Good Morning Everyone ,
Its a clear blue sky start here in Brackley ,and what appears could be a very hot day .
Yesterdays bus and shop trips went Ok , got back earlier than planned so watched a cycle race on Eurosport, which involved a UK base team event was in France and featured a climb up the barren landscape of Mont Ventoux.
Today , shop this morning and more cycling n TV the first race will see Chris Froome battle for selection for the Tour De France.
Take Care
Mick

Morning Mick from a cooler morning in Spain where I’m supping my second chamberpot of tea ☕️

A quieter day today after the laughter of ladies lunch yesterday but we’re out with friends to a quiz & pasta this evening so the weekend will definitely be spent at home - I can’t cope with too much socialising, proper lightweight that I am!

Hope all is well with your world x

Beechnut Fri 07-Aug-20 06:23:21

Good Morning everyone. It’s a tad hazy on Severnside.
Are the buses getting busier with more passengers Mick?

Shopping trip first thing for me and then some ironing (if I remember it’s there). I might light the fire pit tonight as I have a few stumps to get rid of.

Have a good day all ?

grandMattie Fri 07-Aug-20 06:27:55

Good morning from clear, sunny, HOT E Kent.
Horrible night. Been awake since 3am and up at 5am. Chatting to DS2 who’s on nights!
Today will be too hot to move, so shan’t. We’re promised 31C. Hate this heat.
To those in any sort of distress, have a good day, be kind to yourselves. Everyone, stay safe.

Marydoll Fri 07-Aug-20 07:01:02

Good morning all from a cloudy, but muggy Glasgow. Another disturbed night for me.

Congratulations to anzie, up in Aberdeen. I'm sorry your Golden Wedding celebrations for today have been ruined.
Scentia, I hope you had a lovely birthday and managed to get to Whitby..

Nothing much to report, but I may have something exciting to report tomorrow. ? However, I'm am afraid to tempt fate by posting about it.?

I'm really struggling just now, so a surprise visit yesterday from DGD was just the tonic I needed. She nonchalantly told me she had been on a zip wire in the local park. The last time a child told me that he had been on a zip wire, was on a school trip and the pupil told me he had thought he had broken his hand.?.
We were miles from anywhere!

Hugs for all those (and partners), who are struggling and hope to see our missing GM friends posting again soon. Enjoy your day everyone.

kittylester Fri 07-Aug-20 07:40:50

Good morning from an already hot and sunny North Leicestershire.

Today is DH's 75 birthday and, as a treat, we are going to John Lewis to order chairs!! grin At least they should have air conditioning in. It is sad that we can't throw our usual party for notable birthdays but at least we are all safe and well.

And, DS1 has tested negative for Covid but was feeling better anyway.

Wishing everyone a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 07-Aug-20 07:42:28

Good morning Mick and all

marydoll sorry to hear you are struggling we will all have to look for your lost oomph
Careful on your trip Mick

I am off to the gym for two classes this morning then it’s home for a quick shower before lunch in our local tea rooms they gave a beautiful garden with shaded spots just right to celebrate my friends birthday.

DD and GSs will be here with GrandpaGravy as it is going to be very hot here and the five year old wants to swim with Grandpa.

It is meant to be the hottest day of the year today here in S E Essex I hope I can fit in a dip sometime today. ( we haven’t got a pool but do have a very large hot tub that all the GC have learnt to swim in)

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Sar53 Fri 07-Aug-20 07:43:54

Good morning everyone from a sunny Essex by the sea. Today Is going to be a hot one.
We have decided on a picnic near the beach with our chairs and Kindles. We'll only stay a couple of hours and then retire back home. Other than that we have no plans apart from trying to keep cool.
Have a lovely day and stay safe everyone xx

GrannyGravy13 Fri 07-Aug-20 07:44:22

Happy 75th MrKitty.

Don’t rely on John Lewis air-con my sister went into a JL the other day and they said they were unable to use AC due to Covid!!!

