Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight but its dry with some wind and an autumnal chill in the air.
Met up with my sister and brother last night at a new local hotel here in Brackley , as the hotel with the town being close to Silverstone Circuit you had support teams staying in it .
Plus yesterday , in Buckingham Flea Market I managed to buy an old map of Ireland original price 1/- paid £2 for it for my brother in law .
Today , final stage of Tour De France based in Paris , and see how the sprints unfold .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning from a barely light, clear, dry (again) E Kent.
Glad you got your map yesterday, Mick, and your meeting with your siblings was successful.
What about the shenanigans in the TdF? Was he drugged or not?
DS chatted to our neighbours yesterday, one of whom describe pd me as “stoic” in these peculiar times. (He should know, he’s Greek!) I would have said that I was pragmatic.
Weather peculiar here as the nights are hot at 17 C and days in very low 20s. It would be nice to have cooler nights. I would sleep better then...
Nothing on except virtual church. I hope DD preaches, she writes such interesting and thought provoking sermons.
Hope those in pain or sad/low have a good day. Stay safe everyone.

Good morning Mick and GrandM from a chilly but warming up day in South Bucks.

Will have a brisk walk into town this morning for a few bits and pieces then a slower walk back as it is uphill.

Loving this Autumnal weather.

Hugs to all our poorly and sad members ?

Nannytopsy Sun 20-Sep-20 06:50:03

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Another clear day in Suffolk and an unusually early start for me. DS, DiL & DGC came for a Chinese takeaway last night and the littlies stayed over. They have been trying to get me up since 5.30. ? DH is still asleep.
I expect to snooze in front of the rugby this afternoon!
We have a short trip to Snowdonia booked in 10 days time. I wonder if it will be allowed or we will have been locked down again? After all this lovely weather, rain is forecast but it is Wales! (Sorry Pantglas)
I hope everyone has the best day they can.

cornergran Sun 20-Sep-20 06:56:03

Morning Mick, morning All. Sunny day forecast for our corner of Somerset. Some outside pottering and some inside faffing for us today. Little of interest to post, we seem to lead a much quieter life than many of you. Take care everyone, look after yourselves.

Beechnut Sun 20-Sep-20 07:08:16

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Another dry and cloudy day.

My sleep was filled with a very weird dream and I woke up thinking it was Monday. I am having an early breakfast as I’m off to see my daughter later.

Enjoy your day whatever you do ?

Morning all, damp and overcast in south Cornwall, but I fancy taking a ferry across the river later for a quayside coffee. Better take my mac. Church at 4o'clock, just a short meeting, we're a newish lively church finding ways to go forward at the moment. 4 year old's throw attached, still some fiddling to do and a fairy to knit for the pocket, but it's almost done. I hope for the best of days where possible for everyone.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea. The last few days have been lovely but very windy.
We had a lovely meal in a local pub last night and they cater for DH's garlic intolerance which a lot of places don't.
He is at rugby this morning with his grandsons, I think I will go for a brisk walk.
Roast pork later and football to watch this evening. My team had a fabulous win yesterday against mighty, but not yesterday, opposition.
Have a lovely Sunday and stay safe everyone xx

Sar53 Sun 20-Sep-20 07:33:51

Mellowyellow love the throw, you are very talented smilexx

mancgirl Sun 20-Sep-20 07:37:18

Good morning from a brightening Manchester. As expected very early start to the day by the 2. 5 yo gs. shouting "need a wee nan" at 5.50! After he leaves mid morning will do a major clean up. Not much else planned but if I sit down any time around 4 pm I'll be napping! Have a good Sunday everyone. flowersfor those with extra cares and worries.

kittylester Sun 20-Sep-20 07:40:36

Morning all from a chilly and slightly cloudy North Leicestershire.

We have to shop today as it is dgd4's birthday at the end of the week.

We have 8 birthdays within 4 days at the end of the month and, although I know they are there it hasn't really registered, iyswim! So panic buying.

We had a lovely time in our neighbour's garden, in the sun, yesterday. It's a real tonic.

