Where have they all gone?

I was looking up the name of an author Jojo Moyles to decide if I would like her books and found that there had been a thread about her in 2015.

I only recognised about 3 members who are still here today Soop Lemongrove and AuntieFlo and I just felt sad that all the others had dropped away for some reason or another.

Perhaps, NanKate they might still be gere, but under different user names?

lemongrove Sat 24-Oct-20 22:21:08

Yes, possibly new user names or just gone to pastures new?
I do miss some posters though.☹️

Greenfinch Sat 24-Oct-20 23:03:07

I' m there NanKate sad

I just looked and recognise a few names on there who are still posting which is good.
Of course, they were the posters who were lucky enough to receive a copy of the book as not everyone does. It's a lottery.

I miss Gabriella54. Her posts were always interesting and to the point. I wish she would come back or was she banned from Gransnet ?

I miss the 'characters' that used to make GN tick.

They tend to get seen off by some wannabee incumbents of a forceful nature.

Shame.

Me too.

I miss Gabriella too. However, she did go too far on occasions, but she was never boring.
I suspect, we won't see her back.

I wonder where Grandad1943 got to?

I didn’t always see eye to eye with him but respected his input on unions, socialism etc he usually made for good reading!

Here we go again..... the good old days.

shysal Sun 25-Oct-20 07:15:45

I have been here from the beginning NanKate. I still read most threads every day, but don't post very often. I have enjoyed some of Jojo Moyes' books. 'After You' is lovely, as is the film.

shysal Sun 25-Oct-20 07:18:24

Sorry, I meant Me Before You is good. After You is the sequel and not so good.

I'm a relative newbie. 2 or 3 years ago I accidentally came across GN and got hooked. It is addictive and is something you need at times more than others or have spare time for.
Giving out advice and opinions can be hard work. grin
Maybe these missing folk have found a rival message board!!

NanKate Sun 25-Oct-20 07:50:08

Hello Greenfinch and Shysal I meant to include all the folks I know, but just flicked through that old thread a bit quickly. I see you both posting from time to time ???

NanKate Sun 25-Oct-20 07:51:49

Thanks for the book recommendation Shysal.

Auntieflo Sun 25-Oct-20 08:01:27

NanKate, I think I posted on another thread, with book recommendations for someone's relative.
The latest JoJo Moyes book that I thoroughly enjoyed was
'The Giver of Stars'. Give it a go I think you will like it.

Suziewoozie, a question, why can't we have , as you put it, The Good Old Days?
I have hated all the recent nastiness, and it made me back right off GN.

Don't post often but enjoy reading good morning thread. And do miss poster's such as Gabrielle, doramarr and of course Gilly.

If Gabrielle is an example of the good old days, you’re welcome to her. I particularly remember her cruel vicious threads making fun and jeering at women because of their looks/weight.

Maggiemaybe Sun 25-Oct-20 08:18:05

I recognised a few more names, include my own. smile

The reading group threads always got people posting who didn’t normally, because they’d won the book. It was always good to see unfamiliar names, and I think we’ve probably lost members now that GN have dropped the reading group. HQ said they had a different format in mind, but nothing seems to have come of it.

I e only been on here for the last year and love to see and hear about others lives.

How long has Gransnet been going?

Chewbacca Sun 25-Oct-20 08:39:54

But for all her faults, she would never have made a comment like that about anyone. hmm

Lilypops Sun 25-Oct-20 08:44:49

I wonder if Mabon is back under another name,, a comment on another thread by another poster sounded like just the comment Mabon would have made , nasty and not at all helpful.

Yes, says it all doesn’t it?

lemongrove Sun 25-Oct-20 08:52:23

I used to enjoy Anya and Ana’s input, even when I didn’t always agree...they were good fun.
