Good morning Mick and everyone. The horrid weather seems to be all over the country, although I can say that there's a bit of lighter grey amongst the dark! Glad you had a good day yesterday Mick - and that you're putting a bit of weight back on. (I'm putting on weight too, but that's not a case for rejoicing!). Miss Chatelaine so glad your kitchen is finally finished. What a joy that must be.

Sad that England is back into lockdown, but I'm certain it's the right decision. I hope the month will do the trick. I'm sure at some point Scotland will be joining you sadly. This is not going to go away quietly.

Off out today to meet DD and her girls for a late morning breakfast instead of lunch. It's DGD3's choice as it's her 15th birthday next week - she saw the menus of the restaurant and discovered that they have pancakes with maple syrup on the breakfast menu! Afterwards she is going to have a lovely time going round shops with money in her pocket - how exciting to be 15!

My journey to Perth will be longer than usual as I have to avoid Dundee and take the scenic route. It's a beautiful drive - on a nice day - but the hills are shrouded in mist today. A bit like the spirits of us all, I suspect. Anyway I'm so looking forward to seeing my Girls and must go now and see what I can do to the ravages of age to make myself more presentable!

Whatever you are doing - or even not doing - today, I hope you find at least moments of warmth and happiness. Joy in small things. ???

Good morning all from the Suffolk seaside. Still very breezy but no rain as yet.

DH came back from his local footie match very happy as his team had won. That cheered him up ! He’s the glass half empty type and I’m the glass half full. Pollyanna is right Susan.

We will probably now stay in Suffolk for the months lockdown, as it’s safer for us here. It’s no hardship as we can have lovely walks, along the beach and in the countryside, with little pooch, potter in the garden , read our books, watch tv, cook warming meals, cosy up in front of the log burner, shop in our local , fairly quiet store. What’s not to like? Reasons to be cheerful! ?

Let’s all make the most of this restricted life, we will get through it, as past generations have got through tougher times. ?

Good morning All. It's wet and windy in Polmont but there are scraps of blue among the grey clouds. I'm having a very quiet day today. All the housework was done yesterday so today will be pottering. I might clean the windows inside. I thought I was having dgs overnight tonight but the plan has changed so I'll get him in the morning as usual. I think I'll do some baking today. Gammon for dinner. Good morning all from Glasgow, where the sun is peeking through the cloudy sky. We have a flood alert here, but it won't affect me, as I can't go out!!

Susan glad to hear your trip went well yesterday. We have booked the Flying Scotsmen for June, but it was almost sold out. The only one left was the evening tour, which I'm sure will be just as enjoyable. We will have to stay overnight in Edinburgh, so a bit of a treat. We have also booked seats for DD and SIL, as a surprise for being so supportive during my rather long shielding.

Lunch, I we have decided to have takeaway today. I have lost my appetite due to my meds and have unusually found cooking tiresome and a hassle lately!

For those seeing family today, savour those precious memories. Despite living ten minutes away, I haven't seen my wee DGD for eleven weeks since the day she started school, as I'm too vulnerable. My son has become paranoid about bringing the virus here, especially as DIL is now back working back as a dispenser in the opticians in a high risk area.

I'm sorry to hear our English friends are in Lockdown, I'm sure we won't be far behind. Take care everyone.

Marydoll, your plan to cross the Forth Rail bridge reminded me of a friend, many years ago, taking her primary class to Burntisland for their summer ‘trip’. You’ll remember there had to be an educational part to the day, so theirs was to see the famous bridge. They all duly dismounted from the coach and waited breathlessly for the amazing sight, which of course had been thoroughly hyped up by the teacher. A train duly arrived and made the journey across. The children watched in silence and then a voice rang out, ‘Is that all it does?’?
Still makes me laugh!

It’s grey and breezy here in S E Essex. We have decided to go out for Sunday lunch to our local family run Italian Restaurant, I do hope that they can survive another lockdown.

Other than that I will be making lists!!! I hope to get Christmas wrapping paper and gifts tomorrow so that I can get ahead over lockdown and avoid the last minute Christmas rush!!!! Get Christmas cards written, sort out Christmas decorations and order more outside lights and I fancy another reindeer in the front!!!

I used to watch a programme with DGD, called Mollie and Mack, based in Queensferry. My wee granddaughter would shout, Come quick gran, its your bridge!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp grey windy South Yorkshire. A lovely blue moon last night but my camera wouldn’t play ball so no photo - I’ll have to wait until 2085 for the next one! We had a quiet day yesterday - DH disappeared upstairs to listen to his football team on the radio☹️ And then watched the rugby until goodness knows what time?. When he finally emerged I wanted to say “Do I know you?” Today if we get a window we will have a walk, but if not, I will do more work on my rug. Roast chicken later. Good morning from a bright North Somerset. Selfish article that I am, I am wondering whether my wonderful cleaner can count as a carer since she makes all the difference to my life and my ability to look after DH. We don’t have a bubble so won’t have anyone else over the doorstep. Must discuss with AC, neither of whom we can see for the foreseeable future.

Short church service, newspaper and steak for supper. Not exactly a full day but will make the most of it.

