Today do a small shop for cemetery flowers ,and some work on graves before it gets to hot .

Good Morning everyone. It’s grey and very warm on Severnside.

I’m going to see my sister in law today. I’ve not seen her since February so I’m looking forward to later. I see my brother most weeks.
My DD is home from her French holiday so I’m also looking forward to hearing about that when I see her.

Have a good day all ?

Good morning from a bright, warm E Kent. I so hope that today’s heat will be more tolerable than yesterday’s. I was melting, every crease was soggy, I was dripping everywhere - and that was when just sitting down. This heat really doesn’t agree with me.
Had frozen hot water bottles in bed last night, together with my wet sheet!
The carrot cake was declared delicious, and 1/3 has already gone. It’ll be finished by tonight. DH thanks you for you good wishes.
DD arrived at 11 last night and the house is quiet at the moment. She said she was hottest here than all day - obviously Bristol is a lot cooler.
Shall make pancakes for the little girls for breakfast in a minute.
Be kind/gentle to yourselves today. Enjoy th3 sunshine and stay safe.

Morning Mick and all who follow - I’ve been up since sparrowfart as we’re off to the ? and a lovely lunch in our favourite chiringuito, gambas pil pil for me so I’ll be reeking of garlic!

Loved the pics from Marydoll and glad the day went well. Hope everyone has a good day whatever they’re doing and especially those not feeling clever at the moment. ???

Nannytopsy Mon 10-Aug-20 06:51:32

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
I haven’t made it to the kitchen in time to post for a few days but I have read all your news. I am so glad the wedding went well for the Marydolls and I hope you are getting over the excitement.
We are in Kent, visiting DD. This is the first time we have left Suffolk since March and we have felt like we are on holiday. It is still terribly warm so there will be more sitting reading with my feet in the paddling pool!
Keep cool and safe everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud and a fairly strong breeze in our corner of Somerset. It seems different here, our garden managed 19 degrees yesterday morning, up to a comfortable 24 in the afternoon. Table booked for lunch in our favourite restaurant other than that nothing planned today. Thank you for the photos marydoll, a wonderful and emotional day. Hope you’re not too exhausted. Be gentle with yourselves everyone and please take care out there.

Good morning from a warm cloudy Wirral where we have spent the night on a campsite.
Lovely to read Marydoll’s posts late last night. So glad it turned out so special.
Off to north Wales later, to visit Abakan a large fabric shop to refresh my sewing stash (not that it really requires refreshing) but when DH suggested it I wasn’t going to argue.
Will be home later today.
Here’s hoping that today is the day Gilly’s contract materialises.
Thinking of all with problems of one sort or another. Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s promising another day of wall-to-wall sunshine at 33°C. I know that sounds hot but there’s a soft breeze generating plenty of air so it’s not muggy.

I finished Bryony Gordon’s autobiography ‘Glorious Rock Bottom’. She wrote from the heart and it was an unsettling read. I would not want to read any of her other books now (Mad Girl and The Wrong Knickers) because she has shown us the heartache behind the supposed fun and laughter. The life of a celebrity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be - especially if there are addictions in the mix.

We shall just be in the gardens. Having dips in the pool, reading and generally lazing. It’s too hot to want to be walking anywhere - I’m leaving that till next month! Enjoy the ? Pantglas! Be careful on your paddle board.
?

Hope Monday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning everyone from a cloudy but warm Inverness. Yesterday was another beautiful day, warm sunshine and a gentle breeze. I was pottering in the garden all day still fighting a losing battle with the weeds ?
Today I’m off out for the day into the Cairngorm mountains with DH, stopping off en route at a local coffee shop that we’ve not been to for ages. I think it might be busy today with the eat out to help out scheme so hope we get a table ok.
Hope everyone enjoys their days out, family visits or whatever the day brings! Take care all and stay safe out there ?

Good morning all from a misty and breezy North Leicestershire. Taking my car for a service today. I hope they clean it! grin

It was lovely to hear about Marydoll's lovely day and I hope she comes back with some more photos today. And some cake!