Anding love and strength to our missing friends.

Pantglas2 Sun 20-Sep-20 07:41:59

Morning all from a dry-but-blowy north Wales - Methinks it will brighten up later as it did yesterday.

we are forecast rain ☔️ later this week, NannyTopsy, maybe it will have been and gone by the time you get here ?
Lovely handicraft Mellowyellow!

A quiet day again with a bacon butty ? for brunch and roast chicken & trimmings this evening.

A peaceful Sunday to all x

Aldom Sun 20-Sep-20 07:47:52

What a beautiful throw Mellow. A labour of love, the makings of a family heirloom. Please let us see the fairy too.

grandMattie Sun 20-Sep-20 07:48:03

Gorgeous throw, Mellow. Although patient, I don’t enjoy little fiddly things. Your GD will be thrilled!

Pittcity Sun 20-Sep-20 07:50:37

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warm, dry day.
Need to go out and buy a roast, we have trimmings but no joint. Just letting today happen otherwise.

Good morning everyone, it's very cloudy here at the moment here in Glasgow. Yesterday was lovely, but despite being out all day, the washing wasn't quite dry. There was a slight chill in the air.

Yesterday was unexpectedly busy.
I was working about in the kitchen quite early in the morning, when I heard voices in the garden.
DD and SIL had got up early and went bramble picking behind our house. I hadn't even noticed their car parked at the top of the hill, despite being the street curtain twitcher. ?
So the plan was to make bramble jelly after they left.

DD, has got the cooking bug at last and was looking for ideas what to do with the chicken she had.
She left with herbs, onions and salad leaves, all from the garden. I said to her: This is just like the "Good Life".
She hadn't a clue what I meant, then I realised the programme is forty five years old. I loved that programme, as it inspired me to grow my own veggies. ????

Just after they left, DS2 phoned asking if I needed anything from the shops. before they visited. It was very opportune, as I realised I had little sugar after the recent tablet disaster.?
We spent a lovely couple of hours chatting in the garden, no-one allowed in homes here, when they told us their news. They had managed to sell their flat and buy a house in a couple of days! Now that is moving fast!!
I was absolutely delighted for them, as I had been worried, they would have trouble selling.
They had eight viewings and a number of offers.
Apparently it is a seller's market just now, as many young people are desperate to move, after being stuck at home with parents during lockdown. I don't blame them!! ?

After they left, I started to make the jam. What a mess I got into. Despite wearing an apron, I managed to dye my pristine white top purple.☹️ ( I can highly recommend Morrison's own make, spray stain remover!)
Note to self, change in future, before jam making and ensure you have actually set the jam maker controls before starting. I spent ages, thinking it was broken!?
However, I have to say, the jelly is pretty tasty.
PS. Please don't tell DH I stole borrowed the sterilising tablets from his beer making kit. ? The jars had been in the garage for a year and I was worried about sterilisation.

I plan to make tablet for my supportive neighbours today. No visitors expected and we watched the Sunday, online vigil mass last night, so hopefully uninterrupted and no disasters.
My friend across the road appeared on Friday with a bag of goodies for us, as her son's wedding had to be family only, so we were unable to go.
There was a good red wine for DH and non alcoholic booze and sweets for me.
I'm so lucky to have such lovely friends and I like to give them little treats.

Sadly I haven't heard from Gilly, which is quite worrying, but hopefully we will hear from her when she is ready.
She has taken a break before, but always comes back.
Hazbeen, I hope you had a better day yesterday. ?
Have a good Sunday all and enjoy the weather while it lasts.

Marydoll Sun 20-Sep-20 08:00:14

Mellow yellow, it's fabulous. What a talented lady you are!
One of MissMarydoll's gold stars for you.?
I would have made you a certificate, but I'm still in bed and anyway, Pantglas will be jealous.?