Marydoll there are a couple of very nice restaurants in South Queensferry. And it's not far from Houston House garden centre which is lovely.

Thanks Grandmabatty, we had actually planed to go once I got out of shielding, but I never really got out of it!
My son had recommended SQ, especially as there are a good number of disabled parking bays, which means I wouldn't have to walk too far.
Never mind the spectacular view, he said I would like the shops!!!. He knows me so well.

Showery , breezy and a grey day in prospect I suspect.
Not overly cold though as last night having put the heating on for a couple of hours it was quite uncomfortable when trying to get to sleep. Unusual for me to be too warm.

Well apart from fireworks going off every now and again and the final incendiary at 11pm Halloween came and went quietly, but reading the local news it certainly wasn't quiet elsewhere with yobs damaging buses and the fire-services. I wish police would stop calling it " mischief night " because it's wanton destruction on a large scale. Infuriates me. I'd have set the hoses on them----at full speed !

Will prepare dinner later and leave it to do itself. Braising steak with a couple of carrots in the mix, then shove it in the oven to do slowly for a couple of hours. Peel potatoes ready to cook then soak a quarter of the cabbage to make sure there are no unwanted pests in it as dad would have said, they add to the taste.

I've already breakfasted but not washed as yet. I even put my lipstick on, must be crackers. Whatever boosts your day I say.
All 3 cats are flat out---2 on the bed and one in the hall so no hope of getting the hoover out, what a shame Even old Tom is tucked up on his fleece in the kennel. All fed. Bliss !

Hope everyone is doing alright and pleased to learn that Mick is now back to normal as it's always concerning when someone's not too well especially with the present goings-on.
Once upon a time Sunday was my day of rest, now every day is and I'm beginning to think I've had enough now and wanting to be up and at 'em with the brain in gear, but that won't be possible for a while yet

Just watching Professor Semple ( Liverpool ) and thinking back years when my late H used to be in the same class at the grammar school as one of the relatives. I think his name was Andrew. Very brainy as H used to say.

Good morning from a breezy Morecambe Bay. Not a particularly pleasant day forecast. We have been discussing what we are doing today and have not come to any decision!
DS1 now has C19 as well as his partner. I’m a touch concerned as he is asthmatic and suffers from a bad chest every winter anyway. The children 14 and 12 have locked themselves in their bedroom emerging only to find food. At least they are of an age to entertain themselves and not need looking after as such.
DS3 is moving house tomorrow. We would have been there helping but not this time as we are both in a different tier 3.
I’m desperately trying to thing of something positive to say, do or plan but it’s not happening!
So I’ll sign off, stay safe everyone and take care ?

Sunday lunch is defrosting slowly , from a batch cook of casserole , mind you the one I sampled was all carrot and no meat , hope this is more varied , all my own fault as I was watching tv while filling the freezer !
Blanket finished and next on the crochet hook , but I hope it doesn’t take as long
Got Beechgrove on the tv just now , it is a delight to see the gardens and listen to the words of wisdom

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is dry and reasonably bright.
Have decided to give the bathroom a good “bottoming” (love that phrase!). It’s been badly neglected as it was all going to be ripped out to make way for a spanking new one, but events have overtaken us and it won’t be done now until the spring. So the dust will be hoovered away and the sink will be scrubbed - better not make it look too good otherwise DH’s Yorkshire side will come to the fore and he’ll start asking why we need a new bathroom ?.
The new lockdown orders are a bit of a blow; we hoped we would be able to avoid shutdowns as our area is tier 1, but needs must I suppose.
A worry for you Gelisajams about your DS1; here’s hoping he and his partner have a mild dose and recover swiftly. I have a positive thought for you: only 235 days until midsummer day!

I haven't read all the posts yet, but will after breakfast.

At the moment it's bright and breezy in South Yorkshire (my part) but rain is forecast for this afternoon.

I made the Christmas cake yesterday and it looks good. There was a delicious aroma in the kitchen all afternoon. I will pack it into its tin today and feed it with brandy every couple of weeks.

So, another lockdown. It was to be expected given the increasing cases, but it's going to be a tough month. We will have to try and support each other the way we've always done and hope that restrictions will be eased in December.

Chicken for dinner today. It's a long time since I bought a whole chicken and it will provide a good few meals for us.

Morning all from an overcast South Notts. I hope to do my usual weekly shop very shortly and then it'll be feet up with the newspaper and the supplements. Feeling all right about the lockdown as life has been very quiet for some time - no change there then. It's too wet to mow the lawn so any gardening will be limited to sweeping up leaves from the front path. Stay safe everyone.

Good morning from Manchester where there are raindrops everywhere but not actually raining. My hair, which I have let grow longer and now have decided to have chopped, will have to be a bit longer now before I can get to the hairdresser which would have been on Friday! Lots of fireworks last night, much as I love to see them, very inconsiderate to animals. Saw gs's 2 and 3 yesterday outside. Gs 1 and 2 both out of quarantine from school and nursery. Wonder how long that will last? I was reading an interesting thread earlier this morning that seems to have disappeared? ?. Have a good day everyone, for those with extra cares and worries.
