Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry but grey here in Brackley this morning.
When I did my early shop yesterday , I saw a promotion poster in the supermarket for autumn .
Today, some housework before I venture out on the buses, it looks like normality will return next week with buses reverting back to normal schedules, with schools going back.
I shall watch the team presentation for the Tour de France later which starts in Nice.
The whole cycle sport season is all out of order and has been squeezed into a 4 moth slot .
Take Care ,
Mick

MorningMick - it’s too dark still here in Spain for me describe the weather but it’s safe to assume there’ll be no rain!

A quiet day doing chores and eating simple meals after my friend’s gourmet dinner last night - and I ate too much!

Stay safe everyone x

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it is cloudy and dry.
Thank you all for my birthday messages. I had a lovely day.

Happy Birthday Urmston I hope you have a lovely day and a sunshiny one ???

I’ve not got a lot on today, just finish off something I started the other day then I will potter and make a shopping list.
Did your son come home after Mattie?

Enjoy your day all and stay safe ?

Nannytopsy Thu 27-Aug-20 06:31:19

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Enjoy your Tour de France Mick - were you a cyclist yourself?
I have been given the responsibility of making DGS’s 7th birthday cake for Sunday and I have just had my second night of dreams about it all going wrong. That’s why I am awake so early. DiL wants me to use only their free range eggs so I can’t start until the chickens have laid enough!
Happy Birthday Urmstongran - a you having a Harry Potter sorting hat cake? grin
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Pantglas2 Thu 27-Aug-20 06:33:59

Same goes for anyone else I might miss.....?

grandMattie Thu 27-Aug-20 06:34:12

Good morning from a grey, dry E Kent.
Happy birthday, Urms.
Beech, yes, my darling boy went home last night with a sackful of drugs and an appointment for MRI in 3 months’ time. He was beside himself at the idea of a night without being woken up to change drips or take bp! I think now they have a diagnosis for his various health issues, his life will be easier.
I’m going out to lunch today, a rare event at any time, with an old friend I’ve been keeping an eye out for during lockdown and keeping her supplied with asparagus, watercress and bakewell tarts with no nuts! She insists on paying. Very sweet of her. It will be the first time I’ve been to town since Christmas.
As I’ve nearly finished the patchwork quilt for DD, I shall take the opportunity to go to the fabric shop to see if I can find something suitable to my myself a quilt for our room. I’m looking for indigo and powder blues. Not easy, curiously.
Be gentle with yourselves; have a good day, stay safe. X

Up to have early breakfast as I woke up very early! I may go back to bed as I still feel a bit weary! We had a lovely tea yesterday in Claridge's, a belated birthday celebration for DH. Trains were very empty both ways. Food shopping and gardening today. Happy birthday to Urmstongran.

Scentia Thu 27-Aug-20 07:04:28

Good morning all from East Staffordshire, hope the weather will stay fine today, I am a bit rained out!
Had a lovely day out yesterday at Belvoir Castle with DD and DGS. We didn’t go into the castle but did have a lovely time in the little shopping village. There is so much to do at the factory today and tomorrow as it is month end and DH does like to get stuff out the door.
Took DPooch to the vets (again!) last night and with all her ailments it is going to cost just short of £70 a month for her medication and DH thinks I should let her go if these meds don’t make her feel better, she is only 8 but this last year has been so sad with her allergies and now she has damaged her eyesight by scratching so much. She is on a short course of more steroids to see if we can calm it all down a bit to assess if she will get any respite with these new tablets and shampoos she has. It is a full time job administering these meds to be honest. I really don’t know what is the best thing for her to be honest. She hates the treatments and cries so much and shakes and hides. Sorry to pass my woes on to you all but I am feeling so sad for her.
Anyway, I must put my smile on my face, go wake her up and get ourselves off to the factory.

Take care everyone and stay safe.

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright corner of Somerset. Our usual rain forecast for later, would be disappointed not to see it grin. Meeting family later, hooray. A very happy, sunny birthday urms, good news grandMattie. Take care and be gentle with yourselves everyone.

Scentia Thu 27-Aug-20 07:05:38

Good morning everyone from a very grey Essex by the sea. At least the wind has died down.
We went out for dinner last night and left after almost 2 hours having nothing more than a bottle of wine and one starter. Half of the items on the menu were unavailable and the service was so slow. We were sitting down at 7.10 and still waiting for our main courses at 8.55. We asked for the bill for the wine and the starter but they wouldn't let us pay for them. Lots of excuses about being very busy and lots of people eating outside and in the bar but we booked the restaurant two weeks ago so they knew we were coming. I did hear others asking where their meals were. A shame as it's probably the last 'Rishi' meal we will have. We went home and had tea and toast.
Food shopping this morning, maybe a walk later.
Happy birthday Urms, have a lovely day.
Enjoy your Thursday everyone and stay safe xx

kittylester Thu 27-Aug-20 07:26:24

Morning all from a greyish North Leicestershire.

