Moving furniture is exhausting, and a bit disgusting....

Bit like the wonderful relative with OCD who pops in for tea and chat and I find her blitzing the kitchen. I leave her to it, no cobwebs ,spiders, or mess. Shes in bathroom now organising it. Shame someone picking her up at 4pm. I had lots of furniture that needed moving.lol

This is why I never buy a sofa, whose bottom is flush with the carpet, so to speak. My sofa has legs which are fairly high and I can see and get to what's underneath.
My problem is the stuff I find behind the cushions - exactly the same that you find under the sofa ?

I’m glad I have wooden floors downstairs even my 3 seater sofa slides nicely to be hoovered under. I’m glad I still have the strength to move stuff.

Wish I could CrazyH. She had OCD since she was 16. I have had years of her unauthorised help. I just had to move my legs. She washed all the rugs, and is now relaying them. Now the duvet is being stored in a new large garden bag. Think she making tea next. I am tired out now watching her.lol

Before anyone says its slave labour. I have tried to stop her but shes bossy, and gives me a withering look if I say anything

We had to move the dishwasher out today, it’s broken and being collected tomorrow. Underneath and behind was disgusting, bits of broken glass, cobwebs just ugh!

When my tumble drier broke down, the local chap came to take it down to his workshop to repair. Underneath - a mummified Mouse! Must have taken refuge and died after being caught by the cat.

Today it is sunny and has shown up the filthy windows and dusty furniture, so I am not a great fan of housework, though I keep the place tidy and the floors and bAthrooms clean.

At the start of lockdown I embarked on cleaning the sitting room, emptying bookcases and cleaning behind them. No junk, just dust, lots of it. DH moved the sofa when I was out of the room, but fortunately there was nothing underneath it.

We’re having to move stuff around in three rooms as the decorator is in, doing much needed work.

Six bags to the charity shop plus two bags of rubbish from one bedroom alone! I’m very scared of eight-legged creatures and lo and behold, a giant one emerged from my built-in cupboard! ? It quickly got stamped on.

I’m now off to remove all the books from a six foot tall bookcase and take them to another room, then take out as much furniture as possible, so the decorator can get in tomorrow.

We’ve had major electrical work recently, before the electrician started he had to inspect all the electrical sockets etc.
I had the presence of mind to apologise for dust and cobwebs before he started. Even so

I’m like CrazyH - all settees, chairs and bed on legs and can be swept under. You wouldn’t believe the dust bunnies after just a week!

Quite the opposite. A couple of weeks ago I decided to Hoover under the bed. This took some doing. And there to my joy was a plastic envelope with $60 tucked in it. I have no idea how long it has been there. But it quickly got exchanged and spent on a treat.

Lucky MissChateline! My sofa is quite low, and I decided to hoover under when we were expecting guests, ( why,,? nobody looks under sofas do they?!) Good job I did, discovered carpet moth which I managed to sort out before they ate too much of the rug!

My sofas are quite easy to move but we did move two heavy solid wood pieces of furniture a while ago and found carpet moth larvae behind there.
It was rather a shock and the furniture went to the charity shop!

Pulled out the coffee table where the television and other technological pieces sit, quite heavy.
Disgusting collection of dead insect life behind, and a £1 coin, old one. No joy there.

We now have pretend wood everywhere downstairs. Its wonderful. The bedrooms however, have carpet....

Our fridge is an American type one with a filter that needs changing- DJ pulls the fridge out, changes the filter and pushes the fridge back. It's been there 15 years - heaven knows what is behjng it.

I think I may be busy tomorrow, pulling out beds, fridges etc


I don't want my house to be stuck in a time warp

I keep putting off pulling out the fridge freezer. A couple of months ago I dropped some grapes and a few rolled underneath.
If I get down low enough I can see that they have turned into raisins !!

I have an excuse my eyes are poor my daughter often calls and picks something up to gather a cobweb or two with

How weird!The coincidence I mean.
I was getting nowhere trying to change the time on my new clock radio so I decided to rescue the old one from the garage where it was due to go to the dump. Anyway, scrambling behind the bed for the socket I realised how dusty that corner was and that the carpet which is a creamy yellow colour everywhere else, was grey.
So I set t and pulled out both bedside cabinets moved the bed forwards then to one side then the other to hoover as much as I could reach, hoovered the skirting boards, dusted, removed cobwebs and fluff behind the bed head etc etc wiped everything that I could and eventually , exhausted, put the bedroom back together!
I have a cleaner, but clearly nobody had thought of doing that except me and I was shamed into it!

I'm always moving stuff and cleaning underneath and behind, drives my husband mad. Still find dog hairs, dust, cobwebs etc. It is easier with hard floors.