PS, DH has been for the papers and it's raining! It's supposed to be sunny! ?

brook2704 Sun 20-Sep-20 08:20:54

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it promises to be another lovely autumn day
We had a lovely walk yesterday in the mountains. As it was so clear and not at all windy we walked from the base station near the broken Cairngorm mountain railway up to the top and down again. Taichinan after the walk we stopped at the Glenmore visitor centre cafe, not far from the Green Lochlan you mentioned yesterday. A perfect day!
Today I’ll be pottering in the garden cutting back the fading summer plants and general tidying up
cornergran sometimes I have days on end when I don’t do very much, for me quiet days are good and enjoyable too
Hope you get some rest later nannytopsy and manc it’s lovely when the little ones stay over but oh so tiring!
What can I say except wow .. mellow you talented lady! Well done the throw is beautiful
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Lins1066 Sun 20-Sep-20 08:23:01

Good Morning Mick and all. Sunny here on the S Welsh coast. Haven't posted for a couple of days and think I will take a break. Have been part of this thread for a number of years now but we too lead a quieter life than many of you.
Wishing everyone well, never forgetting our absent posters, think of you often. Stay safe.

Urmstongran Sun 20-Sep-20 08:23:47

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga ?

Himself watched the Man. Utd match last night on SKY on his iPad. A disappointing start to the season - he said Palace deserved the win. I think he confuses me with someone who is interested. He’s off to watch Rangers in a local bar at 1pm with his mate. I’ll have a short empty as you describe it Marydoll! This is such a tiny apartment I will really appreciate it, as we only have one room & one small balcony to sit in. Sometimes I go in the bathroom for ten minutes of ignoring him - for my sanity’s sake!

Talking of Scottish words - my goodness I needed to look up some reading ‘Shuggie Bain’! I was stumped by ‘gae it lardly’ but got used to ‘pieces’ for sandwiches and other words. I loved the book. Time to choose another ...
?

Think we will eat out tonight at one of our 3 bars downstairs.

Hope Sunday is kind to us all. It’s lovely to just have us all together first thing in a morning cornergran whether you’ve much on or just a quiet day ahead. You’d be missed if you didn’t post. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Sep-20 08:24:29

Good morning Mick and all from a grey S Hants, still a bit of a breeze here, hope the sun comes out as I’ve washing to do. Filing to do, paperwork goes on the stairs, then the landing, eventually gets filed!
Quiet day today, might do some more tidying in the garden, DH off to golf, two days in a row which is rare, he works very hard during the week so it’s good r&r for him.
Wishing you all a peaceful day, thinking of those with troubles. X

Sark Sun 20-Sep-20 08:24:41

Good Morning from a greyish Oxfordshire.
Not a great night as DH snored through most of it but I can't be cross as he brought me tea and toast in bed which he does every Sunday bless him.
Looking forward to meeting my Mum and Dad in Marlborough for coffee this morning and then a quiet afternoon I expect.
Gorgeous throw Mellow yellow
Marydoll loved The Good Life too....they don't make tv like that anymore.
Have a good Sunday everyone

Urmstongran Sun 20-Sep-20 08:26:03

Oh no Lins! Don’t leave! Same to you as I just said to cornergran.
❤️
We are a little community here. You’d miss us & we’d miss you!

Gelisajams Sun 20-Sep-20 08:28:19

Good morning from a sunny Morecambe Bay.
Not much planned for today apart from Zoom church. As from today the service is back inside church but will be ‘zoomed‘ for those of us who are not confident mixing. I suspect it won’t be long before it’s cancelled again as we are back in semi lockdown from Tuesday. It’s not so bad here but the council leader has agreed with the lockdown as the cases are rising. Prevention being better than cure! The Blackpool leader apparently said no which explains why Blackpool is exempt!
Thanks Marydoll for the update on Gilly even though there is no news. Like most I am quite concerned about her.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Sark Sun 20-Sep-20 08:32:07

Lins1066 It is still nice to hear from everyone whether lives are busy or quiet...but I get what you mean.
I had a break as I didn't have anything interesting to say really but in these strange times decided to come back.
Hang on in there with your virtual friends maybe!?smileflowers