Many happy returns of the day Urmston???

DD2 and her girls are calling in for lunch today on their way home from Derbyshire. And, later, DS2 is calling in to collect some of DH's tools - why don't they buy their own? It will be lovely to see him.

It should be our neighbour's drinks tonight, in our garden, but the forecast is dire.

Enjoy your days everyone.

Jaxjacky Thu 27-Aug-20 07:30:51

Good morning from a cool south Hants, seems to be getting autumnal early, hopefully we’ll get an Indian Summer. Must ring dentist today, meeting a friend for lunch, then off to vape shop to top up supplies. DH got caught in horrendous traffic last night from work, 2.5 hours for normal 40 minute journey, so cancelled our meal out, it would have been a mad rush.
Have a good day all.

mancgirl Thu 27-Aug-20 07:31:32

Good morning from Manchester. Feliz compleanos Urmston hope you have a lovely day. I'm sure a glass of cava or El Coto to celebrate will be on order ?. I had a lovely lunch with a friend yesterday, smoked salmon and prawns and a delicious piece of homemade cake. Got back home to find myself locked out!! Emergency keys to the rescue. Visit to the beauty salon (no comments please!) at lunchtime. My part of greater Manchester was released from the lockdown yesterday just in time. Quick trip to M&S food hall after that. Have a lovely day everyone. flowersfor those with cares and worries.

Greyduster Thu 27-Aug-20 07:37:56

Good morning Michael, and all GNs. Cloudy but dry in South Yorkshire but rain is forecast. We are off this morning to see wild animals with GS, his parents and his friend. It’s going to rain. If the wild animals have any sense they will all be inside! I had a monumental sneezing fit last night after dinner - I quite literally sneezed myself to a standstill and could hardly speak (there’s a novelty). Time to talk to the GP I think. My antihistamines are useless. Have a good day folks.

MellowYellow Thu 27-Aug-20 07:39:16

Morning everyone, dark and starting to rain here in south Cornwall, though I sat on my patio for quite a while before the rain came, which was delicious. Happy birthday Urmstongran ?.

4 year old coming for the day at 9.30 so am preparing for her arrival - getting out chalks, paints, magnets (all 600ish of them) etc etc etc. Yesterday had a quiet day resting from my trip to Newquay. Can't believe how my hips tire me, compared with how much energy I had previously - fast forward to spring and the op. Watched Over The Fence on the telly, an animation with some hilarious observations about human food consumption from an animal perspective!

Raining hard now, thinking about my friend who's booked to go the Minack Theatre (open air, cliff edge) today. Have had many wet, cold but enjoyable visits there! Cushions essential for the granite seats!

All the best to all of you today.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 27-Aug-20 07:43:19

Good morning Mick and all

Grey but no wind here in S E Essex. No plans for today other than a man coming to move our Sky dish later this afternoon.

Oopsadaisy4 Thu 27-Aug-20 07:47:31

Morning everyone from a soon to be sunny Oxfordshire ( I hope) off to Bathroom shop today armed with tape measure and almost ready to place an order once we have spoken to fitter.
Many happy returns Urmston have a lovely day??????

Sentia DDs poor dog is a mass of allergies and is on something called Apiquel ( that might not be spelt correctly) she is allergic to all meat except Duck, but the Apiquel plus a Piriton has sorted out the awful scratching. Have you tried this? It isn’t cheap but it’s very effective.

So pleased your DS is home Grandmattie now he can start to really get better.

Have a good day everybody and please stay safe, cos it’s still out there.

aggie Thu 27-Aug-20 07:48:43

Scentia Thu 27-Aug-20 07:51:00

Gingster Thu 27-Aug-20 07:52:51

Good morning from a dreary looking Suffolk Coast. We have visitors coming today and staying overnight. One couple are bringing their little camper van, so will sleep in that. I’m not sure if we should have friends staying over but we haven’t had visitors for two weeks and I know they haven’t been out, so in effect, they’re are one of our ‘bubbles. ‘

Hopefully we’ll be able to get out for a walk along the beach, but generally we’ll be chatting, eating and drinking. Don’t think the bar b q will be on this evening as rain is forecast later. ?. I’ll put all the meat in the oven and have salad and new potatoes. Simples!

Happy birthday Urmstongran . Have a happy, sunny day. ?.

I feel sad for you and your pooch Scentia. What a dilemma! We hate to see our pets in distress but wouldn’t want to lose them. I know just how you feel. ?

I’m glad your DS is now Home grandMattie , with his meds. I’m sure he will recover quicker now.

How lovely to have tea in Claridges grannysyb. Very special indeed. ☕️??.

Nannytopsy what a responsibility and privilege to be asked to make Gd’s birthday cake. I’m sure it will be gorgeous. Don’t lose sleep over it. ?‍??. DIL sounds very particular! ?

Must get on now as I need to hoover and dust. Good job we have visitors sometimes ?.

Have a pleasant day all ?