Good news about your DS

?‍♀️

brook2704 Fri 07-Aug-20 07:46:18

Good morning everyone from a lovely sunny Inverness. The outlook is warm for today, but not the intense heat - it doesn’t usually get past about 25º at the most up here!
We’re taking the DGC to the local National Trust property today, Brodie Castle as they have a couple of good children’s playgrounds there. And a zip wire marydoll!
Hope you enjoy watching the cycling mick
Take care everyone whatever you’re doing and have a good day all?

Marydoll Fri 07-Aug-20 07:46:23

Birthday wishes to Mr Kitty ! ?

Gingster Fri 07-Aug-20 07:46:56

Good morning from a sunny, calm and warm Suffolk coast. It’s going to be a scorcher today. We usually have a bit of a breeze here, so hopefully won’t be too uncomfortable. Perhaps a dip in the sea and a leisurely day. Surely you northern grans will have sunshine today. ?

Just starting a new book so I’ll find a sheltered spot and sip elderflower cordial.

I’m looking forward to your exciting news Marydoll. Hope you have a better day.

Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary anzie ? So sorry your celebrations won’t go ahead, this virus has messed up so many gatherings . It’s our GW next summer. I wonder if things will be different by then. Who knows! .

Have a peaceful, painfree, gentle day! ?

Nanabanana1 Fri 07-Aug-20 07:52:18

Good morning everyone, lovely morning here in Torbay, two of my grandchildren coming for the weekend today, (hurray) so I’ll just finish my cup of tea then up and at em Chocolate Cake to make (grandsons favourite).
Hope everyone has a good day. Stay cool Ladies and Gents.

NfkDumpling Fri 07-Aug-20 07:53:36

Morning All

24c already here in the north of Norfolk , I don't think we'll be doing anything energetic today! We certainly won't be heading to the coast and I feel sorry for all those excited children stuck in cars in the queues to find parking.

DH is on a new medication which has to be taken an hour before breakfast - so he's getting up an hour earlier and that's my GN browsing time gone! I shall definitely be checking in tomorrow though for Marydoll's news!

Urmstongran Fri 07-Aug-20 07:53:43

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s the start of another gorgeous day ?. Yes it’s hot but there’s a lovely fresh breeze to so it doesn’t feel at all muggy.

We are allowed to invite 2 friends into the communal gardens again - slight loosening of the Covid rules - so we have given a fob to the waiter down in Juan’s. He was delighted - he and his wife play tag working shifts so one of them is able to be home with their 2 year old cute button - so he’s going to bring her over at noon.

Their apartment doesn’t have a pool or a grass area and he said she doesn’t like the beach much - the sand is too hot and the waves scare her. It will also save him trekking back up the hill in the middle of the afternoon (so hot with beach stuff and a buggy!) before he has to get ready for work. She can enjoy playing in the pool with daddy (or mummy) now this summer!

I’m off to the hair salon at 5pm to get my blonde highlights done so my head will be full of tin foils! I will want to eat out after I’ve been. La Taperia, Juan’s, Pedro’s or Sebastian’s? We rotate amongst our 4 local bars to support them. I’d hate to lose them. 3 of them are right outside the block!

Yesterday we were sat at Juan’s having some lunch and a Spanish lady walked past doing her shopping in the 3pm heat. She took very sensible precautions!

Hope Friday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

travelsafar Fri 07-Aug-20 07:56:29

It is beautiful here at the moment. Feels cool and fresh with a hint of the heat to come. I am off to my friend's garden for coffee and a catch up in her garden. I dont plan on doing anything this afternoon as i know from last Friday i just wilted in the 34 degree heat!!!!

Pittcity Fri 07-Aug-20 07:56:43

Good morning from sunny Colchester. A hot day and weekend in the offing.
I was up early dusting DS's room as he is home on leave from the Navy today. Hope to be sitting in the shade catching up.
Happy Anniversary to the anzies and happy birthday MrLester ?