Puzzler61 Mon 10-Aug-20 07:31:59

Good Morning Mick and all. I think we’re forecast a bit cooler temps. in the days that follow - but sticky nights.

Yesterday we made a last minute booking for a favourite village pub restaurant. It was not at all busy yet in normal times the bar and the restaurant are very popular especially at weekends.

We chose a table in the garden and sat facing a field beyond the garden where 2 horses were grazing quietly, unaware of us.

We had stuffed pork loin with apple and cider sauce, roast potatoes and steamed veg with good meaty gravy (apologies any vegans reading).

The young staff were friendly and very efficient. All dishes were placed at an extra small table at the end of our table, it was explained they do that making it unnecessary to get close to / lean over any customers thus keeping a social distance.
Card payment at the end of course.

We were glad we went - it was a real treat and a bit more normality crept back into our lives.

I hope everyone is getting a little bit of “normal” back.
My thoughts go to all who are once again under lockdown or isolating still.
Take care ?

Morning All

Another lovely sunny morning here in the north of Norfolk with a refreshing northerly gentle breeze.

This morning we're taking DGDog back to his family who got back from France last night. We're taking the camper for social distancing!

Off now to find Marydoll's wedding report.

Justwidowed Mon 10-Aug-20 07:34:15

Good morning Mick and everyone from a sunny Lancashire. I haven't posted for a while as it's normally lunchtime before I get round to reading Gransnet.
Up early today as I'm changing bedding and want it dry and ironed before having lunch out with my neighbours.Today will be my 3rd eat out to help out meal and I intend to have at least two lunchtime eat outs every week. I was getting fed up of cooking for one so it's been a godsend to me.

Was pleased to see*Marydoll 's* wedding photos, such a lovely day for everyone.
Stay safe all.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Looks like it's going to be a hot week here. Heat doesn't agree with me, so doing as little as possible in the shade with iced drinks. I'd love a dip in your pool Urmston. Is 30° plus every day for a week in August going to become usual here?

Scentia Mon 10-Aug-20 07:45:09

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire, looks like a nice sunny day is ahead.
I was at DD yesterday helping her decorate, we stripped a whole room yesterday so today is prepping and painting. My little DGS who is just 16 months old was an ark, walking round picking up every bit of paper we scraped off putting it in the dustbin bags! Not sure today and paint will be as easy??
Well I must get on and get over hers, take care everyone ❤️

Sar53 Mon 10-Aug-20 07:49:24

Good morning from a cloudy but warm day in Kent. It's forecast to be 33 degrees later???.
We had lunch out yesterday to celebrate the birthday's of DD2 and DGD1. Youngest DGD 2 1/2 had a spectacular meltdown and ended up in the car with SIL. This was very unlike her and we think probably a combination of heat and tiredness. Back home later she was her usual sunny self.
We are off to buy DGD1 new school shoes this morning , her feet have grown and nothing fits. This afternoon will be spent in the garden, I may even dip my toes in the pool.
Have a pleasant day everyone and stay safe xx

Goodbyetoallthat Mon 10-Aug-20 07:49:30

Good morning it all. It Is definitely cooler here in Swansea this morning.
I am back to work today ? (albeit from home) but we are off for our first meal out since lockdown this evening.
Lovely pictures of Marydolls daughter's wedding.

Grandmabatty Mon 10-Aug-20 08:00:00

Good morning All. It's very overcast here in Polmont and thunder is predicted. I'm on my usual Monday and Tuesday babysitting stints. French toast for his breakfast this morning with blueberries. I hope everyone has a good day.

Kalu Mon 10-Aug-20 08:05:57

Good morning all from a duller start than the last couple of mornings here in Glasgow.

Our sunny birthday picnic was a delight yesterday with DD1 and the girls as we spent the afternoon lazing in the garden nibbling and chatting plus, more cuddles with DD2. It all made life feel quite normal for a change.

No set plan for today but the cat must have her flea and tick monthly treatment today and she is like a slippery eel as DH has to hold her whilst I quickly hit the spot. What a palaver ?

Hope everyone has a pleasant day and less worry for those with difficult times.

