Good Morning Everyone,
It is twilight this morning , with days drawing in, but its dry that is the main thing.
Today, shop early ,and then come back home and relax before watching the drama unfold in todays stage of the TdF on TV .
There other races of note on as well , but I use other means to see the results.
Take Care ,
Mick

Morning Mick (and GrandMattie who usually beats me to second post?) and it’s still dark but dry here and will warm up nicely by mid morning.

Lovely lunch yesterday (and two glasses of ?) but chose not to follow them to the menfolk meet-up later, lightweight that I am? - I suspect DH was disappointed but we’re out on Saturday again and need to pace ourselves at our age!

That hole in your house doesn’t sound clever GG13 - hope they get to the bottom of it.....IYSWIM!

Nothing planned today so will pop in later hoping to see Friday Girl and read about all your bizziness ?

mumofmadboys Fri 11-Sep-20 06:34:49

Good morning all! Back at home now. Need to catch up with washing/ ironing/ admin stuff today. Good to be back in our own bed after 9 nights in different rooms every day! Have a good day all, especially thinking of Marydoll and Gillybob.

grandMattie Fri 11-Sep-20 06:36:02

Good morning from a clear, dry E Kent.
I thought I’d give you a chance to be second today, Pant. Your turn. ?. I was looking at the headlines...
The mornings are getting appreciably darker aren’t they? Time for the equinoctial storms.
Finished my chutney and got 15 pots. I don’t much like pickles and chutneys, think they are “too British”. DH says I’m racist. ?
Busy day today. Haircut, pc man remotely seeing why the printer won’t work, painters again. Cracks have started up once more and asked them to check whether is was nothing much, or the subsidence hasn’t been solved. pace ^ GG13^ Made them a cake as they’re also going to put up my kitchen blind out of the kindness of their hearts.
To those who are not 100% for any reason, hope today is a good day. The others, have a safe, happy day.

Marydoll Fri 11-Sep-20 06:43:11

Good morning all from a dark Glasgow, I haven't a clue what the weather is like, but we have heavy rain forecast this morning.

Just about now, we would have been boarding a plane to my beloved Rome.?. I had put it to the back of my mind until DD phoned yesterday to say she would be popping up today.
I asked why she wasn't working, she said: Did you forget we were supposed to be going to Rome mum?. ?
I know it is the right thing to do, as I'm not feeling my best and keeping safe is more important, but I'm so disappointed.
I love the whole historical experience, trying out my Italian, the food and of course the SHOPPING at the Sunday market.

Tesco delivery today and a bit of housework. DH is golfing, so some peace and quiet.
My appointment at the surgery went very smoothly. I was surprisingly the only patient in the whole surgery, which usually has a very full waiting room.

Wishing everyone the best day possible and thinking of our absent friends.
Hoping that Gilly is feeling a bit better. ?

Marydoll Fri 11-Sep-20 06:48:54

Glad you made it home safely, mobb. We watched another documentary last night about the West Highland line from Fort William to Glasgow and when the train got stuck at Ardlui, because the Caledonian sleeper had broken down and blocked the line, I immediately thought of you! ?

I envy your zest for life and physical fitness.?
I think you have earned a good rest.?

Good morning from a dull Essex by the sea. The sun is trying to appear, it's a big red ball in the sky at the moment.
Supermarket shop this morning, not our usual one as roadworks are causing chaos on the route to that one .
Not much else on the cards for today. I discovered a half finished cross stitch yesterday so another project to do. DH can't understand how I can have so many things on the go at once, he thinks I should finish one before I start another.
GG13 I hope you haven't been disrupted too much, a worry for you.
flowers for anyone who is worried or sad.
Have the best Friday you can and stay safe everyone xx

Nannytopsy Fri 11-Sep-20 07:09:07

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Dry and bright in Suffolk with some light cloud. Our friend has gone home and grandparent duties are finished for a week or two. They were very tired yesterday afternoon - school takes some getting used to when you are 4 or 7! DGD was complaining that she was cold yesterday afternoon and developed a temperature and headache when she got home. Hopefully it isn’t Covid but just another toddler virus. As DS & DiL are NHS workers, they have had the children tested promptly in the past, as they have to isolate.
I wish I had a magic wand to make you all feel healthier and happier. Hoping the day is kind to everyone.

NfkDumpling Fri 11-Sep-20 07:13:03

Morning All

An apricot sunrise here in the north of Norfolk.

I'm hopeful for a day out sitting in the middle of a broad on our little boat while DH watches a small orange stick at the end of a length of fine nylon floating in the water. He spent yesterday afternoon making a few repairs to her with me being useful holding things. Doing anything on a boat involves struggling into impossibly small places so he well deserves a day relaxing on her.

