Good Evening Chewsday;
Breaking News! Our Granddaughter in Bideford has just confirmed that her pet tortoise, Joe has now entered “induced hibernation” after a month of starvation along with 49 of his mates in the Vets special refrigeration accommodation quarters, which have been considerably enlarged since the last season.
Apparently they have individual “rooms”, so no single supplement involved! The question of identification when the guests have to be returned home is solved simply by sticking a label on their backs and also their compartments.
Alison says that when he gets home he’ll be “Eating for England!” Never heard that expression before! hmm
So Joe is bedded down until Spring, not necessarily warm and cosy!
End of “Breaking News!

I’ve always fancied hibernation Rufus but absolutely don’t like the sound of the month of starvation first!

Actually I probably should starve for a month. I resemble one of those toys that wibble but won't fall down.

Wibble or Wobble" ? Probably amounts to the same thing! grin
However, if you do fall down don't do it on a tiled kitchen floor.
Alison warns that Joe can't get up again if he's on his back; spins like a top if he can't get hold of something to help him flip over! Wouldn't look very elegant! shock

Yes Maw Who'd want to be a starved tortoise! Welcome back from wherever you've been.! I thought you'd already gone into hibernation, given what's going on up there, but I guess hibernating on your own can't be much fun! grin
Good Health and take care!

I saw a tortoise hibernation centre on the TV last week - could have been that one, in fact, Rufus.

My tortoise used to be put in a large cardboard box full of dried autumn leaves in my Dad's shed until spring.

‘Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down’

I found myself weebling down a hill today. I teeter tottered down. Hope no one saw me.
Hibernation combined with the reduction in food intake sounds like a good thing to me.

We had two tortoises when my family were young, after a while discovered one was a girl, the other one very interested but never resulted in babies although he tried hard??.
Sharks and alligators mentioned on a previous post very scary, call from grandson featured a large spider which he was reluctant to bash and finally knocked it outside apparantly
Cheers ????????.!

Seems to me that you also dillied and dallied and dallied and dillied as you followed that van all the way home!
If anyone saw you they'd think "She's not so posh after all!" Too much Haggis, I'd say! grin
