one in a few weeks, you need to have something to look forward to. And if the cakes won't freeze, I am sure you will find some very happy neighbours to give them to.

We went food shopping for the first time since lockdown. We have had a Sainsbury’s delivery regularly since then. We went to Lidl very early. A good experience but no obvious safety measures around the shop. Luckily not many people there. For Wales,where wearing a face covering is not mandatory , a far number of people were masked

Where are you? It was one of the hottest days on record!

I'm not sure what the temperature was at all, I was guessing 23° but I'm now thinking it was more. X

Even up in Manchester it was around 30C and in the South in some places 37C.

Oh, a quick google shows it was 30° but it didn't feel like that, possibly because I was in the paddling pool. X