Beechnut Fri 11-Sep-20 07:14:47

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It looks rather dull outside.

Off to do the weekly shop and get the ingredients for broccoli and Stilton soup. The lawn wants a mow, so I’ll do that if the rain stays away.

Have a good day all whatever you do ?

NfkDumpling Fri 11-Sep-20 07:16:11

(And thank you for your welcome back yesterday, I wasn't expecting to be missed!)

kittylester Fri 11-Sep-20 07:16:37

Good morning from cloudy North Leicestershire.

DH is doing his drives today and I am going to the farm shop. We have run out of potato gratin and theirs are so lovely that I dont make them myself anymore.

We didn't have our neighbour's drinks last night and I suspect they wont happen any more. sad

We have ordered our new chairs!??? and I have lots of sympathy with people with building problems- we still have hole in the hall ceiling. We darent get the plasterer in until we've had rain to check whether the repair worked. Hey ho!!

Wishing everyone a happy and safe day.

brook2704 Fri 11-Sep-20 07:20:54

Good morning everyone from a wet and breezy Inverness with showers forecast for the rest of the day.
We’ve got an electrician coming today to fit some smart heating controls to the boiler, it should be much better as we’ll be able to turn the heating on via the phone when on our way home etc. No more getting back home to a cold house in the winter ?
That’s some impressive chutney making grandmattie well done!
Such a shame you’re not going on your holidays marydoll but you’ve made the right decision - its tough though... some yummy Italian food for dinner tonight maybe ?
So pleased you’re home safely momb and you enjoyed your trip, now time to plan the next one...
Hope all is ok with your DGD nannytopsy
Hope everyone has a good day today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Good morning from a not sure which way it's going Manchester. Off to North Wales for a long weekend with the family. If this was Monday we probably wouldn't be going as the 3 little ones make us 9, so 3 over the 6 permitted. We are in a family support group anyway and staying in a house, not hotel. Having said that, I don't think those rules apply in Wales? Could be the last time we are all together for a while, so will make the most of it. The weather looks OK and it should be fun but not very relaxing! Nfk love the Broads. Exactly 12 months since all of us were there for Mr M's significant birthday. Had a glorious week. Hope everyone has a good weekend. ?For those with extra cares and worries.

EllanVannin Fri 11-Sep-20 07:34:32

Good Morning All x
After a long dark morning it's looking decidedly grey outside with rain not far away I think.
I've been up since 04.20 listening to the automated voice on my health link ( lifeline ) warning me that my telephone is disconnected. I could stand it no longer so unplugged it all.

An engineer won't be out until Monday afternoon after which I'll have been 5 days without a phone----because I don't have a mobile either. So much for " old and vulnerable ". I still have the internet ?The phone is obviously a completely separate issue and presently independent of the need for a phone at all.

It was a chat-online arrangement and after presenting my life story/ history etc. the caller then said that my existence couldn't be verified, so I asked who'd been taking my money for that past 16 years. My dander was getting up ! Incompetence and me aren't a good mixture at all so it's perhaps a good job I wasn't on the phone grin Not funny really. Not good enough either. Time was when an engineer would have been on his way, but we can kiss goodbye to that way of life now.

No doubt D will call in wondering what the silence is about. I wouldn't dream of bothering/ worrying her when she's got 3 children to take to 3 different schools and then work.

Can't really put my mind into doing much today ,I lose all sense of focus when something goes wrong and it's beyond me to put it right. No doubt I'll find something to pass the time.

Hoping everyone is okay today and thoughts to the ones who aren't flowers xx
Enjoy whatever the day brings and stay safe.

Pittcity Fri 11-Sep-20 07:41:19

Good morning from a grey, cool Colchester. Dry and up to 20 is today's forecast. Can't see any sun yet.
Expecting DH home from a fishing trip, so loads of washing to do.

Scentia Fri 11-Sep-20 07:45:23

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. It will most probably rain at some point today.
First I am off to feed DD cats then taking DH car into garage for a service. I hopefully have the correct day this time!

Then my day off will be my own, bet that’s when the rain starts. I must put my negative pants away and plan a day out with my dog I think and just hope it stays dry.
Take care everyone and stay safe.

cornergran Fri 11-Sep-20 07:48:17

Morning Mick, morning All from an overcast gloomy , Eeyore sort of morning. I know exactly what you mean about being unable to focus EllanVannin, what a kerfuffle. Admin for me this morning, no idea what else, had a lovely day out yesterday, long walk and an even longer sit on a quiet beach accompanied by excellent NT cake. Pleased your GP appointment was well managed marydoll, also you’ve ordered your chairs kitty, fingers crossed for your roof leak and for your building issues gg13. Take care everyone, stay safe.