Susan56 Fri 07-Aug-20 08:01:26

Good morning from Shropshire.Forecast for a hot day today.

DGD still asleep so hopefully she won’t fall asleep in the car later when we take her home.If she sleeps in the car it means she won’t want to go to bed at bedtime.

I hope your exciting news tomorrow is what I think it is Marydoll??

Happy Golden Wedding anniversary anzie??

Sending good wishes to purple pixie who is struggling at the moment, also dragonfly, blue sapphire and anyone else with illness and worries.

Have a good day all.

Lins1066 Fri 07-Aug-20 08:01:51

Good Morning Mick and all, it is finally a sunny one on the S Welsh coast too.
Take care of yourself Marydoll, wonder what your surprise will be, a good one I'll bet.
Happy Birthday to Kitty's DH and good news about your son, a really good present that.
Happy Anniversary for yesterday anzie and welcome to GM.
Our Sainsbury's delivery man phoned yesterday to ask if he could deliver early - yes of course- two minutes later he arrived, he must have been in the next street. All good though and he was so polite as indeed have all the delivery drivers.
Have a good day every one and stay safe.

loopyloo Fri 07-Aug-20 08:04:18

Good morning from East London. Very exciting day as a shed is being delivered! Up to us to build it. Gives DH a project.
Stay cool, everyone.

Kalu Fri 07-Aug-20 08:05:29

Good morning all from Glasgow where the sun has now broken through.

Only plan today is a visit to the shops as I have no wrapping paper or even bought a card yet forGD’s birthday on Sunday. We have a small shopping mall which I haven’t been anywhere near since beginning of March so hoping it will be quieter late afternoon. Washing to hang out soon then enjoy pottering about in the garden.

Have a pleasant day, hopefully a sunny one too and best wishes for a brighter day for those struggling with difficult times.

NannyJan53 Fri 07-Aug-20 08:06:01

Good Morning from a bright and sunny Black Coutry. Already very warm.

Yesterday SIL finished off cutting down the conifers at the back of the garden, and it now seems much bigger and lighter.

No plans today, so will probably just see how it goes. Probably have a BBQ tonight to make the most of this weather, and will bring Mum over to join us.

Wishing MrKitty a very happy birthday wine cupcake

Welcome to the thread anzie and happy anniversary, so sad you cannot celebrate it in the way you planned.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Aug-20 08:06:16

Happy birthday to Mr.Kitty. Must say I’ve never heard of chairs with air con in them ... haha!
?

Marydoll I’m already on tenterhooks!

Welcome to you anzie - sorry to hear of your cancelled plans for your GWA. It must be a huge disappointment after all your planning and shopping but as you say, the main thing is to enjoy what you have together. ❤️
By the way, you didn’t tell us all the value of your house? It’s good for us to know these important details about our newbies.
Joke.
?

Nortsat Fri 07-Aug-20 08:06:19

Good morning Mick (glad you are enjoying the cycling on television) and the GM team from a sunny east London.

As my shielding has been extended and we can’t go out anywhere we’ll have our dinner in the garden this evening, at about 8.00pm, when it’s a little cooler . We’ll play some nice ‘cool jazz’ music and pretend we’re sitting in a bistro in Provence.
I have pave rump steaks and will serve them with red wine jus. My partner enjoys the potato wedges I often make, but they require the oven to be on for 45 minutes... so that won’t work today!

Happy Golden wedding anniversary Anzie. Happy significant birthday to Mr Kitty. Looking forward to Maryd’s news tomorrow.
Good wishes to all who are facing challenges. Hello to Dragonfly, Cherry and Bluesapphire. Keep cool today, team ?

cornergran Fri 07-Aug-20 08:06:29

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset. Click and collect excitement this morning, wish I’d remembered to un-tick the substitutions box. Banana chips instead of apricots just doesn’t work here hmm. Good news about your son kitty and a very happy birthday mr lester. A happy anniversary to mr and mrs anzie. Take care everyone and be gentle with yourselves.