Gingster Mon 10-Aug-20 08:09:43

Good morning from our usual sunny Suffolk seaside. We had a sea mist roll in for a couple of hours yesterday but it didn’t put people off sitting on the beach and swimming in the sea. Quite an undercurrent and we watched a regular , very strong swimmer in wetsuit with a buoy attached to his back, swimming against the current, getting nowhere and sometimes going backwards. He must have been exhausted! We were watching him.

We have my DB arriving for a few days today for a much needed break from his wife who has dementia. Hope it’s not too hot so we can walk and talk.

Lovely to see the wedding photos Marydoll . So glad all went well. Rest now.?

Hope everyone has a pleasant day. Don’t work too hard in this heat Scentia . ?

gillybob Mon 10-Aug-20 08:11:58

Good morning from the North East coast where it’s absolutely lashing down with ☔️. The weather has been absolutely diabolical this “summer” . Almost Impossible for anyone to plan an outdoor activity a day ahead .

DH hasn’t had a very good weekend unfortunately but it’s early days .

Just having another cuppa before heading off to “that place” again . It’s like the weekends go over in a flash.

I have little Evie Buttons all day tomorrow and maybe my DGS too as my son and DiL are both back to work full time now and on the same shift. I hope the manage to get them changed around or that could become very difficult indeed .

Thinking about our missing friends dragonfly and BlueSapphire and also GabriellaG who just seemed to disappear overnight . I do hope they are all okay.

My thoughts are also with those who are feeling poorly or under the weather especially CherryCezzy and hoping things look brighter very soon .
A warm welcome back to you JustWidowed do enjoy your meals out smile I can’t honestly remember the last time I ate in a restaurant . Not even sure if it was this year ? confused

Have as good a Monday (my 1st worst day of the week) as possible everyone.

Love Gillybob xx

Grammaretto Mon 10-Aug-20 08:13:08

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It looks cloudy and feels cool.
I hear a bronzeage horde has been found nearby. Reminds me never to have a clearout - must keep all treasure for future archaeologists.
DH still in hospital but in fighting mode today. He's keen to get home now.

It was a lovely treat to see Marydoll's photos yesterday.

Nortsat Mon 10-Aug-20 08:20:13

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from a sunny east London.

Boy, I couldn’t be bothered to cook yesterday. I had roasted some meat very early in the day, so there wasn’t much prep to do. I just couldn’t face it ... and neither could my partner. So he ordered a takeaway instead and opened a bottle of wine.

I think we are both a bit jaded with my shielding. As I have said (ad nauseum - sorry) I have been advised to continue shielding for another month! So everyone’s reports of lovely meals out, sound utterly delicious. (Puzzler I want to go with you to your favourite village pub/restaurant and have roast pork, roast potatoes and lots of gravy ...)
Back to reality ... we’ll have the cold meat and salad for our supper tonight.

Thinking of our friends Dragonfly, Bluesapphire, Purplepixie and pleased to see Cherry posting yesterday. Like everyone, I so enjoyed the Marydoll wedding photos.

We were going to a family wedding on 3rd August which had to be cancelled. It was rearranged to a small event too. The bride had a ‘mini’ hen night, with her mum and her sister ... and the balloons and bunting. The pics were lovely. We haven’t seen the wedding photos yet.

Have a good day all and ? to those who need them ... ?

Morning everyone from sunny south Cornwall. My 4 year old granddaughter wants to spend the day at my place rather than the beach, so I need to get ready for that. It'll be a quiet day, just baking buns and watering my patio plants. She's a sweet soul, such good company. Have the best day you can all of you.

Lins1066 Mon 10-Aug-20 08:35:12

Good Morning Mick and all. A bit of sun and a bit of cloud here on the S Welsh coast, we are further east than * Goodbyetoallthat*. Yesterday was a lovely day spent mainly sitting in the garden. DD, DS and his partner were more energetic and walked along the beach to the Samtampa Memorial, a ship which sank after hitting rocks in 1947, the crew of the Mumbles Lifeboat were also lost. As a child I remember my mother telling me about it.
Hope that gilly's and Grammaretto's husbands will feel better today.
Have a good day and stay safe.