NanKate Fri 11-Sep-20 07:50:41

Morning Mick and All.

Apricot coloured sky here in South Bucks.

Going to meet an old friend this morning at my WI/Cricket Pavilion grounds where we sit on one of the benches and have our coffee from flasks and then walk around the field 3 times for our exercise. Of course there will be none stop chat too.

Oh Mary I can understand your disappointment at missing your trip to your beloved Rome. I have only visited there once but can fully appreciate how much you love it. So many disappointments this year for so many. Hugs and ?to you Mary

At last Kitty your refurbishment seems to be going ahead. Hope your hole in the ceiling is fixed soon.

Lins1066 Fri 11-Sep-20 07:51:51

Good Morning Mick and all from a cloudy S Welsh coast. Yesterday turned out warm and sunny so we spent mostt of the day on the patio, washed the online shop outside and dried lots of laundry. Stay safe everyone.

Grammaretto Fri 11-Sep-20 07:54:01

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's blowing a hoolie when I am sure we were promised sunshine and warmth - or is that next week?
I thought I had bought a lawnmower but when I went to collect it, there was no sign of either the machine or evidence of purchase. I may be losing my marbles.

I am glad your WHW was a success completed. MOMB, well done.

Sorry about Rome Marydoll sad
I am relieved that DH is so much better and rested. He brought me my tea in bed like old times.

I hope GG13 has discovered what's happened to her
housefoundations.. I have been given the number of a cornice repairer so I won't have to have a tapestry over the hole in our ceiling after all.

Hope you all have a nice day whether out and about or tucked up in bed.

MellowYellow Fri 11-Sep-20 08:00:22

Good morning from a south Cornwall trying hard to brighten up. 'An apricot sunrise' NfkDumpling, how beautiful. There's a real nip in the air, the herald of autumn, lovely. 3 year old coming later while his 4 year old sister has a riding lesson. He loves drilling polystyrene with my cordless screwdriver. It makes a mess but is easily picked up in my little flat. Have had a long-awaited NHS call about ear treatment so waiting lists are obviously on the move here. The best of everything possible to you all today.

Kalu Fri 11-Sep-20 08:02:44

Good morning from heavy skies in Glasgow and as you say Marydoll a very wet and windy day ahead. I can hear the wind howling through at the moment which doesn’t bode well for my drive over to Perthshire. Bad enough but we are having two windows replaced today in the butt n ben. It couldn’t be a worse day for either activities. DH is expecting his hybrid car to be returned today, hopefully, after 6 days in the garage!

I enjoyed following your route MOMB but agree, nothing like your own bed to come home to.

I must get organised now, raid the fridge for whatever I need to take for dinner tonight and set off soon. A careful drive and as the house is in a rural location, no fear of contact with anyone. No meet up with my friend, I know the glazier, he will work in one room and I will stay in another. ✔️✔️ ✔️ All boxes done.

Have a pleasant day all.

Gingster Fri 11-Sep-20 08:05:29

Good morning from Essex and it’s not looking too bad. DH going fishing today, so I’ll get on with jobs in the house. So much easier when he’s not around.

Had my hair cut yesterday, against everyone’s objections. It feels so much lighter and I think, more youthful. I didn’t have it coloured so have gone ‘au Naturell’ . I’ll see if I get used to it.

Went to bowls - first time since February- and now probably the last time as we are more than six. ?

‘EllanVannin* there is so much incompetence around these days. Frustration and rage abound. DD waited for a doctors phone call all day yesterday. She phoned them three times to remind. The last time she phoned, they said doctor has gone home.

Beechnut broccoli and Stilton soup, how delicious. My favourite but so fattening, especially as I add lots of Stilton. Oh well, once in a while!

Nfkdumpling enjoy your time on the Broads. My DH used to go with pals every October boating and fishing. We now go as couples but stay in a lovely old pub.

Marydoll so sorry about your disappointment (Rome). ?.

GrandMattie well done with 15 pots of chutney. I only managed to make 1 large jar and 1 small, (tomato) and that took me all afternoon. I’ll give it another go with the apples I’ve picked from my DB’s orchard. What to put with apples?

Hope everyone has a pleasant day, doing what you like best. ?

Good morning from a cool and cloudy Carlisle. I love reading your posts so I thought I'd like to join in. Getting ready to go off with our two dogs in our caravan to Beadnell Bay. It's our first trip in the caravan so fingers crossed we get there in one piece! Packing lots of warm and waterproof clothes and hoping we won't need them. Have a good day everyone
