This isn't your choice I am afraid, it is theirs and it is not an unreasonable one.

If you were all agreed to take the risk and be in a bubble together that would be fine but they aren't and you will need to be patient hard as it is.

I really wouldn't put any pressure on them, they are already worried and if you add pressure as someone who should be supportive it may cause a fall out

Are they worried about you passing Covid to your DGS? Or that you may catch it from him?

You can isolate before you see him, but its more difficult if they're concerned that you may catch it from them. What's the infection rate in your area?

Tell the parents that you will isolate yourselves for10 days, I can’t see that there would be a problem after that, you will then get to cuddle him and play.

Otherwise it would be awful if you to passed Covid onto your GS or his parents wouldn’t it?

Definitely up to the parents

Patience is a virtue!

But I can understand your longing

Sensible parents, I say.

I don’t think you should try and put any pressure on them at all - it’s simply not fair.

suziewoozie Wed 19-Aug-20 21:58:24

It’s completely up to the parents.

It sounds as if they are being over cautious (as is understandable with a first baby). They must have friends with babies of a similar age, what are they doing? I have friends who have been cuddling their newborn GC for weeks now.
To put their minds at rest would it be possible for you to self-isolate for 14 days so you know there would be absolutely no risk?

I am willing to take the risk but..My daughter&son in law aren't shock

The Parents!

My DGD is 7 months old.
When lockdown started we didn’t pick her up or cuddle her, but now in our area cases are very low and we are still distancing from other people, so have decided cuddles are ok.

Who is insisting, parents or you?

GrandmaKT Wed 19-Aug-20 21:12:33

Is the concern for yourself or the baby? Have both families been sensible? If so I personally would risk it, but obviously all parties have to be happy with that.
